Hibiscus - It was a very enjoyable stay -- beautiful setting and great house. I would have preferred air conditioning for the master bedroom however so that we could close the windows while we slept (the wonderful waves crashing on the rosks is pretty noisy when one is trying to sleep). Kit Foley from Blue Sky Cuisine came to our house to cook a wonderful meal for our anniversary and we'd definitely recommend him to anyone. Thanks for a lovely holiday.
Kona Beach House - Excellent location: easy walking distance to a great snorkeling, surfing and children's beach. Ocean front view was fantastic!
Light House - Hello,
We loved the home we stayed in. It was perfect for 9 people. We also liked how accessible everything was from this location, walks on the beach, walks into Kona, shopping and the hwy to leave the city.
The home was clean and well cared for.
My only complaint would have been the construction next door which started at 7 am every day except Sunday. We were in bed early and up early but it would have been nice to have a choice sometimes as it was quite noisy. We realize this is beyond your control. Maybe an 8 am start would have been nice but for workers we realize it is cooler earlier.
We had concerns over the shower floor in the master bedroom as the water never drained properly and sat in the doorway. We mopped the water up as it concerned us.
Otherwise we loved the house, the big island and had a wonderful trip. I would recommend the home and the place to anyone.
Thank you
Barb Munro
Kona Alii Makai - Hi! We have just returned from a week at Kona Alii Makai and every minute was a delight. Two of our children, each with a spouse and three children, stayed there, and they loved both the informality of the house and its openness to h sea. They also loved that they could do all their meals together but get away from one another when they wanted to, given the two floors. The pounding sea and lava tide pools were a highpoint for both kids and adults, with lots of interest in the turtles, birds, crabs, and gekos! There were a few mechanical problems but Will was there within minutes to fix things and did a great job. The fresh flowers and Kona coffee which were promised were not there, but this was no hardship!
Kona Beach House - Convenient location; best lanai of any house we have ever rented; everything worked; a little warm on the lanai - outside ceiling fans would be helpful if they can stand the weather; we did purchase a couple of small room fans that we used on the lanai and the bedrooms at night - that little bit extra made it perfect (we left the fans at the house for the next group or the cleaners or whomever). We got some great pictures of sunsets from the lanai - perfect location for that. The sound of the surf right outside the door was wonderful. The sprinklers coming on every day made the front walkway a little slick, but everything was nice and green. Well maintained. The beach right around the corner was awesome - we saw the most fish and turtles within walking distance of the house of anywhere on the island. Kona Country Club restaurant was great and affordable. Golf was pretty sweet, too. September is a great time to visit - very small crowds everywhere. We'll remember that for next time.
