Ocean View Hawaiian Estate

The house was very stuffy on arrival was not aired out at all. The main sliding door to the backyard does not lock which made most of our group uncomfortable during their stay. The spice rack and cabinet in the kitchen was filled with small ants. The pool lights did not work. And the most rude thing ever was to switch off the hot water the day of our checkout. We had to checkout at 3pm but the hot water was off as early as 9am. All 6 of us had to shower in cold water which made our entire trip miserable. Also I suggest next time to read the fine print on your contract that says A/C is not included in your final quoted price and that they would charge you $70 a day for usage, even though in the amenities it says A/C. I saw that as false advertisement... Our site manager was not even picking our phone call nor the main's office phone calls and was not available to check us out, hence I had to leave the keys with the front gate security of the ranch. Overall, I feel bad for such a nice house to be run by such poor management. Will not repeat the visit again....

the house had a perfect situation, the view was terrific, yet the utilities were sub-standard. water, and appliances were an issue, but the rental was too short to bother to do anything about it.

The views from the Lynx Estate at Kohala Ranch are exceptional. The home served as a great base for our daily activities which included hiking, whale watching, and going to the beach. Both my wife and I have exacting standards and as a result we were expecting the home to be a notch or two higher in terms of the quality of fixtures, furniture, and other amenities. But overall we were satisfied.

my husband and i have spent a lot of time renting on the kohala coast...mauna lani facilities, waikoloa...and lived in hilo for 3 years, many years ago.
the lynx house was so perfect for us. we found the quiet and clean air fantastic (especially just coming from hong kong!) the uncluttered serenity of the house was great. we had a problem with internet availability from there (i understand it will be available in a few months:) but we worked it out. and when we called brian for advice, he responded immediately and was very helpful..
we definitely would like to return. it was a bit of a hike getting up there, but the trip was an adventure with the free range cattle occupying the road! it was charming!
favorite restaurant, hands down, was the harbor grill. outstanding. beats any restaurant on kohala coast!

The House was clean and very funtional and very sunny and pleasant. The sunsets were gorgeous and the blue ocean was wonderful to gaze at.I strongly recommend folks check this house out.

The house is beautifully situated above the ocean with a wide expanse of interesting vistas. It is well located for touring both the east and west sides of the island. It is a bright cheerful house and accomodate our family of 6 adults very well. Everyone felt that they had sufficient privacy. It's also lovely at night because it is high enough up to give a lovely cool breeze. We had the opportunity to go to the lava flows at Kiluaea, play tennis and golf, go snorkeling and swimming and hike. We generally ate at home for dinner but one night we went to Sushi Rock which was excellent and another night we ate at the Canoe House - fabulous ambience. i might add that while the house was very well equipped there are a few things I would change - I would get rid of the white carpets and put darkening shades or curtains in the bedrooms so that the sun does not come in at 5AM. These are minor details but could help. The bed was fantastic!!!! I'm planning on buying a new mattress now! Thanks to Brian for being so helpful each time I contacted him. I am sorry that I forgot to write in his book. Leah Steinberg

The views are spectacular. The bed in the master is very comfortable. The queen bed in another bedroom had no mattress pad. We were confused about how to handle our garbage. Yes, we paid a security deposit.

This house is absolutely gorgeous. The views are spectacular. There is nothing like waking up to the sight of the endless Pacific ocean and the Kohala Coast. The beach is a short 10-15 minute drive away--we think this is a perfect place to stay in Hawaii.

The Kohala Ranch home was everything I expected it to be. It was clean spacious and the view of the ocean is just serene. This is definately a place to relax and unwind. I surely did. I would definately recommend friends to stay at this house because of all that it has to offer. My time there was just terrific, I am surely looking forward to work with this rental agency soon.
