There are hiking excursions, beaches to visit, and sights to see. If you stay in Aliomanu, youll want to head down to Aliomanu Beach. This beach, protected by a large reef, is actually broken into a Northern and Southern beach. There isnt much youre going to want to do here in the way of watersports. The rocks along the shoreline make swimming hazardous, although it does make for a beautiful view. So leave the surfboard at home and instead bring a towel, your swimsuit, and a whole lot of suntan lotion. Youre going to want to kick back and lie down in the warm Aliomanu sand.
About the most activity youll get is on the walk down to the beach. Its not terribly longmaybe three or four minutes, but you wont be able to park right on the beach. Make sure to bring only what you need, because youll have to lug everything back up to your car when the day is done and you return to your Kauai rental. But what do you really need? Maybe a picnic lunch and a cooler with a couple of drinks, along with a favorite book or magazine.
