Description
Mature gardens, expansive lawns, grazing pasture, and an ancient Hawaiian fishpond are just a taste of the treasures which await discovery at Kauikeolani. The Estate is comprised of six separate accommodations and comfortably accommodates a total of twelve guests. Kauikeolani, once the residence of Albert and Emma Wilcox, remains as the central structure upon the land. The original home dates back to 1800s, at which time it was a comparably modest structure of only three bedrooms. However, as the Wilcox generations grew, so did the walls of Kauikeolani. Today, the main house is comprised of seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a commercial grade kitchen. An expansive living room is the focal point with the home. Filled with antique furniture, the refurbished room reflects the opulent tastes of a late 19th century missionary lifestyle, this large central parlor is a living museum! Perhaps the most abundant feature of the main residence is its lanai. Twelve feet wide, it skirts the perimeter of the home. Within view six waterfalls descend in a series of tiers which tumble down from spectacular mountain heights over 4,000 feet above the sea. Meander across the road to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Hanalei Bay. Kauikeolani Kauikeolani is a place to slow down and to discover your own relaxed spirit, remembering, all the while, that it is just, a little part of a little island, in the middle of the Pacific.

We stayed at the Kauikeolani Estate for a family reunion in mid May. We had four generations there, aged 88 to 1. I can't imagine a more perfect, beautiful place for our stay. I know there are renovations planned for later this year, I hope they won't change anything! (Actually, two small additions would be nice: high speed internet access, and handrails for the stairs to the lanai from the yard.) The grounds are gorgeous, house has plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, living/dining area elegant with tall ceilings and dining table for 12, a lanai surrounding the whole house with views in all directions, across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We had a great time on the "golf course" - there were five pins in the yard; putters really weren't much use, we just played closest to the pin. Most were 100+ yards, one could be played at about 200 yds. Lots of fun. Serious golfers need to go to one of the nearby courses (this is a hous

The estate and surrounding grounds were beautiful. The only complaint I have is the website listed a 9 hole practice golf course, 5 flags stuck in the grass hardly could be described as a golf course! Also the CD player did not work, however we purchased one and left in on site for the next renters.
