Villas on the Prince 1 was a pretty nice condo. I specifically picked this condo because it was listed as having air conditioning. I expected a central air conditioner. When we first arrived, the very small and inadequate air conditioner did not work at all. It was very warm inside when we first walked in the door. We called and asked for help. The guy was very nice. Someone came and checked it the next day and decided what we already knew. It didn't work. The next day another guy showed up with an older, small, inadequate air conditioner that did work. But, it was small, and inadequate, so, it didn't help much at all unless you stood directly in front of it. We decided it didn't matter after all because it ended up raining every day we stayed there (9 nights). Apparently, Princeville is the rainy side of Kauai. I wish someone had told me that to begin with. All the rain did keep it cool, although damp in the condo. The condo is in fair condition and is kept clean. I would not stay in Princeville again if I ever came back to Kauai. The best part of the trip was all the rain kept us inside all the time, so, we had some good family time. My daughter is a great cook and we had some great meals together. If I were you and I were considering this condo, I'd skip it and stay on the southwest side of Kauai. It's the dryer side.

It seems the guest has given the entire north shore a 3-star rating, rather than the specific rental property. We have definitely had an unusually rainy spring, which is unfortunate for visitors who come expecting sunshine and beaches. The north shore remains the most scenic and unspoiled part of the island, with beautiful secluded beaches. With respect to the comments on the property itself, our rental listing specifies air conditioning the the large upstairs living area, it does not promise central air. It is unfortunate but not uncommon that sometimes things break. To have maintenance out with a replacement air-conditioner in 24 hours is very responsive. The Villas on the Prince are charming, and nicely situated within walking distance of Princeville shopping and Anini Beach. It's a location we highly recommend.
