The owners of this home have definitely thought of every comfort. We were want for nothing! (except perhaps, air conditioning! But only to close off the stickyness of the tropical air). rnThe two priorities we had for renting were pool and oceanfront. This home has the best oceanfront view on the Princeville bluff. It's even better than the Princeville hotel view!! Every morning we would wake up and look down from the front yard to Queen's Bath, where we could not only watch people cliff jumping, but we could watch the sea turtles lazily floating about! We watched the sunset over Bali Hai from the jacuzzi (although, we think it was installed backwards, as the the best seat is in front of the filter)rnThe mosquitos on the north shore are horrendous! But nothing you can really to do about that, except wear your OFF! as your cologne! And, oh ya...Jay and Karen...thanks for the tease with the LOCKED wine refrigerator!! :)
What we liked best about the unit was how well it was furnished with kitchen items, laundry soap, towels, linens, etc. The washer and dryer were great, better than ours at home! Same for the dishwasher, so quiet! The tile floor was easy to keep clean. We felt our unit had the best view since we could sit in the living room, arrange the curtains just so and pretend there were no other condos around, just a gorgeous view of the ocean from the grassy bluff. rnThe lei and pineapple with greeting card from Claudia was VERY appreciated...I wore the lei all week and also yesterday at home in CA, to retain some of our aloha spirit. The lei may be a little item, but it spoke of your generosity and hospitality. We also read a lot of the books on the shelf about the HI birds and enjoyed the references on trees and plants, too. rnSomehow we did not arrange for directions upon arrival and had a moment of panic when we could not get our key from the manager's office on premises. They were very helpful in allowing us to use their computer to get your phone number and call for the code for the lockbox. rnWalking down to the beach below the units was also a treasure...very steep but so close and convenient, an easy outing with huge rewards for snorklers. We were in the water daily, sometimes twice. rnThe only things we were not prepared for were the geckos...not surprised to see them in the unit, but VERY surprised by their "singing" and the poop they left on walls, counters and floors...again, nice to have a tile floor that cleaned easily. We made sure to cover our bed as poop was found on the wall over our headboard and on top of the bedspread. rnWe didn't try to see everything on the island, got into the aloha spirit right away...enjoyed the north shore exclusively and felt very relaxed about going at a slow pace. We have a friend on the island who took us on a hike at the end of the road, up the mountain to connect with the goddess of Hula for a very emotional bond...then down to Hanalei for some fresh fish and retail therapy...a complete day. : )rnrnThank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to rent 139, we'd love to return. rnMahalo,rnStephanie and Jonrnrnrnrn
We enjoyed the view, deck, and pool. The layout of the place was fine. We were disappointed in the toilet which had a very loud and prolonged flush, the kitchen pans which were very scratched up and not safe to use given their teflon material, and the bed. The bed wasn't very comfortable and the covering was musky and old. We loved being in the Hanalei Bay area and found Kauai to be gorgeous. We though the Sealodge units were quite tasteful from the outside.
The Coconut Cottage felt like "home away from home". We were more than pleasantly surprised. From the beautiful flower arrangement awaiting us upon arrival, all the little things that were thought of that were available to us in the cottage (beach chairs, towels, mats, etc.), along with the fact of having a full functioning kitchen (with clothes washer and dryer) made our stay very comfortable. The views of both the ocean and the mountains out every window were great. The lanei overlooking the beautifully landscaped grounds made having breakfast and dinner on the lanei a real treat. The staff that took care of our arrangements were nothing but the most professional, very easy to work with. The best part of our trip was the beauty and quaintness of the island itself. The best restaurant for us was cooking at home at the Coconut Cottage. I travel for a living which requires dining out frequently. To be able to spend the majority of our day having fun around the island and then come home to relax and enjoy dinner at home was a real treat. After a long day of playing, we didn't have to spend 3-4 hours getting cleaned up, deciding where to eat, driving to a restaurant, waiting for a table and then actually having dinner. I can't wait to tell my friends about the beauty of Kauai. The part of our trip that I would definitely recommend to others would be to see the Na Pali coast, either by air or boat (we did both). Spectacular! The best insider tip we received was Shave Ice, I'm addicted to the root beer with vanilla ice cream on the bottom! The other insider tip was the great snorkeling in front of the Beach House Restaurant. We can't wait to come back to visit Kauai and hopefully the Coconut Cottage! rn
I was pleasantly suprised by the beauty of our Condo accomadations and view, unbelievably beautiful, view was to die for. Loved being in the Hanalai resort. Very nice rest and bar area. convienient and beautiul views, pool. Only complaint was having to leave at 10am. That was a little rushed. Would have loved to check out at noon. Access to the North and beaches wonderful and would highly recommend everything! Thank you so much Wish we would have stayed longer in the North of the Island.
This home was such a sweet place and what a joy to hear the lapping of the waves just outside the door. Gorgeous views in a lovely neighborhood and just what one dreams of in visiting such an island. We were close enough to all the sites but away from the maddening crowd...perfect!rnrnThe house was well equiped, the beds comfortable and the manager eager to please and pleasant at all times..what a joy! We were also in one of the rare rentals with A/C!rnrnIf your heading back towards Li'hue be sure to take the alternate route around Kapa'a it will save you loads of time!rnrnIt was a wonderful setting for long morning walks... whether choosing to walk on the beach or the road leading in beautiful scenery everywhere. Our adult children and their spouses made great use of the spa, the grill, the chaises, the DVD player...it was all there and all clean and nice...we felt so welcomed. Ho'o Walea is a Shangra La to us. It was a beautiful place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary with our family! We had a wonderful week enjoying the house and the island! Someday, we'll return-rnJohn & Louise Lill
