to find the perfect Kauai vacation.
Hale Ka Mahina - Very nicely finished inside, especially the master bedroom and kitchen/living room area. Love the area and town (best spot in Kawaii. Only thing is that instructions on how to find this unit are a little difficult if you arrive in the dark. Note that what is refered to as the Big Save shopping center is actually called something else on the sign, though there is a small Big Save market in the center on the right hand side of the road that's hard to see in the dark. Also, the turn onto Mahi Mahi is problematic since the street is lacking a road sign from the main road. The best directions would actually be to turn right onto the unmarked road that is just before the big green church on the left side of the main street, after all of the shops.
In any case, very much enjoyed the house. Beautiful, airy, and lots of laneis.
Poipu Sands 333 -
The unit was perfect, it was very clean and fully equiped and the best part was how quiet and peacefull the complex was. We enjoyed being able to walk to the Hyatt and watch the whales from the deck. A big plus was the available beach chairs, boogy boards and coolers at the unit. The best thing about the unit was listening to the waves crash at night and the morning sunrise over the water. Our favorite restaurant was the Plantation Garden. I would highly recommend the surf lessons it was a blast. Next time I hope to try the zip lines. We would rent this unit again, no question. Please let the owners know they have a lovely home and it was greatly appreciated!!
P.S It was great to have comfortable beds, so many rentalshave terrible mattresses.
Aloha Nui - 1. The home is very large, attractive, and well designed for our family - 6 adults and 3 young children.
2. This was our second stay in the same home and the customer service has been grest both times.
3. The family closeness for meals at home.
4. The dinner at the Princeville Hotel.
5. A family photo on the deck of the home.
6. Kauai is the place of our dreams.
7. It is a wonderful home for a large family or contingent.
8. Kayaking on one of the large rivers.
9. No tips were received on this trip.
10. I am looking forward to visiting the "grand canyon-like" area.
Kahalekai - The Kahalekai was beautiful. The house is right on the water, and we went to sleep with the sound of the surf every night. The best part of our trip was watching the whales breach out of the water while sitting on the patio...it was awesome. We took a helicopter tour of the island which was beautiful. We also ziplined, which was amazing. One of the best parts of our trip was just relaxing with our group (4 couples of old friends) while enjoying the Kahalekai. We made new friends with the staff at Brenneckis in Poi Pu........what fun. The rental company was very accomodating and we felt very welcome. Thank you!
The Lily Pad - We had a wonderfull stay at the Lily Pad, wish all our trip had been there. It was so quiet and peaceful and the grounds were just glorious. The sound of the bull frogs at night was so relazing, roosters in the early AM not so much but you have to take the bad with the good. The hosts were very kind to let us stay late in the day as we had a late flight out. The beach was one of the more quite we had been to and was very close. We spent two days just soaking up the sun and reading. Thank you for the CD's which really made us feel in the island mood, I think we listened to everyone. We will defnitely come back.
Johnson House - The Johnson house is a wonderful place to stay. It is only 3 blocks to the beach, and yet on a nice quiet dead-end street. My family loved the spacious rooms, lounging on the deck, and cooking great meals with the BBQ. Great bang for the buck! The only thing I would recommend is adding more utensils, hot pads, and more lighting in the kitchen.
Ka Ehu Kai - The rental was great, on the beach and close enough to town that we could walk up to get breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks. The customer service was also great, the previous renters had not treated the house with a good deal of respect and the house was fixed to a very acceptable stadard by the time we checked in. All resturants were top notch, but it is hard not to be when you are in this location.
My advice to others that are staying at this unit is to make sure you enjoy surf, beach and people. The house is located at the He'e parking lot and when there was a surf contest, the lot was FULL and you were not going to move your car anywere during this weekend contest. Other than that, I enjoyed the people that "hung out" at the parking lot, they were respectful and fun to talk with throughout the day. Like anyone on the beach there, show them respect and know that you are the visitor to their "home" and you will find them to be very friendly.
I would and will reccomend this unit to friends and family, I may even come back myself when I can get time away from work. Thanks.
Kiahuna Hale - The location was great! We had six adults staying for a week and it was perfect for us. The dog barking at night across the street was the only problem.
Hale Emmalani - The pool was actually a lot nicer than it looked in the picture(s) I found online. You might want to consider re-shooting the pool (if any of my pictures turn out well... I'll send you a copy). The binder in the house said that pool would be cleaned on Wednesday... that didn't happen and the pool got fairly dirty with leaves, debris and bugs by the time we left. I would have been only too happy to have been able to clean the bottom of pool myself... if you could provide some kind of idiot-proof tool that would allow me to do so (that sounds like a hard thing to find).
The house needs a new kitchen faucet, toaster, coffee machine and better frying pans. Everything else was nearly perfect. Oh... the toilet in the second master was leaking, we called the number in the binder but the plumber never did show up (while we where there).
The layout of the house was wonderful; very family friendly and, with the playstation, pool table, big tv and high-speed internet... there's always something to do. I can hardly imagine a nicer place to have stayed.
I loved the north shore, even though it was winter (or maybe because of it)... it's less busy and touristy than the south end of the island (which is less busy and touristy than the other islands). Anini beach, 5-minutes from the home, was beautiful, uncrowded, safe to swim and snorkle at... we even swam with sea turtles.
My advice to somebody else staying here: skip the luau's (any of them, all of them... plastic lawn chairs and buffet diners are not, in my opinion, "authentic", nor worth $50 -$90 a plate) but check out the Olympic cafe in Kapa'a... the fish taco's really are (as the menu claims) the best on the island.
Rainbow's End Haena - We absolutely LOVED the location of the house! It was the best.
It was very easy working with Sheila Beihm. She was really helpful in finding us a house.
Best part of the trip was just waking up in the morning and sitting on the front porch watching whales frolick in the ocean.
We really want to return with our kids in a couple years. They would just love everything about Kauai.
We were all over the island, Haena and Hanalei were the BEST towns in Kauai. To us, it seemed like old Hawaii and not some overbuild any old town. I really hope they don't develope in this area of Kauai. I would stay at Rainbows End Haena again for sure.
I would appreciate being kept on a list of some sort. any deals that could come up, I would love to hear about. Thanks! Becky & Jeremy Bokman
