the moment we drove up the roundabout driveway and got our first view of the house, we knew we had picked the perfect place for our maui vacation! the house is much more gorgeous and spacious then the pictures show on the website. the view is phenomenal from the front deck, the saltwater pool is very large and the layout of both the house and the grounds is perfect for large or small familys or groups who want privacy. (i don't remember if this is part of the listing info, but the house is fully equiped with beach gear and a washer/dryer - which means you don't need to pack so much!) this is our 2nd trip to maui, the first to the Kulike house and i look forward to many more - i would highly recommend the kulike main house to anyone desiring an upcountry chic and yet very private home that's conveniently close to town. (don't forget a trip to Paia's Fish Market restaurant, on the corner of Hana Hwy & Baldwin - the best fish & chips and ono burger on the island)

Just completed in fall 2005, the Kulike main house brings back memories of a Kaamaina plantation home - large overhung porch, polished wood floors, unique plantation wall construction, and a peaceful, natural environment. With more than three acres of land, you will truly have the feeling of being in a tranquil, country setting. Kulike was built in the Old Hawaiian fashion to ebb and flow with the environment. more »
The finest woods and materials were used with framing and walls of dimensional Douglas fir, floors of Hickory Pecan, double hung windows, doors and screen doors all hand made on Maui of mahogany, and decks of Brazilian black walnut. Deluxe appliances, plumbing, and lights were used throughout; including Wolf range, Bosch dishwasher, Kohler cast iron tub, Restoration Hardware lighting, stainless steel gas powered Barbeque, flat screen TV/music center with Ipod and MP3 plug-ins. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, plus loft, (just under 3000 square ft. ) under roof.
The kitchen, dining, living room run across the front of the house, opening to the large porch. Bedroom #1 and #3 sit towards the back of the house, and bedroom #1 sits to the front, opening to it's own small porch.

THE HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL AND IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING. HOWEVER, IT RAINED MOST OF THE TIME. I BELIEVE THAT IS TYPICAL WEATHER ON THAT PART OF THE ISLAND...THAT IS WHY IT IS SO LUSH AND BEAUTIFUL. WE EXPECTED RAIN, BUT NOT THAT MUCH. WHEN THE SUN WAS OUT, THIS PLACE WAS SPECTACULAR, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT GREAT POOL. THANK YOU.
