At the end of a legendary road with 620 curves, 54 bridges, ginger-scented air, beaming flower faces bigger than your hand, lush jungle, rugged cliffs, and countless waterfalls lies the tiny Hawaiian town of Hana, a must-see on the agenda of most visitors to Maui. Although the Road to Hana is more about the journey than the destination, the quaint town of Hana itself does have a few things that make it worth taking an hour or so to explore rather than just passing through. The Hana Ranch Restaurant, one of the only actual restaurants around for many long (and slightly treacherous) miles, is one of them.

Located just off the main road through town, the restaurant sits up on a hill overlooking the town and the beautiful coastline below. Hana Ranch Restaurant offers weary drivers a chance to relax and enjoy the slow-pace and old-Hawaii charm of Hana town, with a menu offering a wide selection of American and Hawaiian favorites.

At a Glance:
Although there is nothing fancy about the restaurant or the food, the Hana Ranch Restaurant has decent service and menu options that provide travelers with an alternative to the food trucks and roadside stands along the Road to Hana. Prices are fairly high, but everything is a tad pricier in Hana. The restaurant itself is large, with plenty of parking, a bar, and a spacious outdoor seating area for guests who want to enjoy the fresh air with uninhibited views of the coastline.

The menu incorporates traditional Hawaiian food, such as Loco Moco, with seafood dishes and standard American fare, such as BBQ ranch burgers with beef sourced from Maui Cattle Company. There is also a full drink menu, with a blend of standard and more unique cocktails such as the "Paniolo" (cruzan spiced rum, malibu coconut rum, and amaretto mixed with OJ and pineapple juice) and the "Hana Hou" (Amsterdam vodka and fresh squeezed lemonade topped with raspberry liqueur.)
