Our Honokowai vacation rentals provide the finest in luxury and relaxation in one of Maui's most desired vacation destinations. Set at the northern tip of
Kaanapali, Honokowai is located in a quiet area of West Maui where you can enjoy the warm breezes, uncrowded beaches and swaying palms yet you're just minutes away from upscale dining and shopping as well as an abundance of fun ocean and land activities.
Things To Do
Snorkeling and body boarding are popular in this West Maui region, and also keep an eye out for humpback whales offshore during the winter months as this is one of the best places to see them from shore. Check out Honokowai Beach Park for exceptional snorkeling amidst a diverse variety of colorful fish as well as Hawaiian green sea turtles. Then grab some fresh seafood at the local fish market and throw it on the barbecue for your own perfect Hawaii evening.
Golfers will enjoy the spectacular golf courses in the nearby resort areas of Kaanapali and
Kapalua. The Royal Kaanapali Golf Course, which has hosted LPGA events, takes in sweeping views of West Maui. Notable is the beautiful oceanfront green on hole No.5, and the 18th hole has water on one side from tee to green making it one of Arnold Palmer's favorites.
Eat and Shop
The local commercial area of Honokowai includes a supermarket, health food store, coffee shop, dive shop and some restaurants as well as a deli. For exceptional fine dining near Honokowai try Merriman's Kapalua where you can enjoy the food artistry of chef Peter Merriman, one of the pioneers of Hawaii Regional Cuisine. The farm-to-table menu includes artisanal and farmhouse cheeses and an array of locally grown specialty foods. There is a great sunset view from the outdoor lanai. Desserts at Merriman's are exquisite with such treats as lilikoi and Kula strawberry caramel mousse, and white chocolate-filled malasadas with Maui oma caramel dipping sauce.
For a nice evening stroll you can walk the beach from Honokowai all the way down to Black Rock at
Kaanapali and then browse the shops and grab a bite to eat at the North Kaanapali resorts along the boardwalk promenade fronting a beautiful stretch of beach.
Getting Around
A rental car is recommended when staying in Honokowai vacation rentals so you can explore the many great beaches along Maui's western shore as well as other island sites and attractions from
Haleakala volcano to
"heavenly Hana".
