it was amazing -- we truly were spoiled. I'd love to write more but we are on our way to the Big Island.
The house was in a good location.
The cusotmer service I recieved was OK!
The best part of the trip was the waether and being with our families.
The best picture we took was on the pourch with our entire family
My advice to someone else staying at this unit to have a car so; you can drive to the beach since it is not a walking distance specially if you have children.
great place for family, stayed 9 days good family time spent at the house
Nice home, but disappointed in the cleanliness and lack of air conditioning on the bottom floor. There were tons of ants/bugs in every room during our entire stay. The property manager provided bug spray, but we were not comfortable using this since we have a young child. This home definitely needs to have a pest control treatment on a regular basis and a better cleaning between visitors. In addition, the bottom level of the home was not air conditioned and it was therefore very hot sleeping in the bedroom on this floor. On a positive note, this home has a great location and plenty of space for a family gathering.
It is obvious that the owner of Au Lani Estate has put alot of time and money into this vacation home. It was a lovely place to stay. We do have a few suggestions re: our stay and feel that the website should be updated to reflect a littel more accuracy about this home. We arrived Saturday evening, 8/6. The fountain at the front of the home was not running and had apparently been drained the week bvefore we arrived. It was not filled up when we came, so we never got the chance to see how lovely this might look if it had been operating. The indoor fountain at the top level of the house which runs down to the bottom level had to be turned off as soon as we arrived, because it leaked into the lower bathroom. The ice maker in the refroigerator had notbeen tiurned on, so there was no ice. When we did figure out how to turn it on, it still did not operate. A service man was sent out at the first part of the week - it still did not work after that. On Thursday of our week stay, some ice finally came down, but not much. More of an inconvenience than anything. The Air Conditioner on the top floor did not work. Although there were nights when you do not have to run it, there were a few that we wanted to turn it on specifically for the few older guests we had travelling with us, becasue it was very warm upstairs. When we contacted the propert mgr., he had to send a service man out I believe the next day or so, and we were told one of the generators was blown (apparently before we had arrived). It was never fixed unfortunately. The sound system that is described in the details of the house on the website is no longer accurate. It had to be disabled according to the property manager due to misuse perhaps by previous renters (turning it up too loud, I assume?). Nevertheless, there are not 57 speakers that can be used to hear music when you are in different parts of the home. The only way to play any music is to turn the upstairs TV on, or to use IPod docking stations, which do not go up very loudly. We are not the type to blare music anyways, but it would have been nice to turn something on and be able to enjoy it if you were either up or downstairs. In addition, the house is not longer lit up brightly in the back as depicted in the picture on the website. The lighting had to be changed apparently due to complaints by homeowners, and is illumination is much less than what we thought it would be. These above things were a few of our concerns and thought that some of the things should be fixed (where possible) or at least checked out prior to new guests checking in. The property manager was very, very nice and tried to accomodate whenever possible. We appreciated that immensely. The estate is in a lovely community - peaceful and serene.
The unit we leased was everything advertised. This was a 4 bedroom house overlooking the ocean and islands with the most beautiful sunsets we have evert seen.
Everything the agents told us about the house and property was there.
Service was excellent. The agent who welcomed us to the house, Christen, was available throughtout our stay and treated us like we were the first and most impotant folks that ever leased this property.
We loved our vacation, did everything we could do with the 8 days we had. We plan to return as soon as possible to these islands and will of course call these same rental agents for the visit.
Aloha All!
We had a family of nine who stayed at the Casa Del Mar in July of 2011. What we liked best about the home was the large family gathering areas, and the view of the beach and sunset. We enjoyed the sights on the Road to Hana, but the return trip was tough. While in Maui we went horseback riding, took surfing lessons and had a guided snorkeling tour, which were all great fun. We went deep sea fishing, it was a nice trip but we didn't catch anything. We took in the sunrise at Haleakala, had to get up very early, but fortunately we saw a nice sunrise. We attended the Old Lahaina Luau, the setting, service and entertainment was excellent, the food was just so so. We ate at several restaurants, probably the best was Duke's - beautiful sunsets for pictures. We did a fair amount of shopping in Lahaina on Front Street and in Ka'anapali at Whalers Village which was a lot of fun. We took a day flight over to Pearl Harbor which is very moving. While on Oahu we took in Waikiki Beach, which seems commercialized and busy compared to the Maui beaches. Overall we had a wonderful time and would love to come back someday. Thank you for providing such a great home!
This trip was a gift from our parents. We had ages 6 to 75. The accommodations were beyond our wildest dreams. The estate being on one level was perfect for all ages. Everyone had lots of room, very comfortable. I only hope we can one day revisit.
I liked the location of the home. Customer service was great. Best part was the accomadation in the home. We when out to eat 4 time and they were all great. Best pictrue was at the pool. My advice is try to stay longer. I would recoment the parssailing. Best tip? did not receive any. We did everything that we planned. I will recommend Vacation Rental Agent to any one going to Hawaii. We had a great time at the Sea Shell Home. Caroline was a great help. I hope we can stay again.
Island Haven was fantastic! We filled the house (8 guests) but didn't feel crammed. There was plenty of living space for everyone. The wraparound porch was gorgeous and we were out there for hours a day, watching the ocean, reading books, or taking a nap. The pool was incredible and the kids LOVED it. More pool and beach toys were provided than we could use in a week. We walked down to Whaler's at least once a day and it was great to have the restaurants close by, but so peaceful to walk away back to our 'Haven' when we were done, vs. the crazier, busier hotels. We had a few small issues (bugs - LOTS of ants, and pool heating) but the management staff was incredibly helpful and responsive. It was the best trip we've had in 5 years and we're ready to do it again in 2012!
Our stay at Au Lani was amazing. I can not pick out one thing in specific that I loved the most about this unit because I loved everything. All the decor and detailing gave the house a very Hawaiian feel, but at the same time was very modern. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could think of, which made it easy to cook meals at home. The house had a very open feel to it and was in a great location. Close to the beach, and just a 5 minute drive away from Front Street where there were lots of shops and restaurants.
The unit was great. The property manager's were fantastic. The only complaint was that we had trouble with the t.v. and wi unit and it felt ever so slightly not super clean. Service was exceptional. Location terrific in relation to Kannapali Beach and a very nice cozy feel to the home.
Very clean, nice appliances, convenient access to Whaler's Village, beach, swimming pool, Lahaina, and tennis courts. Only real complaint was the construction noise during our stay.
The unit was nicely set up for families, with soft, clean carpets, a variety of toys for the little ones, and a host of beach gear. The Whaler itself is perfectly situated if you want to be on Ka'anapali Beach. Our only complaint (and this would be true of all units on the south side of the Whaler's south tower) was that the sound of the waves had to compete with the sound of the HVAC unit for Whaler's Village, and usually lost. There was also a fair bit of minor construction going on in the Village, which added to the racket. Not a huge problem if you're spending most of your time outside, but it necessitated keeping all the windows closed while we were there. Next time we would not stay on this side of the building. As far as restaurants go, thumbs up to Nikki's Pizza for good-tasting, cleanly prepared, very reasonably priced home-style dishes. Hula Grill and Leilani's can be given a pass -- if you want that sort of atmosphere and almost exactly the same menu, head up to Duke's at the Honua Kai on North K'Pali beach, where there are no crowds during the day and the service is much better.
The house was perfect, we had great weather. I would suggest not to use the bedroom downstairs which is by the pool and also I would suggest to change the timing for running the jacuzzi for at least 9AM not 6. First night it woke us up at 6. next night we closed the doors, but than we did not have fresh air Inside. So finally we moved to the bedroom which was opposite the cellar downstairs. Our friends stayed int he bedroom upstairs and that is the best bedroom in the house. I missed towel hangers in the bathroom downstairs. We did nor get any information about where to put the garbage so we did in the garage, and after a week, it was a little bit smelly:( However we could ask,but we were too lazy to care:( But it would be helpful for next clients to have this guidance. however, we had a great stay in this house:)
Sea Shells is a stunning house in a fantastic location. On a beautiful beach yet very private. Great snorkelling up the beach and even better at Black Rock to the south - turtles, eels and an eagle ray. Great golf at Ka'anapali Royal. Recommend the Lanai dolphin experiences with Maui Adventure Cruises from Lahaina.
very professional service and house has girgeous views and really a comfortable place especially when you have a family. We enjoyed our privateswimming pool a lot
This house is perfection the heated pool is outstanding. It was a dream vacation for our family and we very sad to leave paradise
everything was absolutely perfect. No other way to put it. We will be back!
My family of six adults rented this unit for six nights and absolutely loved it! There was plenty of room for everyone (even the sofa bed was comfortable!) and the unit was stocked with everything we needed. The location was great as well- just a short walk to Kaanapali beach. We could not have picked a better place to stay on Maui and we hope we can return soon!
This unit was nice; the ocean view from the lani was a favorite, although our next trip to Maui we will look for another unit to try and the reason for that is the elevator shaft shares a wall with the bedroom of this unit. Everytime the elevator is in use, it can be heard which seems to be especially loud when elevator use starts about 3:30AM each day when new arrivals are up due to the time change. I would also suggest the kitchen is a little better equipted; a knife sharpener is a must there are several knives yet all of them are very dull, a cookie sheet and possibly some plastic trays that can be used getting food down to the BBQ area. The community BBQ's are very nice and kept especially clean by the Whaler Maintenance people. Another recommendation would be to have suitable bedding for the hide a bed in the living room. There were sheets for it in the closet, but no blankets. All in all, a great time was had by all, and we always love to stay at the Whaler.
We had a great time there. it was spacious and nice to have us all in one place. it was hard to go to a condo , for the last 4 days of our trip:< Alan, our greeter was great and very accessible when we needed it. it was very relaxing!
The unit was well planned out with climate control in both main rooms and a nice kitchen. The size was comfortable for a family of 4.The location of the unit to laundry was nice. The only draw back was the elevator noise but you get to where you do not notice. The location of the The Whaler next to Whalers Village is very positive with shopping and dining within a easy walk.Black Rock offers snorkeling a short distance away. Also you can walk off the beach on to a waitng boat for a excellent snorkeling adventure. It is also a very short distance to drive to Lahaina for all it has to offer.Do not forget to Drive North on Highway 30 for Great views of the Pacific.
All of my family enjoyed our trip to Maui but the extra and unexpected treat was the home. Its layout and original art were great. Thanks
great location & view, clean & comfortable
We had a wonderful time! The house was everything we could have hoped for!
We had a wonderful stay at The Whaler. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the accomodations were very comfortable. We look forward to a future stay at The Whaler.
The condo was clean and comfortable with a nice view of the golf course and the ocean in the distance. We had a great time and we would certainly consider staying at the Kaanapali Royal again.
the condo was more spacious than i had hoped, it was well kept up and worked out exceedingly well for our tirp, i would stay there again if in maui without a second thought.
I shared the unit with 5 friends. We were all visiting for a wedding at the Royal Lahaina which is nearby. The condo was a very inexpensive alternative to a hotel. The unit went beyond my expectations. We all had a great time. It was clean and spacious, plenty of room to accomodate 6. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans for cooking and the blender mixed tasty tropical beverages all week long. rnIt is a 5 minute walk to the beach through a golf course. The whole area was really nice and the locals living in the KR were very accomodating as well. They made us feel right at home. Our unit had long distance views of the ocean and nearby hills, as well as the golf course and beach resorts. rnOverall a great time was had. You won't regret staying here. You'll save a bundle if you have 5 or 6 people in your party.
Still feeling the ALOHA from our visit I send you hello and many thanks from California. I am a travel agent for AAA. I have stayed at the Whaler many times but this experience by far, with your company has been THE BEST!!!. Though you are not one of our prefered partners I will; without hesitation recommend your company to my members. The experience from the beginning was welcoming, EASY and imformative. We got to choose our room(photos were great help). We got to check the availability and customize it too. (daily maid service; though we did have to call and remind them to come the first day. After 4PM they showed up, but after that they were great)rnWhen I had questions or concerns the member service persons were very helpful. Only suggestion I would make is maybe lumping the maid service with room rate as an option. I will forever use your company when traveling to Hawaii. I don't remember the persons that assisted us but I would like to let managmen
Nice unit. A little confusion initially about what was and what was not to be provided but we worked through it. Enjoyed the stay.
Nice & comfortable. Pretty view of sunset. Well maintained complex.
We loved our stay at Kaanapali Royal -- our 2nd stay at this unit. We hope that they will consider replacing the mattress upstairs?? Has "dips"--and the mattess downstairs needs a new foam pad - very hard mattess...but we still loved out stay and this unit and hope to return! Thanks!
Spectacular house with beautiful sunsets helped make this a fantastic vacation
The unit was spacious enough for our 4 person family and the location for a kid friendly stay was great. The people who operate the facility were very accomodating and always ready to please so we had a great 8 day stay.
Decent unit at a great location. Good: Nice large screen projection TV. A/C was great and worked well. The unit included nice beach ammenities and entertainment options such as boogie boards, beach chairs, games, books, etc. Not-so-good: No Washer/Dryer in unit! Filthy carpet. No restocking of basic supplies such as toilet paper, bags, etc.
Unit is old and needs some upgrading. Bathroom tilework needs attention.
The unit is very comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook with. (pots, pans, utencils). The view was great, but the noise level from The Hula grill and Whalers Village was pretty bad most of the time. It would be better to have more towels avail, as they have a hard time drying out between uses. Mid-week maid service was minimal, at best. The blankets were very scratchy and the pillows and linens were very old and worn. The biggest negative was the carpet and rugs!! They were filthy and nneed some serious attention. The decor was wonderful and super casual and relaxing. The sofa was large enough for 5-6 people and very comfy too. The lanai was big and inviting. We had fun on Maui
