Audrey K., Oakland, CA, 5.10.09 Sharon & Richard W., FREEHOLD, NJ, 4.19.09 Comment by Owner/Manager: We feel that these comments are unfair and unwarranted, though we do have some areas where we can improve things and do continue to do so, as a vacation rental is in constant need of being "updated." This renter's criticisms were greatly exaggerated. This fact can be validated by looking at our past history of ratings, which range from 3-5. In fact, due to a new floor tiling job, the overall condition of the condo has improved, significantly, since the previous 5 ratings we received. Sometimes, when looking at inappropriately exaggerated criticism, one must consider the source. These particular clients were very troublesome, from the evening they checked in. They called complaining in a rude and offensive manner that there was no lockbox by the door, when there, indeed, was. He required 3 phone calls to convince him to look where the lockbox is. He also had difficulty operating our internet system, which is easy to use, and we were always cordial and as helpful as possible. He seemed to be an extremely critical-minded person who had difficulty with things he wasn't used to. He should probably stay at the Four Seasons, where the rooms are 5 times more expensive, but, then, he would probably find something he wasn't happy about there, too.
To return to to the specific criticisms, our condo, while pleasant and well equipped, and continuously cleaned and maintained, is not, admittedly, the Ritz or the Four Seasons. It is located in North Kihei and surfaces do become stained because of the red dirt problem there. Everything is always vigorously cleaned between check-ins, but we cannot afford to clean the carpets or paint every couple of months, which would make it more perfect. This is a family condo, therefore, family groups or large groups of friends tend to be very hard on everything - necessitating constant repairs. Sometimes, there is not enough time in between check-ins to do everything that may be needed to make it flawless, but we do our best. Most people are very pleased.
Because of these minor issues, we have lowered the price of the condo by nearly 60% from what we were charging in 2007 and early 2008.
The microwave does work, it just doesn't turn. Yes, some of the blinds don't work and need to be replaced. These items are on our list, but will require a few days with nobody in the condo to make the repairs.
The shower does not have mildew, but it does have waterspot marks, which is common in Hawaii. The cabinet door under the kitchen sink is loose. It is NOT falling off. It, too, will be fixed. |
