- This is really nice place: a quiet neighborhood, the landloards living on the ground floor are quiet and friendly -- we never heard them up in the apppartment --, from the porch you can watch lots of birds in the trees on your own and on neighboring lots, with a glimpse of the ocean in the background. The best is the big monkeypod tree on the front side of the house, right in front of the windows of the living room and the bedroom. The bedroom also has a great view of Haleakala mountain (the bathroom too). The kitchen is roomy, has lots of daylight and is fully functional. The living room is rather cozy but certainly has space enough for just two people. The location is such that a number of beautiful beaches are a few minutes away by car (you likely are not going to walk there in the heat). You do hear Highway 31 in the background, comparable to the noise from the ocean, but hey, the highway is also how you get there yourself, and it takes you to other beautiful beaches further South. The appartment has its own stairway and entrance, so you live there pretty much like in a single-family home of your own. You may want to bring mosquito spray because you may occasionally be bitten when on the porch in the morning or evening. Will definitely look for this place again if we make it back to Mau'i.
