Beach Street Cottage

What I liked best about the unit is the location to all things. We are from the Chicago land area. To drive 1 hour somewhere is nothing. We could reach everything we wanted to see in 1 hour or less. We loved have 3 bedrooms for 6 people. The kitchen was just what we needed. And have 2 baths worked well. We are all girls so 3 bathrooms would of been better but you can't have everything. It was nice to have beach and house towels to use. The washer/dryer were great. Have a hair dryer in each bathroom was a plus. And there was a small bottle of Aloe lotion in one that came in very handy one day. I have all little ones so we did put all of the pretty vase decorations on tables and shelves up high so they wouldn't break. Thank goodness nothing got broken. We loved having the shelf in the kitchen. It became our brag area. Every time we came home from a new adventure we displayed our family picture. We tried the Hukilau Cafe our first day and loved it. The Surfin Tacos was good too. And Keneses was really good as well. Nice and local and great feel. The only recommendation I have is to make sure if someone is arriving at night like we did is to have lights on in the carport/driveway. We couldn't find the house numbers in the dark and missed the driveway 3 times. Traveling 9 hours by plan with 4 kids and arriving at 10pm local time (3am home time) might of had a little to do with it. But by morning we were blown away by the view. The neighbors were helpful in figuring our the garbage system and said they were available for any other questions we might have. The beach was a nice walking distance and made for fun exploring. My oldest daughter said it was her favorite beach. The only other thing was the roosters. They started crowing between 3 and 4 am but I was on vacation and had no problem blocking them out. They were not outside the window but sounded off in the neighborhood distance. Nice change from car horns and fast traffic around our house. The house was lovely. Had all the same things from home and within walking distance of a grocery store and post office. Thank you for making your home available. We just wish the house had been available for the 4 extra days we wanted to stay but did get 2 extra out of it. Thanks again. We would recommend your house to anyone.

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

The Hauula Ocean Front Villa was amazing! What a great getway to experience life on the northeast shore of Oahu. The villa had everything we needed, the kitchen was well supplied with appliances and gadgets to make us feel at home. The 3 bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The best part was the ocean views and experiencing walking on the beach anytime we wanted! It was enjoyable to sit outside and experience the sunrise while sipping morning coffee. The best part was being able to snorkel to see the fish and coral right off the beach, outside the door. The convience of Hauula and the grocery store there plus the local restaurant made it easy if we didn't want to cook. With Kam highway right outside the door, it was easy to see the sights further up the north shore. Those are a must see! Tish was always helpful and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was safe and happy. Thanks for a memorable beautiful island experience! I definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the island!

The beach house was very nice and the owner was fantastic to us. The view was incredible. I would definitely recommend this beach house to others!

Beach Street Cottage

Thank you for this wonderful holiday in this very comfortable house. There was everything we needed for our stay and also extra "goodies" such as boogieboards, beach towels, snorkel equipment and beach chairs -- great!! The beaches on the north shore, particulary the waimea beach and kailua beach, were great and we also saw dolphins. Mostly the weather was not so good on the north shore (rainy) and so we often drove to south oahu such as waikiki beach. The best parts of our trip were the "Get Lost" Hummer-Tour by KOS Tours, were we have seen a lot of Movie-Sets at the Kualoa-Ranch and the one day trip to Big Island. We can also recommend a visit of the Dole Plantation, Germaines Lu'au, Pearl Harbor and the Macademia Nut Farm (close to the Kualoa Ranch). The best restaurants close to Hauula were Kahuku-Grill in Kahuku, Giovannis-Shrimp-Truck in Kahuku and Jameson's by the Sea in Haleiwa. A good place for breakfast is "Papa Ole", which is located very close to the house (max. 5 minutes to walk). There is also a supermarket and a post office very close (in the same shopping centre as "Papa Ole"). We will definitely travel again to oahu!!

Hale Makani Kai

the best part about renting this place was being this close to ocean. Most of the time that was spent at makani kai was on the deck overlooking the water. It was clear to us that the owner of the rental wanted us to be comfortable for the week...thanks. We found that we didn't need to be constantly sightseeing or involved in tourist activities when we had such a great place to just relax and hang out. I would recommend this location to anyone planning a vacation to oahu.

Hale Makani Kai

We loved staying at Hale Makani Kai! The owners were very helpful, accommodating, and so nice! The home was very comfortable for six adults. The view was AMAZING! Great location! We loved the Passionfruit Smoothies just down the road at Tropiciana.

Katie P., Providence, UT, 8.8.10

Hale Makani Kai

It was wonderful - lovely condo, perfect position, Tish was lovely with lots of helpful info on places on the island, wonderful weather, I really could go on forever. We were a family of 6 adults and 1 baby and 1 toddler. We all had a superb time, and the Polynesian Cultural Centre up the road was just amazing. The family all went back twice! The scenery around was amazing, and Pearl Harbour not far away. All we could need (also, the Kuala (?) Ranch down the road was good fun, as we did the TV and Film Tour in their bus. Brilliant. I'd love to think I could come back again, but honestly don't think it's likely. Please pass on our thanks to Tish and her hubby for a wonderful, wonderful time. Marian and Edd Cutler

MARIAN C., PLYMOUTH, DEVON, ENGLAND, 7.2.10

Beach Front Paradise 312

The unit was as described. Right on the beach and also has a pool. Across the street is a retirement home with a long driveway and is a good place to stretch your legs. The bedroom is small but very comfortable. The window is next to the bed and lets all the street noise in. Almost every day a rooster would crow at the crack of dawn. We saw a few small ants and the lanlord said that was common there and hard to get rid of. Outside at the parking lot there was often a foul smell. I think it was the septic system. They were in the process of overhauling the onsite restaurant. There aren't any nearby grocery stores or restaurants so you have to plan for that. Overall we had a very good time.

Steve W., Hixson, Tennessee, 5.28.10

Beach Street Cottage

The Beach Street Cottage was a great place to stay. We felt very comfortable staying there because it was furnished with the comforts of home. The beds were great and very comfortable. The ceiling fans kept it cool enough to enjoy living there. We loved having the grocery store so close to us. Just a hop skip and a jump. It was nice to have beach chairs and umbrellas and boogie boards to use while we were there and we didn't have to rent them. The best place we found to eat was Kahukas Grill in the town of Kahuka. The food was great and you get a lot of it!!! We just loved having such a nice place to stay. We loved being able to cook our meals there and enjoy a nice walk on the beach in the evening and the morning. My advice to someone else is that you don't need to bring bath towels or beach towels, they were provided. We could have used that space in our suitcases to pack other things besides towels. Bring earplugs because there are roosters that crow every morning.

Carolyn L., Logan, Utah, 5.20.10

Beach Front Paradise 312

This was a great place to stay. It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. They even provided extra air mattresses which were helpful since we were traveling with a small child. We had no problems while we were there and the view was amazing... we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Haley W., Las Vegas, Nevada, 4.5.10

Beach Street Cottage

The house was well maintained and quite modern. The furniture, appliances and BBQ were all nearly new and clean. We had hoped to be a bit closer to the beach but this is Oahu after all and it was only a short walk. When booking the unit we didn't realize how far it was from Honolulu but that was both a good and bad factor. New Year's Eve sounded like a bad night in Kandahar including a savage fistfight nearby at 0430 hrs - kept waking up our 20 month old. Grocery stores, restaurants and great beaches were all close by. We would rent at this location again but not over a major holiday.

Ren D., Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, 1.6.10

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

Everything about the house was extremely good. The size, the facilities, all the stuff was workign and well maintained. Kitchen was awesome - very big and very conveninent. Did not have a garbase disposer in the sink but that was a minor inconvenience. It did get a bit noisy with traffic in the front bedroom but again after day one you get used to it !!!! The views were awesome, sunrises were fantastic and the beach was right at our door step. It was safe for the kids and great for walking/running in the beach in the morning. The lady in charge of the house was always available on the phone for questions/help and even offered to help us with some coupons for local attractions. The customer service was excellent and we even enjoyed dinner gift certificate from them as a token of their appreciation because we had to wait a bit after check in time for the house to be cleaned. That really amazed us all. I would recommend this house to all my friends and being away from Waikiki got us acces to amazing but less crowded beaches on the north shore. If you are a first time visitor, be ready to drive a bit as you would want to do the touristy stuff but otherwise this is great for a return visitor. The Polynesian Cultural Center was 5 minutes away and kids seem to love that - so we went two days in a row!!! We ate at the turtle beach resort restaurant and grocery stores nearby were very very good. Love it, would do it again.

Shantha R., Sunnyvale, CA, 7.27.09

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

The unit was great as far as accomodating our needs in terms of roominess, up-to-date appliances and cleanliness, however, it does need some rust proofing and new blinds. The best part was the privacy and the ocean right outside the garden. Our best pictures will be of our children playing in the sand and ocean. This is a quaint and beautiful little area and I hope it remains that way. Performers at the PCC were fantastic, funny and so kind to us visitors.

Laura F., Champaign, IL, 7.2.09

Hale Makani Kai

Our family of six adults stayed there for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed grilling on the deck overlooking the ocean. The owners were very nice and helpful with information on where to go and what to see. Don't miss the Waimea Valley! It is a beautiful place and you can swim at the water fall there. Thanks again for a wonderful trip!

Janet H., Round Rock, Tx, 6.28.09

Beach Front Paradise 312

We just got back from staying at this condo. The condo is in the "country" part of Oahu. The building was a bit run down and the property is not kept up well. The condo itself is nice but it is used looking. The views of ocean are amazing and having a larger patio area was nice. I wasn't too happy with whoever is cleaning the condo. I wasn't sure if the sheets on the beds were clean and washed (so I washed them myself) and there were cobwebs and small spiders in basically every corner. There were even cobwebs on the decor and candles in the kitchen. We had some problems with ants in the kitchen and bath. There is no a/c but there is a floor fan and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The things I did like was everything you needed for your stay was provided: beach toys, beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, iron, hair dryer, detergent and everything you needed to cook in the kitchen. The patio door lock broke while we were there and the owner had it fixed the next day. The beach was great too. This isn't a resort quality condo but if you're lookng for a moderate place to stay with access to a pool and the beach then this is the place for you. Remember this condo is on the Windward part of the island-- it is quite breezy.

Stephanie & Eric G., Glendora, CA, 6.25.09

Beach Street Cottage

First time to to rent from this agency and was very happy. The unit was very clean and had almost everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. The area where the unit is located is a very local neighborhood so do not expect it to be like Waikiki. The beach which is accesible by walking is not an ideal beach but it has great sunrises. There are really great public beaches very close by car so expect to drive to a great beach but not far. If you are renting make sure you rent a big enough vehicle to hold cooler, snorkel gear ,chairs, boogie boards, etc. If you are going to rent surf boards make sure you get a roof racked vehicle. Overall a very clean, comfortable house which is close to the North Shore, Polynesian Cultural Center etc. Grocery store right across street has the great fresh ahi salads right in the front door but for better selection head north to the bigger stores. There is no A/C but lots of ceiling fans so in the summer it could get hot during the day but at night it was comfortable. Be prepared to hear the neighbors and the numerous chickens which will wake you up like clock work in the early morning.

Mike B., Spring, Texas, 3.21.09

Beach Front Paradise 312

What I liked the best about the unit I rented was THE VIEW!! Wow - the ocean was right there. It was great. The place was comfortable. Just wish there was counter space at the bathroom sink. Otherwise, the place was small but nice. We were happy to find lawn chairs, beach toys for the kids, etc. in the storage closet. First impressions (curb appeal of the place) was a little disappointing.

Todd W., Vermilion, AB, 3.6.09

Hale Makani Kai

The unit was very clean and the customer service A-plus! The Owners were very very accommodating. The ocean view was spectacular. It was nice to be out of the busy traffic in Waikiki Beach etc. Very relaxing. The weather was great and the ocean was warm... Great Holiday....

Sandra M., Henderson, Nevada, 10.5.08

Hale Makani Kai

The Owners were fantastic! They had everything that we needed for our vacation in Hawaii. Every morning we would get up and watch the sunrise and at night sit on the deck and relax with the sound of the waves coming up on the shore. This was the most relaxing vacation ever. We will be back again for another family vacation. Thank you for a wonderful time at your beautiful house.

The unit was truly beautiful on the inside, it was great to have a home away from home!

Sara H., Graham, AL, 6.15.08

The view of the house is beautiful. We watched sun rise from the deck. The Owner is very helpful in every way. We stayed at Oahu for 8 days, it seems not long enough. Turtle Bay is very close by where we stay. It is a good place to get familiar with our snorkel equipment before we headed to Hamauma Bay. Just drive into the Turtle Bay Resort and tell the gate keeper that you are going to the beach, you will be given a parking ticket to place in your car, then park your car in yellow lines that are assigned for public beach tourists. It is free. Don't forget to watch sunset on Sunset Beach, the name says every thing. Hamauma Bay is safe to snorkel for children and adults who are not good swimmers but make sure to wear water shoes, it is kind of rocky or I should say, reefy. :) Don't forget Diamond Head Crater, go there early so it won't get too hot. It is worth the hike, the view is awesome!! Polynesian Cultural Center is just 5 minutes away from Owners place. Make sure to go there before 2 PM. If you cannot finish visiting the whole Culture Center in one day, you can go back with the same ticket within 3 days. Don't forget to try the fresh shrimps from the shrimp trucks on north shore, we went to Romy's, it is delicious, they only take cash. Waikiki Beach is full of activities, ABC Stores is the place to shop for chocolate covered macadamias, $1.99 a box, buying 4 boxes is cheaper. Also the Swap at Aloha Stadium every Wed., Sat, and Sunday is a good place to buy whatever you like. It cost $1.00 person to get in. Owners place has every thing that we need including beach towels, beach mates and bug spray. It shows how thoughtful she is. The house is steps away from the beach. We will be back; next time, the Big Island. Aloha!

Centrally located and Tish was a pleasure to work with. The road noice was terrible and very difficult to sleep.

There is a restaurant close to the Kualoa ranch, called the Tropicaina Bar and Grill. Their coconut shrimp were fantastic. The banana pancakes at the Huki Lau restaurant in Laie were so good, That place is a definite stop to eat. Ask for directions. The owners were great! They do have nice beach towels, I wish I had known to save room in my suitcase.

Linda P., Spanish Fork, UT, 1.15.08

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

Everything was very good. I would recommend the polynesian cultural center to anyone wanting to spend a whole day doing something that most people can enjoy since there is enough stuff that you may need 2 days to see everything. If you need to go back to just look at the demonstations of the hawaiian culture you dont have to pay again as long as you dont plan on going to the luau again.

Diana or Kenneth M., EUGENE, OREGON, 10.14.07

Hale Makani Kai

This is a great place to stay with your family. Only minutes away from a beach, and you have a small beach of your own. The view from the deck is the best, watching the sunset and rise.

Catherine H., Warren, OR, 8.29.07

Hale Makani Kai

the home was very comfortable, clean, everything we needed and more. view spectacular.pleasant, peaceful and quiet. bedding was nice as well, good beds.wish we had more beach out front but just down the way is alot of beach access with plenty of sand to enjoy. the trip to Waikiki is not too far worth the travel time for quiet.all around experience, i would visit again.thank you. The thing we liked the best was the location and the people. The owners were great, they made us feel very welcome and were very helpful with anything we needed. The best part of our trip were the beaches, Oahau is truly "Blue Hawaii", we have been to all of the Islands and the best beaches are are Oahau, the white sand and the blue, blue water. The best restaurant was Bubba Gumps. Best picture was taken by my husband of the beaches. The unit was very clean and it had basic furnishings, a good home base and the view of the ocean was incredible. I would recommend anyone who has not been to the PCC, should go, it is done very well and it's a good exposure to all of the differrent cultures the show and lauau were the best I've seen.

Grace T., Crestline, CA, 5.1.07

We had a great time here. The house was super clean, and very enjoyable. Sunset beach was the beach that we went to, and that was really nice, it was fun to watch all the surfers!!! All in all our stay was enjoyable, and I know that my husband and I will be back to enjoy the scenery. We love Hawaii, Mahalo, and hope to be back next year.

Diane W., Parker, CO, 4.17.07

The view was beautiful, the owner was extremely helpful answering questions, the basics of the house were provided for.

Stephanie H., Tonasket, Washington, 4.9.07

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely house. It was equipped with everything we needed. The three bedroom-three bath set up was perfect for our group of three couples. The house was well maintained and decorated beautifully. We liked the open layout of the living room, dining room and kitcher. Best of all was the location right on the water and very close to a lovely beach. We were able to explore the rest of the island easily from this location. I am still hearing the surf with a smile on my face. So glad we chose this house. The only problem was the traffic noise from the road that could be heard in the front bedroom.

Patricia W., Leawood, Kansas, 3.26.07

The owners are two of the nicest people around. We arrived at Midnight and they were there to welcome us. The view is great, and the location is fantastic.

David S., Sherwood Park, Alberta, 5.19.06

Hauula Ocean Front Villa

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a perfect little house for a small family. The master bedroom has a great view of the ocean. Beautiful kitchen with all appliances you would need. We enjoyed staying on the North Shore as it is away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki/Honolulu and yet you are only 40 minutes away from town. Great beaches on the North Shore! If you stay here, bring your own beach towels as the towels provided are for the house only. There is only one t.v. (in the living room) There are other houses around us, but did not encounter anyone else, so it was very quiet during our stay.

Brenda H., Sherwood, OR, 5.10.06

Hale Makani Kai

It was the perfect vacation. The rental was bright, clean, had all the basic necessities (which I did not expect) and the ocean is your backyard!!! The owners were the perfect hosts, helpful, friendly, full of useful information. My husband and I stayed there with our 3 children ages 24, 14 and 9. They loved every minute of it. We will definitely stay here again. It's a can't miss.

Susan C., Aurora, CO, 4.29.06

The owners are great people. The place was spotless. We had a great time even though the weather wasn't happening.

William F., Loomis, CA, 4.16.06

Hale Makani Kai

The owners went way beyond the call assisting my family during our entire stay. They really wanted to make sure my families 1st trip to Ohau would be special & memorable. The house is pristine & immaculate! Nothing frayed or worn here. The owners did direct us to the "Macademia Nut Factory Outlet," which is maybe three miles away. The name is deceiving, they have a $15.00 Movie & T.V. Tour out back, that's not advertised. It's a total "Blast!" Hawaiians put on a awesome show with fire dancing, & interactive audience participation! Worth checking out,(don't wear fancy clothes)! The owners beach house is away from the touristy Waikiki, & the hordes of people. My family could not have experienced the REAL Hawaii, the way we did had we stayed in a tired hotel or condo...The Aloha Bowl Swap Meet is the best place on the island for Souvenirs, collectibles, cheap Pearls etc. Also check out the Hawaiian singer Brother "Israel," he is 100% Hawaiian and appeals to

David J., Lakeland, Florida, 3.24.06

Hale Makani Kai

We had a wonderful time. The house is great, the view is even better. The house is right on the ocean. The mountains across the street. The owners are so friendly and nice. Our family could not have stayed at a nicer place. Thank you.
