We loved our week at the Happy Kailua Beach House. It has a great location -- half a block walk from Kalama Beach, close to town, and a short drive/walk from beautiful Lanikai Beach. Our family of five was very comfortable in the house, and we were grateful that it was stocked with everything we might need. We enjoyed hanging out on the beach, boogie boarding and body surfing, ocean kayaking (booked with Vacation Rental Agent), snorkeling at Lanikai and Hanauma Bay, exploring the rest of the island, visiting Pearl Harbor, and eating shave ice at Island Snow and Matsumoto's. I can't think of a better place to take a vacation!

The customer service was outstanding from Mary via phone and excellent communication with Debra , helpful and kind. I loved the unit, it was a perfect beach home. I would suggest you eat at Buzzs Steakhouse, very good food and friendly service. I loved the calm ocean at Laniki! I grew up in Kailua, and it was a very special vacation for us. I usually stay on the North Shore. I will be back and would highly recommend this lovely beach home.

The house was perfectly equipped for a family. It was so nice and secluded in a safe neighborhood, only five minutes from the beach. We walked through a beautiful grassy park to get to the beach. We liked that restaurants were within short distance. About 8 blocks away. We had our choice of American, Mexican, Chinese, Thai and just about any kind of food. I would definitely go back...

We had a wonderful time in Hawaii. The scenery is fantastic, the weather gorgeous. The rental was clean & well equipped, and suited our needs very well. We absolutely loved being walking distance to such a beautiful beach. We appreciated having boogie boards, beach chairs and towels there, so we could start enjoying the beach first thing. A nice way to get over jet lag. It's hard to pick a favorite part of our trip. Our favorite scenic drive would be going from Kailua to Hanauma Bay. We loved snorkeling in Shark's Cove, and boogie boarding there in Kailua/Kalama beach. Our favorite food was banana macademia nut pancakes at Boots & Kimo's, and the shave ice at Kokonuts in Koko Marina Shopping Center. (I know, not exactly high brow tastes, but what do you expect w/4 kids? :) I would definitely recommend this house and rental agency to my friends. My only suggestions to improve the rental would be to add drying racks/clothes lines, and measuring spoons in the kitchen. You can tell we had a great time, if these were our "biggest" issues! Thanks for a superb 20th anniversary vacation!

1. It was so close to the most beautiful beach. 2. Didn't need any. 3. Close beach, air conditioning, Hanameau Bay! 4. Zippy's 5. Laughing at Diamond Head. 6. The entire trip. 7. It was perfect....... 8. Stay in Oahu, close to a swimable beach. 9. The head rests on the airplane seats actually fold upward to keep the head from rolling side to side when sleeping! Had a great time! Loved Oahu!

This was a wonderful rental! Clean, simple, room enough for 6 adults and 1 infant not to feel cramped, and had pretty much any amenity you would need. It is within close walking distance to the beautiful Kailua Beach Park, and we spent most of our time there during the day. That part of the beach seemed particularly calm and non-crowded. We will definitely choose this rental again when we return to Kailua.

I didnt have time this trip, but next trip, I'm looking forward to just staying on the beach and not checking out the entire island!!

Comment by Owner/Manager:
This review would have been a lot higher if they had done just that.
The customer service I received was excellent. The agent was always available to answer questions and provide information. What I liked best about the unit I rented was it's location in Kailua - easy to get to ant spot on Oahu withing 30-60 minutes and far away from the touristy areas.

This unit was centrally located close to shopping, restaurants, and churches. Cute house that supplied all the things one might need for a day on the beach. The outside of the house is beautifully landscaped (nicest on the block). The air conditioners in the bedrooms were great . A good night's sleep is a must! The beaches were close and great. Close to the water and the walks on the beach were just beautiful. We had a super time. Just to note we did have a $500.00 security deposit, please send. Mahalo! Dorene and William Randall

Great house, we all really enjoyed our stay. We really liked walking to the beach, and along the beach. The proximity to the town and other island attractions was great. I would recommend this house to anyone!
James M., Vancouver, BC, 6.3.08
The house is clean, organized, and well maintained. It also was fully stocked with beach toys and gear for kids and families. Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay very much and had plenty of room in this cute house.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Happy Kailua Beach House. There was plenty of room for our four children both inside and outside the house. The location was perfect. Just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. The beach was definitely the highlight of the vacation. Our two older children (7 and 5) enjoyed boogie boarding, while the younger two splashed in the waves and played in the sand. The depth of the water and size of waves was perfect for young children. I also loved running along the beach each morning, watching the sunrise. The beach was quiet and clean. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone traveling to Hawaii.

Rosemary M., Santee, California, 2.4.08
The Happy Kailua Beach House was perfect for our vacation. It was clean, fully equipped for all our needs, and toys for the beach. It was very comfortable and conveniently located to the best restaurants, grocery, gift stores, and to all of Oahu. I even had the opportunity to meet famous Amos the "Cookie Man" who personally signed my cookie bags I was bringing home for gifts. My advice to someone else staying at this unit, don't bother to pack alot of clothing. Bring your bathing suit, a cover up, enjoy the beach, and the true aloha spirit. I'll be returning!!!
Ligaya A., Isleton, Ca, 10.17.07
The location was convenient to everything on the island and such a quiet neighborhood. Was a very relaxing atmosphere. Debra was great...we only spoke on the phone but she was so accommodating. Our group of 6 ate at Pinky's twice and would rate that our favorite restaurant. We found the shopping at So. Kailua and the adjoining shops to be our favorite on the island! Lanikai beach is a must, we would spend more time there our next trip. All of the shopkeepers in Kailua were friendly and happy to share their insights as to their favorites on the island and in Kailua. Just a great all-around experience. Thank you so much for sharing Happy Kailua House!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! this was perfect...our children wanted to spend the entire week at the beach....but watch out for those jellyfish!
Mimi B., , , 8.18.07
The home was large enough that four adults and two teenage children weren't crawling all over each other. It had great "fung shui" - great atmosphere. Nice and light and airy. Good size bedrooms - large master bedroom. Easy access to beach. We will have many happy memories from the Happy Kailua beach house on Happy (Hau 'oli) Street!
Eileen D., Los Alamitos, CA, 7.31.07
I've already told many of my friends that if they ever go to Oahu, I've got the rental for them! Just loved it!!
Karen B., Thornton, CO, 6.21.07
I liked that the house had a grill and fun beach equipment like floats and boogie boards that we could use! This house is literally 5 houses from the beach! Grace who suggested Kailua Beach was very friendly and Debbie, the manager of the house was very accommodating and allowed us to check out at a time that worked with our flight schedule! The best part of my trip was biking down the volcano in Maui. The best restarant was Roy's in Oahu and Mama's Fish House in Maui. Some of the best pictures were of the sunrise in Maui and the sunset on Waikiki. My advice for someone staying in this unit is to take advantage of Kailua Beach. We saw lots of beaches in Hawaii and it was by FAR the most beautiful and not as crowded as everywhere else. Also, something worth mentioning is that the people who hang out on Kailua Beach seemed to be more attractive too! If I could go back to Hawaii, I would skip Oahu and check out the Big Island. Oahu is packed with people and rush hour is annoying. You can take a plane hopper to Oahu for a day trip or spend one night there and fly back to another island. That's what I wish we would have done. Maui is stunningly beautiful ;)
Dina B., Austin, TX, 6.12.07
The best restaurant I found was Hale Iwa Joe's. Its a little distance away in Kaneohe hidden in a residential area but it has a fabulous view overlooking mountains and gardens and the food is great.
Andy K., San Ramon, CA, 5.10.07
The house was everything promised - we had a wonderful time.
Andrew S., Lake Forest, CA, 4.16.07
We enjoyed the sunny atmosphere all the windows provided. We took advantage of the non-pay washer and dryer. This allowed us to wash the beach towels after use so they didn't become musty. We liked the hardwood floors and no carpet. Close enough to easily walk to the beach, which we did on numerous occasions. It was just right for our needs on this trip because of the aging relatives, but too pricey to use on a future trip by ourselves.
Bill M., Pleasanton, CA, 11.5.06
The Happy Kailua Beach House provided a comfortable and convenient place to stay. The Kailua beach was just a block away which was very beautiful and calming to the soul.
Dianne F., Saratoga, CA, 10.9.06
Perfect home close to the perfect Hawaiian beach. Very clean and equipped with everything you need in the house and on the beach. Very nice sized rooms. Much nicer than the pictures on the internet show. We loved it and will highly recommend it to others.
