What my family & I liked best about the Hualani Cottage was that we were living in a residential neighborhood and were a part of a nice community. Customer service received was excellent, as the property owner lived on-site and tended to our requests immediately. The best part of my trip was the balmy, Hawaiian weather. Our family missed a blizzard back home so we were so happy. The best restaurant I found was The Food Company, which was recommended by the Hualani Cottage guest book. The best picture I took was of my children eating a huge smoothie bowl at Lanikai Juice. I can't wait to tell all my friends that the Friday lunch buffet at the Hickam AFB Enlisted club is a delicious Hawaiian menu well worth the try. My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be to be a returning visitor to HI to truly appreciate not being in the tourist Waikiki area. The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is driving the H3 -- it's a serene and beautiful drive only experienced in HI. The best "insider tip" about the Hualani Cottage while on this trip was the washer & dryer outside and around the back of the cottage -- great for families !!

Overall, the unit was just okay. It did have plenty of room and worked well with our infant. There were some things that could have made a big difference, but just missed the mark. The beds were all SUPER HARD. IF that works for you, then it should be great. We had to purchase mattress pads and extra pillows to be able to sleep. Also, the bed linen was not great either. The original linen had to flat sheets on the bed (no fitted sheet) and it got to be a bit of problem. We did find a second set of sheets (new) and once we put those on, it was a bit better. They only provided 2 rolls of toilet paper which was abit of an incovenience. We had a big problem with ants (typical for Hawaii) but these guys were QUICK! If we left anything in one spot for more than a few hours, it got covered. The unit is about 3 1/2 blocks to beach so it is walkable, but it was more convenient and faster to drive to Kailua Beach Park. Definitely go to Yo' Mama's yogurt, Kalapawai Market, Lanikai Juice, Aloha Salads and the Mexican restaurant in the same neighborhood - all very good choices!

We enjoyed the convenience of the Hualani Cottage; it was relatively close to everything in Kailua!
The customer service we received was excellent! Misty, the woman we received service from, even loaned us her own personal Pak n Play for our infant to use!
Our favorite restaurant (we ate breakfast there four times this trip, three last trip!) was Cinnamon's!!! Yum!
We loved (re-)introducing our two year old and infant to the warm Pacific Ocean. We live in WA State and our water is very chilly!
