The house was very open and the pool was very refreshing. The home itself could really use a good deep-cleaning. It looks like it is just rented over and over with light cleaning and no one has deep cleaned in a long time. Also the home is older and could really use some updating. The ant and cockroach situation is a little extreme. We have stayed at many rental properties on many of the islands, and this house by far had the worst insect problem yet. The ants were everywhere. I couldn't even leave makeup in the counters. And we'd wake up to dead cockroaches on the floor every morning. The house also does not have air conditioning which was not a problem in the living areas because of the airflow, but the bedrooms were very hot. The proximity to the beach is very nice, although waves are too big for young kids. We ended up driving to a calmer beach most of the time. Overall the stay was fine, but I would not choose this house again.

It amazes me that upon check out these guest said they had a great time and enjoyed their stay. Not a word about any of these issues. We are very clear when we meet with them that if they have any issues they should let us know right away so that we may resolve the issue and ensure utmost satisfaction. We did not receive any calls on these issues, which limits us from neither solving or even validating that these things were true. We did not find any dead roaches upon entering to clean the property. The home is not brand new and therefore quite rustic in its charm. It is very open and airy, in fact the living area actually opens up and leads out to the pool. It is for this reason that the owner never felt AC would be needed in the home. The house receives roach treatment every 6 weeks although with the open floor plan it is hard to say that none get in during the time the doors are open to the pool. As evident in past reviews the home is cleaned well and we are always on hand to assist guests should the need arise. Its unfortunate we were not given the opportunity to satisfy this guest but I doubt we could as this home just does'nt seem to be the right fit for this traveler.

Perfect beach house for group of 10 (3 adult couples & 4 teens). House very comfortable and several areas for entire party to sit together and talk story or play games. A stone's throw from beach with safe swimming and boogie boarding and long walks. Pool is nice for those not used to swimming In ocean. Did not lack usual home amenities. Wifi worked great. Had speakers that Nano or other such device cod be plugged into to play your music. Kitchen counter and chairs all around it made it a great communal area. Support staff very nice and helpful. Lots of places to eat close by and for board rentals. Was worth the rent charged and that's something for me to say.

The location was excellent. The house layout was super for my family of 6 adults and 2 children. Lots of room to be all together or little spaces for time on your own. The service we received from Kiaaina was also excellent. Every request or question we had, he got back to us within the hour. Very accommodating. The best part of my trip was having all my family together for 2 weeks and being able to do everything they could. Lucy"s was a great eating experience and they were very considerate of the children's needs. We didn't eat out a lot because we had the BBQ and it was just nice to sit around the pool and eat dinner in the evening. Besides, everyone wanted to chill after a day at the beach.

Kalaka Beach side exceeded our expectations! The house was great, location was outstanding. The beach was just a stones throw from the house and the kids loved playing in the surf. Pleanty of restaurants and other attractions close by. Everything we needed was at the house which made our stay that much more enjoyable. The whole family agreed that we would definately stay at Kalaka Beach Side again!

This is a wonderful house for a large group. We were 9 adults and 3 kids and we all seemed to have plenty of space. It was great to just pop out to the beach for a quick swim and then come back in for breakfast or whatever. The house had everything we needed, was clean and just the right level of quality. We very much appreciated the big, soft beach towels, boogie boards and beach toys as well as the baby things and inside toys. The sheets and beds were of nice quality and we slept like babies hearing the sound of the surf. the house has great ventilation and that can make it noisy. If one person was up, we were all up as the sound carried through out the house. We would definitely rent this house again. We had a great time and I already miss it!

The house and yard was beautiful. Main area opening to the pool was grand and very functional. The House had a great breezeways through out to keep it cool. The king sized beds were great! The roof was leaking, the TV was broken and there was a rip in the screen near our children's bedroom which caused us to worry about security. The customer service was excellent, however. That is, until the caretaker left for his own vacation 3 days after we arrived for our two week stay. I also didn't realize how rainy and cold the windward side of Oahu is in December and wish, when I'd discussed possible houses on the island, that somebody had informed me of that. Having said that, it is a beautiful beach (wish we could have used it -- the man o' wars on shore prevented it) and, had the pool and/or air temperature been warmer, our kids would have loved the pool.

The rental beach house had everything that you would want....home from home (beach towels/bathroom towels and beautifully comfortable beds!) The customer service was superior to any customer service I have received before. The best part.... being on your island and in Hawaii :-) We frequesnted Pinky's when we were not BBQ'ing at the house (great BBQ) Relax, enjoy and feel special in this amazing house! Next time I come back I am going to the Polynesian Center..... Mahalo for everything :-)

You won't get a better location on Kailua beach with such privacy. It is a lovely home and very nicely upgraded in most areas. There are plenty of beach towels, chairs, boogie boards and kid toys. The kitchen is very well equipped and they keep a nice amount of condiments in the pantry so you don't have to buy everything if you feel like cooking. The sound of the surf at night was wonderful. We hope to go back next year!
