The Makani Kai was wonderful. It was very clean and comfortable. The rooms were a generous size and very comfortable for the six of us. We enjoyed all the outdoor living spaces for dining and relaxing. The welcome basket was filled with tasty Hawaiian goodies. It was relaxing to have a home base so that my family could enjoy our time together while we explored Oahu. It was an easy 2 block walk to the beach at Kailua and an invigorating walk to the beautiful Lanikai beach. I'm so glad we chose to stay in Kailua instead of Waikiki. When we were interested in braving the traffic we could visit Waikiki with the tourist shops and beaches. The best part of our trip was getting involved with Aaron's dive shop where two of our daughters became certified as scuba divers and my 80 year old mother learned to snorkle. Breakfast at Cinnamon's was so great that we wished that we had visited them earlier in our trip. My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be to check the floor plan and be aware that the half-bath is located outside the main house. It worked out OK, but was a little inconvenient. The best insider tip I received was to visit the shrimp trucks on the North Shore. Wow! For our next visit we will be sure to spend more time diving on the Leeward side of the island. We did go to the Polynesian Cultural Center. The food at the Luau was much better than expected and the Horizons show was incredible. It was so easy living in Kailua with access to plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. The location was safe. It was a great trip. Thanks!

Suggestion: Unit needs a new stove/oven. Takes an eternity for it to preheat. Otherwise a great time!
