About Kuilima Estates Vacation Rentals

Kuilima Estates is located on Oahu's scenic north shore near great beaches, shopping and dining. One of Hawaii's most picturesque regions, Kuilima Estates has everything you need for a relaxing and luxurious Hawaii vacation.

Things To Do
There are many activities available on Oahu's north shore from water sports to land explorations. Golf is exceptional in this area with two courses at the oceanfront Turtle Bay Resort. Visit Waimea Valley to explore the botanical gardens and take a swim at Waimea Falls. Horseback riding and mountain bike riding are also offered in this area. At the north shore's Dillingham Field you can go for a glider ride or go skydiving to see this scenic region from above. A visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie is a fun family activity with themed villages displaying the different Pacific Island cultures, interactive exhibits and also an IMAX theater. They also host an elaborate and theatrical dinner show.

Nearby Beaches
Kuilima Cove is a lovely white sand beach protected by a natural rock barrier with shallow, calm water that is excellent for snorkeling. Located on the eastern side of the Turtle Bay Hilton, Kuilima Cove is a great place for children, with coral areas to explore, an abundance of colorful fish and also restrooms and showers. When large surf makes snorkeling at other beaches unfavorable this may be a good choice. The neighboring Bayview Beach sits in a protected cove between two limestone points and has a sandy bottom making it nice for swimming. During summer this is an excellent beach for water activities though high surf during winter months creates strong currents and swimming is not recommended. Take a drive along the north shore to see the many great beaches including famous surfing beaches like Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline.

Restaurants
Oahu's north shore offers numerous dining options including fine dining at Paakai's at Turtle Bay Resort where they specialize in local seafood and often feature live entertainment. Ola is located on the beach at Turtle Bay Resort with contemporary island cuisine also emphasizing fresh seafood dishes. The Kahuku Grill at the Kahuku Sugar Mill serves up delicious coconut shrimp and hearty cheeseburgers. In historic Haleiwa town you will have lots of choices from casual fare to gourmet. Cafe Haleiwa serves up a great breakfast, and enjoy harbor views during dinner at Haleiwa Joe's Seafood Grill. Shave ice at Matsumoto's is a local tradition and you can pick up fresh produce at meet the farmers every Thursday afternoon at the Haleiwa Farmers Market. For a traditional Hawaiian luau feast along with a dinner show visit the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie.

Shopping
Head over to historic Haleiwa town to shop in a variety of stores including art galleries, surf shops and boutique gift stores. Drive south down the eastern coast to the Kaneohe for more shopping including the Windward Mall with more than 100 merchants. A bit farther is Kailua town with a walkable downtown area with many interesting gift shops and art galleries to browse.

Getting Around
Renting a car is recommended when staying in a Kuilima Estates vacation rental so you can explore north shore beaches and attractions and also day trips to the windward shore as well as Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. Most major populated areas of Oahu can also be reached on the public transit system known as "TheBus."

Weather and Ocean Conditions
Sunny skies, mild temperatures and warm trade winds make Kuilima Estates an excellent vacation destination all through the year. Temperatures range from about 70 to 85 degrees F. throughout the year with rain and wind conditions varying in different areas throughout the Island. Rain showers are typically brief and light with ample sunshine even on the rainier days. Hawaii's predominant trade winds blow from the northeast bringing moisture-laden clouds that typically rain onto the mountains of the east and north shores creating green and lush landscapes. Trade winds are almost always calmest in the mornings so it's a good time to visit the beach. The north and eastern shores are generally a bit wetter and cooler than the south and west shores, and the winter months typically see more rain than summer. Ocean conditions vary each day though typically the north shore will have the calmest waters during the summer months and the south shore will have the calmest waters during the winter. Some beaches provide more protection from the open ocean, and if the waves are too big at the beach you visit then you may be able to find a more sheltered beach where water activities are safe. For swimming and ocean activities visit Oahu's lifeguarded beaches, obey all posted warnings and ask about the conditions on that day for the activities you choose.
