stayed for a week in july. first time in hawaii. i stayed with 2 other good friends (we're all 21years old). As long as you can afford a car rental this place is definitely for you. the converted space is BEAUTIFUL in the best neighborhood on the whole island on the best beach on the whole island. they had everything you might need to cook, bathe and clean etc. if your unfamilair with the island i would recommend spending your first night in waikiki to get the beach and nightlife out of your system because Lanikai will spoil you and nothing on the island will compare after that!
only things to look out for with this property...
-they do have young children so you can't be too loud and you may hear them cry in the morning (never was an issue with us)
-it's not beach front, you'll have to walk about 1/2 mile to get to water and another 1/2 mile to get to where there's a beach (both accessed through alleyways between millionare homes)
why it's worth it...
-you'll be living in a postcard!
-Lanikai and Kailua are amazing/safe neighborhoods and everyone's very happy/nice so you won't mind the walk to the beach (infact we jogged whenever we could because the area was too nice to ignore)

Clean, peaceful and well-equipped, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Garden Lanai. The thoughtful extras such as the covered parking were appreciated and the owners and rental agency were responsive to any questions we had. To anyone seeking an affordable, quality, self-catering home way from home on Oahu I totally recommend this unit.

We were very comfortable here and found this a good central location for our visit to the island. The rental left us needing nothing and made us feel at home, right down to daily visits from the cat. If you are looking for a quieter place from which to see the natural side of Oahu, this is a great place to stay.
The cottage was beautifully decorated and clean. It was quiet and provided a very homey environment. My daughter was not feeling well so we ended up spending quite a bit of time in the unit - fortunately, the garden was sunny and a beautiful spot to read while she rested. Good for those looking to relax and just be!
This was the perfect place to relax and really be on vacation...The unit was so clean and welcoming that it was like it became home and we had a hard time leaving. Lanikai beach really lived up to all it's amazing reviews and I can't wait to come back and bring friends and family.
As always, we enjoyed Lanikai! Our little house was nice and conveinient to Kailua, all the restaurant like Buzz's great, the beaches great. Not really an apartment for more than two people though, we found it cramped.
We really enjoyed all aspects of the Garden Lanai; from the location & ammentities to the privacy. It truly promotes relaxation. Having lived on & vacationed many times on Oahu, it really made us feel as though we never left & still lived there. The best part of our trip was catching up w/friends & locals. To enjoy the local atmosphere treat yourself to a wonderful meal at Buzz's (across from Kailua Beach). But make sure to bring cash or traveler's checks as they DO NOT accept credit cards! Also, go to "The Shack" (outside of Kailua town proper) to catch your favorite sporting events away from home;and make sure to remember the time difference from the mainland & east coast. Depending on the season & sports, games start as early as 7am local time! Also, make sure to buy plenty of snacks & drinks at the Longs, Safeway, or Foodland stores for your stay. Take advantage of the ammentities at the Garden Lanai & save some $$$ by eating some meals from there! And don't forget to sign up at Foodland or Safeway for their price saver cards; it's Free & will save you $$$ too! Lastly, buy the local daily newspaper to keep you informed of all of the local events taking place throughout the island of Oahu & outer islands; you will find many free things to do & see; And you'll be glad you did.
Very nice accomodations. Our only complaint was the construction noise next door that was a bit disruptive. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay.

Garden Lanai provided the ideal place for a relaxing vacation. Our typical day started with a wakeup call from the birds followed by a swim in the nearby ocean. The unit had all the conveniences. We especially enjoyed the barbeque. We certainly plan to return.

The download: best location in Oahu, BUT it's also the most rainy and you will have to walk 10 minutes to get to a sandy beach- a very lovely one! Renters are great people, BUT you will hear them upstairs some days more then others. The place is clean and cute, BUT I like most places in Lanikai- The area is cute, and Oahu's best beaches are near. In bad weather, we drove to the other side of the island. The owners are very helpful and nice.
We enjoyed our stay at the Garden Lanai. It was nicely decorated, clean and stocked with many nice little "extras". A peaceful place that made us feel at home. We would stay there again. Aloha :)
We had an excellent stay at the Garden Lanai. Without even knowing it we picked the best side of the island to be on. The Kailua and Lanikai Beaches were awesome. Buzz's Restaurant had great food. We really enjoyed the atmosphere there. The cottage was nice and secluded. The garden was a bit smaller than we expected. The picture on the internet made it look like there was more. However, it was very cozy. My husband and I had a romantic dinner on the patio. I loved the patio lights. The umbrella lights need a little help (half of them were out). We did have a hard time getting the BBQ to light. Make sure to bring matches. Kitchen was fully stocked. We enjoyed making breakfast all week , so that saved a little. The washer/dryer unit was so helpful. I will definitely pack lighter next time. The internet does not show pictures of the bedroom and I wasn't sure what to expect. I really enjoyed the room. It has bamboo walls and nice decor. The bed was very comfortable.
We stayed at The Garden Lanai 6 nights. The room was far better than what we saw in photos on the web-site. The garden lanai had everything we needed.(ex.many kinds of kichen tool, towels, iron etc...) The lanikai beach is fabulous. It took about 10 minutes on foot to the main beach, but we didn't feel it was distant. Walking to the beach was rather pleasant. We recommend the Garden Lanai if you want to spend relax time in Lanikai.
I thought it was the most coziest place I had ever seen. Even with the little "pitter patters" we heard upstairs, it was a very relaxing place to be. There was everything you needed in the home and the location was great. Going down the street and seeing one of the "Mok" islands was breathtaking. We had a great agent that hooked us up with with great deal. I would use him again.
Bob and I loved the garden, and the shady back yard too. The guest house was comfortable. every thing else about the place was nice. Loved all the food extras - spices, oil, etc. The washer and dryer worked great! We'd stay again. Lisa and Bob
The Garden Lanai is wonderful!!! Everything you could ask for and more. Very quiet, walk to the water, short drive to Buzz's and all the comforts of home. We will be back.
It was perfect for the two of us.
Very quiet and peacefull. The unit had all the comforts of home. The inside washer and dryer came in handy and knowing this meant we did not have to pack so much stuff.! Also, having your own private parking place was very convenient.
This was a great little get away and we really loved the birds! It was a beautiful setting. The owner really pays attention to the details. On our next visit, we'd try to stay at te Garden Lenai again.

The Garden Lanai was perfect for my husband and me. There was every possible ammenity. It is very cozy and you feel right at home. A great spot for 2 people.
The Garden Lanai was a great place to stay. Very cozy and comfortable... and private. It was a place we could call home. Very nice for walking, jogging, etc. A short walk to the beach and beautiful views of Kailua beach. We will stay there again.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The unit was so nice. Being an Interior Designer myself, I really appreciated the little touches. It was so relaxing. We walked down to the beach and had a very peaceful stay. We would definately stay there again. Aloha, The Lords
BEAUTIFUL rental and private. Although you are attached to the owners unit you would never know it. It has a completely seperate entrance and driveway so you feel as if you are in your own home. The lanai is great for relaxing. FANTASTIC LOCATION! Unit has all accomodations you could ask for and more! We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay again - no more hotels. The only reason for the 4 stars and not five was with 3 girls travelling - the bathroom was a bit small with only a pedastal sink - small, but very nice. Rental company was also fantastic in helping us with arrangements! Mahalo Nui Loa :-)

Very comfortable pillow-top queen bed and quiet location. The owners do have a baby who sleeps upstairs, but we could barely hear him and not at all during the night. We had a lovely stay, thank you!
The Garden Lanai has a beautiful kitchen with plenty of cooking/dining supplies, good washer and dryer, comfortable bed, soothing colors, quiet street close to beach, privacy- we were very much at home and would like to stay again in the future. Lanikai is the best location on the island!!
We loved this property as we had a rental car to travel the island as well as being able to go to local beaches and restaurants..........
It is a nice cozy place, not really convenient to the beaches, it's a walk carrying beach supplies or a drive with difficult parking. The weather was great and walking to loop each day was enjoyable. A very dog friendly place.

Beautifully furnished, spacious, very clean and generously equipped with everything that we needed for the stay and for the beach. Although not exactly on the beach, it is within easy walking distance (we could hear the gentle waves from the property). One of the most beautiful beaches we have ever been to, certainly much nicer than Waikiki, and frequented by very friendly locals, therefore relatively empty on weekdays but not overcrowded on weekends either. Plenty of restaurants/shopping within 5 minutes drive.Would certainly stay again. Waking up to sounds of the birds singing and gentle waves, blending our own fruit juice in the well-equipped kitchen, strolling down to the beach, then back again for a BBQ in the enclosed garden area... magical!
The most adorable place to stay that is fully stocked! A great walk to the beach from there too.
