Hale Moonrise was perfect for our family of seven people. The home was clean and well appointed except for outdoor furniture - only one chaise longue and several plastic chairs. We learned that this home was built for the Royal Family in 1929! So their spirits served us well. The layout gave everyone his or her own space while providing wonderful areas to be together. Of course, the view of the Mokalua Islands was outstanding! Julie provided great service on the day we moved in. We were able to snorkle out in the reef and swim with Honu (turtles) as well as rent kayaks and paddle to the island. rnHonestly, there is one major problem with the location of this property. Unfortunately, it is situated next to a public beach access. Our best insider tip would be to snorkel at "Shark's Cove" on the North Shore - OUTSTANDING! Also, go to Chai's Island Bistro in the Aloha Tower (Waikiki side) to have a yummy dinner and listen to the best local Hawaiian music. rnAloha! rn

What a great Hawaiian home! We loved the layout.

First, there is no way to adequately describe the beautiful view from Hale Moonrise. Your vista is the ocean and two mountaintops rising in the turquoise water. I could have spent the entire week watching the sea. Next, there was no problem with pests or rodents. I had been worried about that since older comments from guests had mentioned pests and rodents. That was not a problem and everything was clean. rnThe house is ideal for family gathering. We lived in the kitchen/den room surrounded by windows & ocean views on three sides. I don't think we ever sat in the living room which has a grand view too. The updated kitchen was easy to work in and well equipped.
