Very clean, quiet and peaceful. The couple upstairs do have a little one, but we did not find it a problem.
They were so sweet.
We enjoyed having a car, but did walk to Lanikai Beach daily for the excersie. The beach is beautiful and we love Lanikai, period.
The best part of the trip for me was snorkeling and taking under water pictures of all that lives in the ocean.
We ate at a Mexican restaurant next to the times suppermarket, and just loved it!!!
We stay in Lanikai, every vist, and just love the total relaxed feeling there, so who ever gets to stay there at Lanikai Sunrise, enjoy it!!!!
Great experience, easily arranged and wonderful location. The place was as described and pictured and just a true pleasure to stay at. Could not have asked for a better experience (short of someone clearing out the clouds). Will definitely look into it again on return trips to Oahu.
We felt the place was comfortable and clean, a beautifully remodeled studio.
The location in Lanikai was very nice. It was nice to get up in the morning and take a jog around the neighborhood and see all the other runners and walkers. The hill behind the house was a fun hike too. We really enjoyed the soft sands and swimming in the warm waters of the beaches at Lanikai and Kailua. Next time we would like to kayak to the "Moke's" and do some snorkeling there. Haunamau bay was packed on Monday (holiday) and closed on Tuesday, so we missed our chance. Maybe next time. We had a great time watching the playoff games at the "Shack". We also enjoyed driving up the North coast and watching the surfing competition. The Breakfast at the Big City Diner was pretty tasty too! The owners paid attention to the details,like plenty of towels and TP. The flowers on the bathroon sink were a nice touch too. We would rent here again...
We were 2 adults and a 2 year old. This was a good setup for us, but if there are additional people it would get tight. Nice neighborhood, friendly and safe. Lots of joggers out, great place to run. Kailua beach park is a short drive and is a perfect family beach. The slope is flatter than most and the sand is very soft. There are virtually no rocks, coral or other hazzards in the shallow water. The waves break much further out so it is almost like lake action at the beach which is ideal for small children or those who are not regular swimmers. Safeway is not far away and a good source for familiar foods at only slightly above familiar prices. Dukes steakhouse is close, across from Kailua Beach Park but in the $25-$40 per person range, cash only and a bit spendy for what you get. Try the Shack for burgers and local beer across from Safeway or Los Garcias Mexican food next to the Shell station. Beach towels and some toiletries were provided along with some sunscreen and lotions. There is a small television with a DVD/VCR combo machine attached. We brought movies and this was great for our daughter. The refrigerator is the mini size like you would have at a college dorm room. There is a microwave and a portable 2 burner electric unit that has less heating power than your normal range. Plates, pots, pans, dishes etc are all provided. Cooking in is a great way to stay on budget. The shower is of the ultra low flow variety, but the head unscrews easily and then you can have a reasonable stream of water. Wireless internet is available and I used it daily, however the unit is far enough away from the transmitter that the connection is weak and the speed pretty slow. Cell coverage with Sprint in the unit varied and sometimes we would get dropped calls, but it worked better outside on the lawn. There is a very pretty orchid tree in the front yard and lots of lizards running around. Our daughter enjoyed picking both up. Many tropical birds in the neighborhood provide the tropical soundtrack you cannot get in the Waikiki hotel area. We did not hear any crazy keg parties, gun fire, thumping bass music, or the associated police sirens and helicopter flyovers you may find in some areas. If you are going to Pearl, go early! Be there by 0700 unless you want to wait a long time. Try to take in the Missouri, Bowfin and Pacific Aviation Museum too. If you are doing the luau thing, skip the hotel and time share offerings and go to the Polynesian Cultural Center up at the North Shore in Laie. If you have the budget, the upgraded packages offering group or private tours are a nice touch. We did the Super Ambassador at $200/person but made up for it by cooking mac and cheese 3 nights. We rented a Mustang Convertible from Hertz. Hawaii is ideal for convertibles with its low speed driving. On some previous trips I have opted to save a few bucks and go with a Taurus/Camry/Grand Prix type car, but would see so many Mustang convertibles that I always felt reminded of how nice it would be. If not interested in a convertible, I would look at getting the smallest car possible that allows for your group's comfort. Trying to park a large car at this property and in most parking lots would be challenging. Gas was about 10 cents higher than it is in Denver, so not really an issue.
Unit was very pleasant. Appreciate adherence to details and all the little things added, like soaps, shampoos, napkins, paper plates, etc (all the things that you normally dont' bring with you). I don't know if the washer and dryer were available, we could have used it. Also I did not want to bather anyone, but the floor lump stopped working. So we could have used more light for reading. This was a wonderful place to stay. The hosts (who live on site) are friendly, the town of Kailua is just-big-enough, and Lanikai beach was serene and beautiful. The unit was clean, comfortable, and I loved the shower. I also loved floating on my back in the ocean with the Mokupu'u islands to one side, the Ko'olau mountains on the other with not a single hotel or high rise to obstruct the view in any direction. Eat at Pinky's PuPu Bar and Grill in Kailua! Pick up a copy of Oahu Revealed before you go (the writer lives in Kailua, so this was obviously the place to stay.)
This is a great place to stay! It was out of all the craziness of Waikiki & Honolulu and the area was absolutely beautiful! Waking up to the island birds every morning was a wonderful change from city life and the beaches (Lanikai & Kailua) weren't as chaotic as some of the bigger beaches. We hope to be back sooner than later!
The rental was great. Having access to everything you need and close to shops was wonderful as well as close to the beach. I would recommend this to friends and family.

The place was great. Room temperature was very good. Between the windows and fan you don't hardly need the a/c. One thought we had is that it would be great to have the little packages of butter, ketchup, mustard etc. In the future I would bring these with me. Nice people and nice place.
Had a wonderful time - the space was great to come home to each night...and the nearby Market made EXCELLENT sandwiches for picnics on Kailua/Lanikai beaches. We enjoyed morning coffees sitting with the geckos on the patio chairs, and waking up to the birds made you feel like you were truly in paradise. After spending only 5 minutes in Waikiki, we knew for certain that staying in Lanika/Kailua was the best choice for a truly relaxing and peaceful vacation on Oahu.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Lanikai is a wonderful, quiet alternative to the noise and traffic of Waikiki. The apartment was beautiful and very comfortable. We would definitely come again.

Apartment was nice overall. We liked the separate entry from the upstairs. I think that the shower could use some non-skid stickers, as my toddler had a very hard time not falling in there. I didn't really like that while we were downstairs, the upstairs was also rented out to another couple. Our upstairs neighbors were very noisy and rude, which was a disappointment.
We absolutely LOVED the Lanikai Sunrise Apartment. It was a great spot for us as honeymooners to kick back and unwind from the craziness of the wedding - We slept VERY well, it was so quiet! It had a real spa feeling to it and of course the stained glass was gorgeous!! We're trying to find the same sheet set and covers - to no avail! Needless to say, it suited us just perfectly! Thanks! 1. Apartment was nice and quiet.
The suite was very quaint. We really enjoyed staying in Lanikai. The restaurants are great in Kailua, especially Lucy's. We would definitely stay on this side of the island again.
Lanikai Sunrise grew on us quickly. It's very tastefully decorated, with nice features/fixtures, including a roomy and convenient shower (GREAT after a day on the beach), ceiling fans, stained glass windows, beach blankets/mats/flotation tubes/etc., and everything you need to make an in-home meal. You wake up to the sounds of birds and the ocean. Nice!
What a wonderful relaxing place to spend my first few days in Hawaii.

I definitely enjoyed the beach especially in the morning after getting up to look at the dazzeling white sands and the amazingly blue ocean. It was just simply put... paradise. Our apartment was cute and very tranquil. It was definitely a great vacation.
Suite Lanikai was beautiful and had MANY wonderful amenities. The only minor thing was the need for more lights. It was dark at night, too dark to read a book. Other than that it was FANTASTIC!

We had the best time of our lives at the Lanikai Sunrise Apartment! It was very romantic and more than cozy, we absolutly loved it and look foward to returning to the best spot on the island in Lanikai.

Only issue was that we could here things upstairs a little too much. People walking and talking upstairs were quite loud when trying to sleep. Thus we were waked up earlier than we wanted.
