"Blue Hawaii"

We arrived without incident or hassle to the overwhelming scent of sewer gas venting from the pipeline in front of the condo building. Fortunately the wind direction changed overnight and didn't interfere with the remainder of the stay. The bedroom is in the front of the building. The deck in the rear of the unit off the living room had a beautiful view of the ocean and grounds. There was the occasional foul scent of second hand cigarette smoke from a nearby unit and evidence of discarded butts on the back deck, but what can one do about that? Maybe my nose was just expecting a continual flow of fresh sea breeze. The bed was comfy and the bathroom facility very nice! The kitchen had a very nice electric stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and blenders. Interestingly, we discovered that none of the china was microwave safe...zap, zap. One of the kitchen wall sockets (GFCI) was inop, but we managed to find another for the toaster. The unit does have a great wide screen TV and internet service for cloudy day activities. There is some free snorkel gear available. The outside area of the building has a very nice pool and grassy area. The workout room is a joke with rusting/inoperative equipment, but who needs it anyway. Overall, it fit the bill for us nicely for a short stay.

The hide away bed looked like it was fixed on one side but not on the other.
The patio doors didn't slide good at all they need to be replaced and the front screen door needs a new spring, it would just slam.
There was no instructions regarding an emgerency phone number to call. It would be nice the have the lock up box code posted there... We couldn't remember the number and therefore cause a bit of a problem.
I really liked all of the beach stuff it was awsome for the kids....The big screen tv was nice for our movie nights.

This condo is on the North Shore quite away from any action. It will be nice once they get the restaurant open.. They really need something, as there was nothing open at 7:30 p.m Made the nights long.

My husband and I had a great time at the Blue Hawaii, I lived in HI 23 years ago and didn't care to return to Waikiki so we decided on staying at Pat's at Punalu'u, it was a great decision as the Blue Hawaii was so clean and well equipped, it even came with snorkel equipment and a surfboard..surfing it's much harder than those guys make it look. The sunrises were amazing and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves every afternoon. I would suggest to anyone staying on this side of the island to rent a car, we drove all over the island from Halaiwa to Kailua and everywhere in between. Dining out options on this side of the island are limited so we shopped in Laie at Foodland and cooked in breakfast and dinner and usually ate out for lunch when we were on one of our many road trips. Our condo had all the necessary items to cook a meal, which saved a lot of money and who wants to eat out every meal. My husband and I loved kayaking in Kaliua, swimming with the turtles at Hanauma Bay, doing the hike up Diamond Head and visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center. Always travel with a back up camera or at least replacement batteries, you don't want to miss a thing. I would like to comment on the customer service but we never had any issues so we didn't need to call Mark..I guess that means the service was great.
