Reviews of the Lani Loa
Back to the Lani Loa, a North Shore vacation rental

This house was great for our group of 16. It was so fun to be all together instead of split up into five different hotel rooms. The location is extremely close to the Polynesian Cultural Center, 20 minutes from the North Shore, and best of all, away from the crowds and traffic of Honolulu. We loaded up on groceries at Costco in Honolulu before making the drive to Laie and saved a fortune on food for the week. The fridge, dishwasher, range, and outdoor grill are all fairly modern. There is a crib in the upstairs bedroom. Not all of the master suites had A/C, but we were still fairly comfortable in the lovely Hawaiian weather. The view from the deck is amazing, and every night we went to sleep listening to the waves crash against the rocks outside our windows. The beach that is "five houses away" is nothing to write home about. There are plenty of great beaches nearby, but you will be driving to them, not walking. Turtle Bay Resort is about 10 minutes north of the house, and you can park there for free if you tell them you're going to the beach. We snorkeled there three days and saw several sea turtles. The water heater couldn't handle all our morning showers, so get up early if you want a hot shower. You'll be doing a lot of laundry if you go to the beach, and the washer and dryer were very convenient. There are plenty of towels and washrags available in the house. The driveway is very long and narrow. If you plan on having more than one or two cars there, be prepared to either back in or back out a long way.

Conclusion: We would love to stay at the Lani Loa again! If you are having a large family vacation and want lots of "togetherness", this is the place for you.

Technology sidenote:
The TV in the main living room is in desperate need of an upgrade to a larger LCD or plasma. It was like a 30" CRT and not big enough for your group to watch a sporting event or TV show together. There is wi-fi inside the house, but the router is quite old and couldn't handle all our group's laptops and smart phones connecting to it at the same time, and we had to frequently reboot it. The wi-fi signal is very week in the basement or upstairs, and drops frequently.

The house was perfect for our wedding weekend! We got married out on Laie peninsula. It's a short walk from the house and the mountains, ocean and gorgeous rock formation made an amazing backdrop for our special day. The house was perfect for our guests. We especially enjoyed the big kitchen and sunken living room. The views from the house were incredible- we even saw a big turtle. Thank you for making our wedding weekend so magical!

Our family had a wonderful time in your beautiful Lani Loa. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that we needed. everything was in great condition. The view of the ocean was unbelievable and having the beach just a half block away was so convenient for the children. The hot tub, the pool table were hot items and the barbeque grill was great.

This rental is wonderful if you plan to spend a lot of time on the north shore. The only thing i would change is that the master bedroom is wonderful but it would be nice if it was air conditioned.

Beautiful house, beautiful location! Worked out well for our group of 14. We had some electrical problems, but the owner was quick to respond and help take care of the problems. we had a great time and great experience, and would certainly rent this house again. Thanks!

This house has a very nice set up and large open kitchen/dining/living room area. The upstairs master bedroom does not have screen doors at all. Our two families had a great time and the beach to the North is very clean. Snorkel or wade over to goat island you can see from the house! Keep an eye out for sea turtles at the base of the home. We enjoyed the coconuts from the tree. This really is a great house and great location for North shore exploring. The best grocery store on the island is just down the bend. At the end of the street is a lookout point. There are a few boogie boards on site, we left two. You can also purchase more at the grocery store. Haleiwa Joes has great food!

The beach house was great, better than we had expected. We were in Hawaii for our daughters wedding, and having a House to come home to every night after wedding activites made the trip even more special.

The house was very lovely. Perfect amount of room for our large family. However, we had to drive about an hour each day to do any activities. So I might like to stay closer to the activities. Overall, a good experience and we look forward to talking with you for our future vacations. Sincerely, Belinda
