  • The cottage was good and we enjoyed our stay. The position of the cottage between WAimea Bay and shark cove is great. With just a few extra my "good " Rating would have been "great". We were there with our grandkids and daughter. Having no table and chairs inside was a negative for us. We love meals outside but sometimes need inside. By reacing the big old lounge with a small cleaner one a table and chairs would fit nicely. Please also provide a baking dish for the oven and a salad bowl. Little things that make a difference. This is our third rental with vacation rentals and we have enjoyed them all. Mahalo.

  • Excellent house. It was clean. Very nice kitchen. If you dont like noise, we do, you may be annoyed with the crashing of the waves that are not stop. Nice ocean view deck. This house was a gem with a reasonable price. Washer and dryer on side of house outside could have used a sensor light and area rug in living room was rolling up which created a tripping hazard, and bed in back side room was uncomfortable. Minor issues in our mind. We loved this house overall and we would definitely rent again without question.

  • the house was nice and very convenient! i agree with the other reviewers that it was a bit difficult to eat as a group. also, we never found the fire pit (which had been a big selling point even though we looked everywhere and had even bought stuff to make s,mores!). all in all, i definitely recommend this place - walking distance to the beach, supermarket, great snorkel sites, and waimea state park. i wouldn't have traded our spot on the north shore for anything! thank you!

  • Loved the main house and the cottage was good as a bunkhouse for the kids (and one dad). The houses were clean and were as advertised. The view from the main house is awesome. The only negative is the constant traffic noise as the house is close to the Kam highway. Would definitely book again with the rental agent, but not sure if we would go back to this property due to the high noise level, particularly at the cottage.

  • The unit was well equipped for myself and my three young children, just like a home away from home.Chris ,the property manager , was very informative and helpful. We enjoyed the proximity to Sharks Cove , Waimea Bay ,and surrounding north shore .The grocery store had everthing we needed and was within walking distance, which was conveinent.Small town atmosphere was a world away from honolulu's hustle bustle and bright lights.Explored the whole north shore and this is definitly the spot to be at to enjoy the surf and snorkle. We really enjoyed the waimea falls park! So much beauty and diversity of plants . Do not forget your camera .I was on a budget and found this property not knowing what to expect.Trump coined the phrase "location, etc." and this one has it.The whole process of securing this property was done online and via my iphone so i always had the information , reservations , and contract, right at my finger tips. Thanks guys,I may upgrade to the beach front next time around

  • Amazing proximity to everything. Customer service was really good. Best part was surfing with Sunset Suzie :) Best restaurant was probably the hot dog joint just opposite the supermarket. Chilled out! Definitely stay at Waimea cottage, it's got everything u need and the outdoor shower was tres romantique. Don't forget to check out at 10am otherwise you'll be watching 90210 with a hangover when the maid arrives. Next time we will go horse riding at Happy Trails :) Aloha!

  • I loved the sound of the ocean at night and the cool breezes, as well as the beautiful, fragrant flowers in the garden and yard. The best treat was the acai bowl at the Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa--local honey, homemade granola, acai frozen yogurt and fresh mango and papaya--worth getting up early for! We had a great trip.

  • What we liked best was the view and proximity to the two beaches on either side. The master bathroom and tub were fabulous and the outdoor shower very helpful. The deck and bbq were great. The problems were: 1-horrible, uncomfortable seats (we had to purchase beach chairs at the market to bring in to the house so we could sit more than 2 people to watch tv) and not enough seating in the den area to accommodate 6 adults at one time AND the deck chairs were also incredibly uncomfortable 2-it really does not sleep 6 people, as the couch/futon in the third room is small and uncomfortable (and we were traveling with 4 college kids and 2 parents, not with 3 couples) 3-nobody responded to our calls when we needed help (with making the dvd player work and a need for more toilet paper and garbage bags)....on the plus side, they DID respond when the toilet was broken and they sent repair people over quickly (i.e., unimpressive customer service while we were there, which was in contrast to the efficient customer service i received on line prior to arriving) 4-we prefer to recylce things so tried to drive the recycling in to Haleiwa each day, but it was challenging....mb a recylce bin and a regular bin??

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very nice and comfortable. Somehow we didn't understand that "complete kitchen" does not include a dishwasher. There were also a few necessities that we wish we would have had for cooking - a spatula, other utensils and a dish towel. We also didn't have a broom until we asked for one. We were disappointed that there wasn't a BBQ. We had already bought our steaks before we came and so had to cook them on the stove. It would be good if others knew before they arrived that there wasn't a BBQ there. The spinkler system comes on a lot and makes a lot of mud in the parking area. All in all it was an awesome stay. We enjyed the sunsets and walks on the beach. We enjoyed the quietness of the town and the Foodland store. We would recomend it to our friends and may even come back ourselves someday!

  • This house was absolutely beautiful. The location exceeded our expectations...right on the ocean, house very clean, and within walking distance to two beautiful beaches. We rarely had to drive anywhere. Great snorkeling at both beaches. We appreciated all the beach towels, chairs, and umbrella that were provided. There is a grocery store within walking distance which was convenient for extra needed items, but I would suggest doing most of your shopping at the Costco right off the freeway as you head to Northshore (I would highly advise to save money). I would also advise Ted's Bakery just up the highway a bit by Sunset Beach...yummy homebaked goods. The only suggestion I would make as far as the rental unit goes, is to fix the electric gate by the street - we would have liked to close it every night for safety/privacy reasons. We noticed most homes along the coast in this area had their gates closed. If you want a quiet, laid-back, spend quality time with family, read-a-book vacation...then this is the place for you! It truly holds the essence of Hawaiian culture and relaxed lifestyle, definitely worlds away from the busy city of Honolulu.

  • 1. The front sliding security gate was inoperable and remained in the open position for our entire stay, thus the cottage and adjoining beach house were open to the street and could be accessed from the street by the general public. 2. The parking area which is shared by the cottage and the beach house was unlighted and very dark at night. There was an exterior light fixture positioned on the cottage to light the parking area, but the bulb had been removed and never replaced. 3. Smoke detectors throughout the house were disconnected. Some had the batteries removed, others had the batteries disconnected. 4. Electrical power outlets in the kitchen did not work, therefore we could not use the coffee pot or microwave oven for our entire stay. 5. The shower in the bathroom immediately off the living room did not work. Water flowed from the spigot into the tub, but the diverter valve that shifts water from the tub to the shower head did not work. Everyone had to shower in the other bathroom for our entire stay. 6. One of the bedroom's closet door (louvered/accordian type) was completely falling apart. We could not use the closet for fear that moving the door would cause it to fall apart into pieces. 6. The cottage was very clean.
