PROS: We had a wonderful time. Palm Paradise is clean, very comfortable with all the amenities. The location on the North Shore is perfect -- close to everything. There is a great paved bike/walking trail that meanders through the community and takes you passed the beaches. Sunset and Velzyland Beach are both within walking distance. There are many great places to eat within a short drive. We didn't have a favorite but enjoyed trying a new place each day. We took our kids to the Dole Pineapple Plantation -- highly recommned for families and also rented paddleboards in Haleiwa -- also highly recommend for families with older children. CONS: Ants in the kitchen -- relentless little ants that would reappear no matter how well we cleaned up after each meal. As a result we had to store most of our non-perishable food in the refridgerator or on top the dining table. We found the neighbors to be quite hostile toward tourists (us). We got a lot of attitude and two neighbors approached my husband to complain. One neighbor complained because we left the porch light on at night. We are a quiet family and didn't spend much time at the house except at night, so we were quite taken back with that part of our stay. I did not give the property 5 stars because this is not a prime rental. Although the house is very nice, it is not new and does look "lived in". It could use a new coat of paint and a deep scrub. The patio area was dingy so we didn't use it. Also the blinds were falling apart downstairs and given the amount of money we paid to stay over the holiday I found it odd that the owners wouldn't replace such an inexpensive item in the home. **With all that said I'd like to make an extra mention about the property management. The management was greaT! Mark was both professional and personable. He gave us a lot great information on the area and things to see and do. He was right on with all of his local recommendations. He was very prompt in responding to correspondence during the planning process. Great service and much appreciated!
Sonya S., Pismo Beach, CA, 1.1.12
Excellent help from property manager she tried everything to get our local phone service and internet working---and it did for one day, she also dealt with the alarm problem secondary to the phone line being out--Thanks!
Ron P., Selah, WA, 10.5.11
What I liked best was the house had everything we needed for a family visit, the bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen was well stock with dishes, the access to several beaches was easy and beautiful; just right for the kids as well as our underwater explorers. Customer service was Great! Renee Guerrero and Ohi were both sweet, knowledgable and helpful. The property manager Mark was Great and he shared a lot of local information that helped the stay as well. The best part of the trip was mixing with the locals as a family. We met the neighbors, caught the bus...it was Great! It was a perfect location for a family vacation; we made some Great memories and we will do this again. I saw an ad on your site for twin houses, next door to each other which may work for our next trip as the number of family members may increase. We left a couple of items behind, but Mark is looking into it for us and we're hopeful they will be returned. Thank you for the Memories; see ya soon!
Myla W., Los Angeles, CA, 8.13.11
The best thing about Palm Paradise was the roominesss of the house and the many bedrooms. The customer service was great! The best parts of the trip were Waimea Valley, the beaches. Ted's Bakery, Pearl Harbor and Haleiwa Village. The only complaint was that the house had a faint musty smell, not enough to disturb us.
Jerry K., Keller, TX, 8.1.11
The stay was just awesome. Just a Short Walk to the Beach - nice neighbourhood - this is the real Hawaii! We will definetily come back Next Year!! Also the Property owners Gary and Bev were very nice. Their kindness was just amazing! Once again Mahalo for everything !!! Sven and his four friends .... from Germany! m/
Sven L., Essen, Nordrhein Westfalen, 7.17.11
We loved the location being so close to Sunset Beach. The listing said about a 10 minute walk, but it was actually only about five minutes. Even on the weekend, the beach was not crowed and on some days we almost had it to ourselves. If you're looking for lots of nice restaurants, sightseeing, etc., this is not the place to rent. It's a great "get away" spot which is what we wanted. The neighbors were welcoming and we got to know the local dogs pretty well. The only draw back the was the house itself. I was not very clean and in need of some repairs. eg a couple of windows didn't work, dead flies on the window sills, dust balls on the floor and some very old food in the refrigerator. It also needs some more lights inside. It was almost impossible to read at night.
Dennis P., Atascadero, CA, 4.25.11
This property of Palm Paradise is very nice. The home is nicely laid out, all the amenities you would want. We walked to the beach everyday. Ted's Bakery is very close so we made our pie run a couple of times. There is a grocery store, Foodland, about 10 minutes away, so we never had to leave the north shore for anything. We don't like crowds, so this location was perfect. We hope to do this again.
Dulcie S., Culver City, California, 1.1.11
Our experience was great all the way around. The unit was all it was advertised to be. Although we spent most of our day "out and about" it was nice to have a place to come "home to". The customer service was fantastic. The unit was ready when we arrived and there were no issues. This was our 4th trip to Hawaii, and it was to attend our sons wedding on North Shore. Of all our trips this was the most special, for obvious reasons, but the accomadations were the best we have ever had. Thanks again for the wonderful experience.
Scott T., Center Point, Tx, 10.15.10
The house was comfortable and airy! The view was good; the people were very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying at the North Shore over the South Shore and resort areas. We had the beaches all to ourselves and the food at "Ted's Bakery" was incredible! We are renting this home again!
Thomas G P., Mesa, AZ, 8.31.10
The house was in a quiet neighborhood, but within a few blocks of a great beach! Plenty of room for 10 adults. Perfect location. Short walk to Ted's Bakery and short drive to several beaches, golf courses and shopping!
Lisa V., Martinez, Ga, 8.9.10
Where do I start? Everything from the house to Raynel our island contact was excellent. I am recommending this site to all my friends as an alternative to hotels. We did not want to leave. And yes for our next visit we are definately using you guys. Thanks for making our vacation truly memorable. Mahalo

Great location
Robert and Katy N., Torrance, CA, 5.12.10
When we arrived at the property there was no parking. We were told we could park on the right side of the driveway but it was occupied as was the entrance to the driveway with a van parked there. The "shared" patio table was in the garage with about a dozen people around it. The house was open and no key was there as it was supposed to be in the lock box. The occupants downstairs brought the key up to us later. Our phone message to you was never returned to us. I would have appreciated "toilet paper" since we were driving from the airport and wanted to check out the place before going shopping! Anyplace we have ever rented has that! We like the area and would consider renting again but through the owners next time. Tammi Hedtke, San Diego
Paul H., San Diego, CA, 1.5.10
What I liked best about Hale Kai Nani III was the easy access to all of the attractions our family enjoys. The customer service was great. The best part of my trip was the comfortable atmosphere and easy access to the beach. We shopped for food at Costco and did 99% of our own cooking. Since there were twelve of us, it was easier and more cost effective. The best picture I took was of the whole family standing under the tree in the back yard of one of the houses and the ocean scene behind. What I would tell my friends is that the houses are wonderful, the beach is good there, but not great. The waves and rocks made "playing and swimming" a bit of a challenge. But just a short walk in either direction and you had calmer water. So it was not that big of a deal. My advice to someone else staying in this unit would be be ready to share bathrooms as there are none that are private in the bedrooms, be ready to walk a short distance for calmer entrance to the ocean. The weather is awesome, the houses are decorated very nice and are fun to hang out at with a group. The best part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is go to all of the attractions. But do it every other day, allowing for rest and sun & fun at the houses. We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, The Dole Plantation, Chartered Scuba Diving and a private dive, The botanical Gardens, and rock diving at Waimea Bay. The best insider tip we received was buying fresh fish from the fisherman at the dock. Fresh Ahi Tuna at BARGAIN prices!! We stayed from Monday to the following Tuesday. We had seven full days of paying with a day to travel at the beginning and one at the end. We have been to almost all of the islands over the last 25 years and this was one of the best trips ever.
Annie F., Yuma, Az, 7.1.09
We just finished a wonderful stay at the Hale Plumeria. We practically had the beach all to ourselves during the week. We'd head down in the morning and be the only ones there. The weekends were definitely more crowded. We felt very welcomed by Raynel and right at home. There were neighbor dogs that came by to visit that helped us get through missing our own canine crew at home. They were very friendly and one of them seemed to smell each of our meals and timed her visits perfectly every time in order to get a tidbit! We ate most of our meals at the house. We headed to Costco as soon a we left the airport and that proved to be our best move of the trip. Saved us tons of money on eating out. We did head down the coast to Giovanni's Shrimp truck and it was the best meal of the trip, that and The Big City Grill in Honolulu....YUM!! The kids loved snorkeling all week. We rented from a shop right next door to the market across from the fire station. We had some equipment issues, but they were close and it was easy to get it fixed. The best part of our trip was to be able to relax. We didn't overplan our days, were often didn't have a plan. : ) When you stay here be prepared for long days on Sunset Beach and relaxing evenings on the lanai listening to the birds. It truly was paradise... I'm already looking forward to a return trip.
Margaret A., Estacada, OR, 6.29.09
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely beach house. It was ideal for the eight of us with my husband and I in the downstairs' studio separate from the rest of the family who were in three bedrooms upstairs that had a huge kitchen and living room area that led to a huge lanai (balcony in Hawaiian) where we all barbequed frequently. Under the house next to the stairs, it was nice having warm water also (some places only have cold water) where you can rinse off the salt and sand after being on the beach. We had a picnic table and lounge chairs to use at our convenience. I especially liked the location as it was next to Shark's Cove - a scuba diving, snorkling, tide-pooling, and swimming mecca. The sunsets (of which we took many pictures) were magnificent (hence called - Sunset Beach). The children liked watching the sea turtles swim by. At night from the balcony, it was exciting to see the scuba divers with their blue flashlights in the water either exploring or fishing. Foodland Supermarket is right up the street with the famous Ted's Bakery about a mile the other way. My daughters jogged to Waimea Bay (about 1 mile away) and jumped off the famous rock. Haleiwa is about three miles away with many local shops and restaurants. Customer Service was very warm and accommodating -excellent Aloha spirit. When we arrived late (9:00 PM), we called Peg who helped us promptly with the mishap. Kudos to her! Thank you Greg and Chris for all your help also. It was the ultimate living-on-the-beach dream with the surfers even if it was just for ten days. It was very relaxing and stress-free. Standing from the beach, this house "stands up" to the rest of the homes beside it. You've got to see and vacation in it for yourselves! Yes, I would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Oahu.
Joyce B., Bakersfield, CA, 7.2.08
We really enjoyed the house. The area is perfect. The only thing that would have been better is if there were real cleaning supplies available. I bought some clorox cleaner to clean the bathroom and kitchen. The neighbors were all very friendly and having a view of the ocean from the balcony was great. We would definitely consider renting this space again.
Eve M., Glendale, CA, 5.29.08
Being close to the beach was just great. The house was nicely furnished and decorated - lots of surfing pictures! Plenty to see and do on the North Shore - we loved it. Sunset Beach was just beautiful and quiet.
Dennis B., Auckland 0630, New Zealand, 5.1.08
We really enjoyed our stay in your rental it was convenient and comfortable.
Jeanine L., Mapleton, Utah, 4.20.08
The house was under renovation when we arrived and uninhabitable. We stayed elswhere. Unfortunatley we were not warned in advance and had to spent the first day of our holiday searching for alternative accomodation.
Paul H., Sydney, Australia, 3.27.08
If your visiting Oahu and dont want the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you. The beach is across the street and the off street parking is a bonus. We are so lucky to have found this beach house. It's much better than staying in a hotel. It's clean and beautiful and has all the amenities you could ask for. We are especially grateful to the owners who were friendly and hospitible. It's close to Schofield Barracks and perfect for military families who are visiting loved ones. My son and his wife are returning in a couple of weeks and would have rented this unit if it were available. It's so nice, I recommend reserving it months in advance. Anyone who has stayed here wont want to go anywhere else. Last but not least, I highly recommend going through Hawaiian Beach Rentals. Jody is awesome to work with. She took excellent care of us by listening to our needs and finding the perfect beach house close to our sons' military base. We will definitely use the service again before returning to Hawaii.
Deborah B., Riverton, Ut, 3.7.08
We truly enjoyed our stay. The rental was clean, close to the beach, had everything we needed and is on the beautiful North Shore. The owners of the unit are absolutely wonderful and we will certainly stay there again the next time we visit. Highly recommended!
Diane L., McKinney, TX, 2.2.08
We enjoyed our stay very much. I would recommend this place to any family. Internet, laundry, kitchen all a plus. Very close to the beach, great to also have a car.
Dana S., New York, NY, 1.6.08
The house was wonderful, decorated beautifully with quality furnishings and art. It was impeccably clean. We would like to return and plan to do so.
Marilee S., Atherton, CA, 10.10.07
Super nice familiar home!!! The owner was very helpful and had some good plans for things to do, THANKS Kelly!!!! We'll come back!!! Greets & Mahalo from SWITZERLAND
Dominic F., Aeugst am Albis, Zurich, 10.6.07
The host was really generous with his stuff - lent us a surf board, beach stuff etc. The place was in a great location - just by the beach. I think the unit needed a dishwasher and more cutlery. I didn't like being told we could only use the washing machine on cold - we had paid for the service after all.
HELEN H., Birmingham, West Mids, 8.10.07
This house was so very clean, The customer service is top notch, We were here on vacation and to see family, The best restaurant on the North shore was Joe's at the marina in Haleiwa. My advice to any one staying in this rental would be that if your looking for the touristy side of Oahu you will have to drive a bit. This property is so secluded and quiet that you feel so relaxed that you almost can't function! I can't say enough about Raynel, If you need anything she is #1 Also don't miss out on an early morning stroll down the road to Ted's Bakery! The best pastries on the island !!!! and if you are a snorkeler like we are Sharks cove is just a little bit down the road and fantastic, my daughter loved Waimeia Bay also.
Betty L., Mount Morris, MI, 8.2.07
The best restaurant we found was actually at the Turtle Bay Hotel - it is RIGHT on the beach, and at sunset it is a beautiful spot. Food was yummy, great service and a great kids menu!
Randal S., Auburn, WA, 7.26.07
We really liked the unit, its location and privacy as well as the beach.
Tom V., NETHERLANDS, , 7.23.07
Loved the place, even though its on top of a house, it still feels very much like your own private residence. Beautiful beaches very close to the location and just a small walk down to the "personal" beach. Enjoyed the experience greatly.
Ben G., San Jose, CA, 7.18.07
wow. it just does not get any better, from when i went online to the immediate response from the staff, to having our our own concierge next door to help with anything, the property itself is breathtaking, the decor was designed with great Hawaiian culture and again everything was above and beyond what we expected, thanks so much!
Robert D., Phoenix, ARIZONA, 7.10.07
The property was great. A simple beach shack that has been renovated to a comfortable standard. rnThe property was clean and Bonnie was very helpful. I hope her mother is doing well. rnWe tended to eat in and only ate out once at a Mexican Cholos for dinner (reminds me why I don't like mexican food however great margaritas)and lunch at Haliewa Joes (average but nice outlook). Shaved ice was a hit with kids. A burger from Ted's bakery was good for lunch - burger seemed healthy (not too greasy). rnThe best part of our trip was surfing at Chuns Reef with Sunset Suzy, Suzy, Dave, Ash and Tay were all fantastic and it was great to meet local surfing legend Uncle Buttons. rnWe went to the ranch and did the jungle tour - this was fun, a bit like a long roller coast ride! The movie tour wasn't that flash. rnMy advice to other people staying would be stay 2 weeks, we stayed the one and could have stayed more. rnWe pretty much did everything we wanted to and had a chance to relax a little. rn
Nerida H., Qld, Australia, 7.7.07
It was so much fun going to Sunset Beach and doing nothing! The best part of our trip was the morning excursions to Ted's for the newspaper and Foodland. Although I was sick the entire time we were there what a better place to be sick in the room with the air conditioner and feeling like I was on a raft floating through the ocean and looking at the coconut tree. The photos I took were all of my family to compose books on Shutterfly. And Bonnie was so wonderful! We wanted to send her some flowers but we didn't look at her address nor do we remember her last name. Can you give me any help?
Bill or Joyce H., Honolulu, HI, 6.18.07
The house is very basic on the inside -- definitely not about the luxuries -- but sitting on the deck watching the sun set night after night makes up for it's lack of fancy details. We'd rent it again in a heartbeat!
Wendy L., Phoenix, AZ, 6.6.07
This is a very comfortable place for a family to stay.
Kathy B., St. Louis, MO, 5.28.07
We thought the house was great. I was impressed with the quality of the furnishings and appliances. Everything was very nice. It was a little hard to find the first night when we got in after dark but then we appreciated the privacy of the quiet street. The neighbors treated us like, well, neighbors not tourists. We had a wonderful visit.
Ned S., Richmond, VA, 5.24.07
The rental is very well set up, clean, and peaceful. The owners were nice and helpful. Beach access is easy and quick once you figure it out. We enjoyed our stay very much, and plan to come back.
Andy P., Bozeman, Montana, 3.28.07
Everything went great!! Loved the house and location was excellent. Breaching whales right off the coast were amazing and a real treat. Loved the view and sunsets were incredible!

Rick L., Phoenix, AZ, 9.25.06
A Lovely house for a relaxed holiday. Management is extremely friendly. Accept for a lot of chickens in the neighborhood it is very quit and peaceful place. Lovely beach very close by. Inventory is more then complete although a dishwasher would be nice! We and the kids had a wonderful holiday.
Aad V., Pernis, Rotterdam, 8.30.06
Really enjoyed the private beach. You can enjoy you're morning coffee with the friendly cat. Nice comfortable breezy rental.
Terry F., Colorado Springs, CO, 8.17.06
Hale Kai Nani I was everything we hoped it would be and more. It is a beautiful house with an absolutely georgeous view of Sunset Beach. The back porch is wonderful we practically lived out there the whole time. We really didn't want to come home and hope to return as soon as we possibly can!!
Kenla R., Dallas, TX, 8.11.06
DA KINE PLACE TO STAY AND VERY WELCOMING! THE HOUSE WAS CLEAN THE FURNITURE AND BEDS WERE COMFY AND THE ISLAND BREEZE THAT FLOWS THROUGH THE HOUSE IS SOOTHING AND REFRESHING. GREAT FAMILY HOUSE. WE WILL RETURN.
Joseph T., RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, 8.10.06
Great stay - loved the house and location. Only suggestions - a few more pieces of information could be made available, such as trash pickup and parking rules. Otherwise, wonderful vacation!!
Carol H., Topeka, KS, 8.5.06
An unpretentious home, but beautifully appointed and in a lovely private setting. Kitchen and enclosed lanai were quite large, which is not apparent in the photos. Manager was friendly and extremely helpful. Only minus was no dishwasher, but the view from the kitchen sink more than compensated. Would love to stay there again.
Meg L., Albuquerque, New Mexico, 7.22.06
Hi, we had a wonderful time at the rnSunset Beach House, the renters were very nice and helpful. The house was very comfortable, very breezy and clean.
Mary R., New Boston, NH, 7.14.06
Beautiful Hawaiian style home. Everything was clean and nice. Well furnished. Great location for people who want a quiet vacation in a beautiful location with great beaches. Sunset pizza is currently closed, so there is very little restaurant food nearby. Plan to cook or drive. We loved Hale Plumeria and will probably stay there again if we are able.
Max W., Gainesville, FL, 7.9.06
Our stay in Hawaii was great and staying at the Hale Plumeria Sunset Beach made it even more special. Our first impression was one of reservation but after we got in and traveled around the island we loved staying there. There was plenty of room for all, quiet and the view great. The house has a unique charm that was totally inviting. We would definitely stay there again.
Darlene H., Midland, TX, 6.30.06
Everything we expected and more! Looked at other places while on the north shore. We never saw anything that we would have like better.
Kim C., Eagle, ID, 6.16.06
Our family had such a wonderful time at Hale Kai Nani! The weather was beautiful as well as the view. It definitly is a rare house - we felt at home rather than just on a vacation. We were even more content at times to just stay there! Thank you for helping our family create such a wonderful memory! Until our return...
Diamond P., Highland Village, TX, 5.17.06
The family had a delightful stay and was very pleased with the accomodations, the owners and the neighborhood. We'd love to stay again, only longer!

Sierra H., Wahiawa, HI, 3.23.06
The owner had obviously paid great attention to detail when remodeling this home. The guests' comforts were defintely considered when they created this tranquil retreat right on Sunset Beach. Many hours were spent watching whales in the distance and surfers catching some of the waves that the North Shore is so famous for. We loved it.
Joanne H., Wayzata, Minnesota, 3.20.06
Stunning, spacious and very clean. All the ammenities one would ever want. The six of us (3 couples) has a outstanding time.
