Pali Ke Kua 230

The unit had a beautiful cliff-top view of the surf in a tiny inlet, and many sightings of whales in the ocean. The setting and the grounds in the facility and the golf course were all very nice and well maintained. I wish that the window outside the eating space had been cleaned, but they didn't get to it until after we had left - but I didn't ask, either. We enjoyed all of our time around the island, and had several good meals in Hanalei. Actually, I can't think of any reason why I couldn't give this unit 5 stars, the unit and the facility were all very nice.

Kauhale Makai 309

The overall facility was clean and had well meintained outside facilities, a good ocean view (whales & all). The customer service and concierge services were very helpful. The unit we stayed in has never been updated and was pretty tired, but not uncomfortable. The carpet needed to be cleaned, and their was barely enough silverware & dishes to get four adults through 2 meals, so we used the dishwasher a lot. We appreciated the iPod dock & DVD player, and the tv's were small but adequate. The bedroom by the lanai was fairty small, especially the bathroom, but OK, but the mattress was getting saggy.

The best part of our trip was visiting so many pretty spots on the island, and visiting with many local people. A departing guest gave us more than enough food to last through our stay, which was very nice. Consequently, the only restaurant we visited in Maui was the Casanova Italian Restaurant & Deli in Makawao, which was very good. We passed the remainder of the food on to a recently arrived next door neighbor.

The best picture of ourselves was probably with the background of a botanical garden and the ocean surf beyond. I will probably tell people about getting up close to several whales, and being able to see them from our room.

If you like to drive on windy mountain roads with no shoulder or guard rail, this is the place to do it. Remember a couple of thing;, most locals know those roads, so pull over if someone is behind you, and let them pass, and locals, especially pokey ones in loaded pickups, will pull out of side streets or driveways if there is no car right in front of them, regardless of a car coming four car lengths away, so either leave no space between you and the car in front of you or be prepared.

Kahana Outrigger 1B1

This is the second time we have stayed at these condos. We have been very happy with both stays. The only thing we needed was some chairs or chaises to take to the beach. There also seemed to be an ant problem on the kitchen counter. That would be the only negatives. Well satisfied. Hope to be back.

Dianne G., Bismarck, ND, 2.5.12

Ka Liki O K Lani

Ka Liki O K Lani is definitely a "beach" house, not all shiny new, but we enjoyed every minute here. It is located close enough to anything else you might want to see in the area, but at the end of the day you come back to a quiet area suggestive of what the islands might have been before they had been so developed. My advice is to wear flipflops or beach shoes into the water at the beach...the coral is quite sharp!

Liz C., Oakville, ON, 2.5.12

Wailea Ekahi 48C

The unit was nice, but the owners should step it up a bit. It felt like the place was outfitted at a garage sale. Nothing matched, and everything was purchased as cheaply as possible. The new kitchen is fine but the all the utensils are dated, and not even non-stick. Spend a few hundred dollars to bring the pot, pans, flatware, dishes, etc into the 2010's.

The 2 baths were fine, but the towels were clearly hand-me-downs from their primary residence and none of them matched. $100 at spent Macy's Home sale this weekend would help. Same thing with the bedding, When were those pillow cases made? 1970?

We've stayed at Ekahi and Ekolu many times, and this unit showed the least pride of ownership we've seen. 48C is not on our list of places to return to.

Daniel O., San francisco, CA, 2.5.12

Kauai Beach Villa

I liked the proximity to the Beach, What I would tell a friend was that the unit needed maintenance and cleaning, such as ceiling fans not working, smoke alarm wires but no alarm, door handle missing etc We left the windows open to vent the smell in the front master bedroom,. The entire house inside needed a deep cleaning or painting. The matress in the master lacked a mattress pad and was stained and spotted. as were the dining chairs. I could continue but ...! No I would not rent this house again.

Nancy H., Eagle, ID, 2.3.12

Hale Kimo

good location,nice layout,good amenities,great beds

Robert S., THE DALLES, OR, 2.2.12

Puunoa Beach Estates 203

We were absolutely surprised of what the unit looked like.
The pictures don't come even close to the real thing.
The best part of this rent was the view.
The estates are close to the town center with all the nice shops and restaurants.
The bet parts were the whales and the helicopter flight over the island.
We do have to come back and do it all again and more ....

Christian K., Volketswil, , 2.2.12

Waipouli Beach Resort A-205

This property is first class. Everything is top shelf in the units and the location is wonderful. The beach is not really swimmable but that is the case with most properties on Kauai.

William W., Palatine, IL, 2.2.12

Makana's Place

Thank you for letting us staying at your place - it is spacious, comfortable, and close to the beach. Mahalo!

Yevhen Y., Walnut Creek, CA, 2.1.12

Kona Lava Beach House

The Kona Lava Beach House was everything it looked like it would be. Absolutely perfect location, Beautiful setting, The home was warm and very inviting, My wife and I stayed there for 9 days and loved every moment of it. Beautiful sunsets, seeing dolphins and whales from the deck. Just perfect.

Charles W., Gem Lake, MN, 2.1.12

Ocean Treehouse

Location location location. And the house really feeling like a home and not a rental. The kitchen was well done with all tools needed for cooking, which we like to do. Their outside decks with beautiful plants growing everywhere is breathtaking and just adds to the beauty of the house.

Cheryl T., York, NB, 2.1.12

Garden Lanai

Garden Lanai is in the beautiful residential area of Lanikai, which has the loveliest beach ever! The apartment is on the bottom floor of the owners' house and is completely private with its own parking and an enclosed lanai. Although the place is not very big (the bedroom and bathroom are small) it quickly felt like home with everything we needed and then some, with plenty of closet and dresser space, a very generously equipped kitchen (including soap, cleaning supplies and laundry detergent, etc.), good wi-fi, as well as beach chairs, mats, towels, cooler, and an outdoor shower (hot and cold) for cleaning off after another wonderful day on the beach. The owners are nice and the atmosphere of the place and the surrounding neighborhood is friendly and serene.

Beach tips: from Garden Lanai, walk 5 minutes to a tiny beach, used by locals for a quick swim and to launch their kayaks and outriggers. Or drive a few minutes, park, and walk down one of the entry points (located every 0.1 mile or so between residences) to Lanikai Beach, which is gorgeous and has the most beautiful blue water and softest sand. The beach at Kailua Beach Park is beautiful too but it can be hard to find parking, especially on weekends.

Restaurants: For dinner we liked Zia and also Noburu on Hamakua Street (across from the Safeway). For shave ice, Island Snow on Kailua Rd. (Pres. Obama takes his daughters there when they're in Kailua).

Window shopping: Have a look at Muumuu Heaven (Kailua Rd.), where they take vintage muumuus and other Hawaiian fabrics and incorporate them into clothes and other items.

Other good things: On Thursday morning we bought local produce and flowers at the People's Market. We drove up the Pali highway to the lookout at the summit -- great view, wild wind. We also loved the Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden -- go in the morning for best light.

Kihei Treehouse Cottage

This was such a perfect experience I don't want to share it with others who may want to go there!

Tyrae M., Portland, OR, 1.31.12

Waikoloa Beach Villas H1

The 3 bedrooms and 3 baths made this very convenient for all. Roy's restaurant down the street was really good, a little loud but service was great. Although bbq almost every night at the unit is what we wanted to do. Rent one of these condos and you will have a blast!!!

Joyce K., Edmonds, WA, 1.30.12

Kauhale Makai 309

I enjoyed the setting and area where Kauhale Makei is located but was not impressed with our condo. We found several small things wrong with the condo so in the end I would not rate this particular condo high. For example. l. The vent and area above the stove was rusted and filthy. 2. All air vents in the condo were coated with dust. 3. The kitchen cupboards were covered with a sticky substance. Could have been grease or some kind of cleanser not wiped off properly. We think grease as we tried to clean it and it wouldn't come off. 4. The curtain in the front bedroom was partially off the hooks. Also the sliding door in the front bedroom is very difficult to open and then lock when needed. 5. The extra bedding was in poor condition. The pillows were badly stained and the sheets needed replacing. 6. The kitchen sink plugs up at times. Did not drain adequately. 7. There is no lock on the bathroom door in the large back bedroom 8. Not enough kitchen essentials such as a cutting board or knives that actually cut. We bought both and left them for the next renters. 9. Condo door difficult to open. Lock should probably be replaced with new hardware.

Brenda P., Nelson, BC, 1.30.12

Tradewinds Cottage

The cottage was very quaint, close the beach, and convenient for most attractions. Loved Buzz'es restaurant. Would definitely recommend Ha:Breath of Life at the Polynesian Center. All of the locals were very helpful and just plain nice! I miss Hawaii already!!!!

M A., Lakewood, CO, 1.30.12

Waikoloa Beach Villas D3

Location was great. Customer service was good but emails weren't returned when I had questions. The air conditioning is lousy in the master bedroom and freezing cold in the 2nd bedroom. A phone would have been nice and 10 AM checkout is not a reasonable time.

Dean B., Richmond, BC, 1.30.12

By the Sea Apartment

Great location--very close to beach. Nicely furnished. We had several quiet evenings in the ohana untila
a family of five showed up upstairs. Had to ask them
to quiet down, which they did by 10pm. So just
be aware that if you are downstairs it can be loud
having folks upstairs. Rental company did inform
us there would be a family, but due to late booking
our options were limited. Property mgr next door
was friendly and helpful as needed. Would stay
there again for sure if upstairs not booked.

Roxanne W., Olympia, WA, 1.30.12

Endless Horizon

The home was beyond gorgeous with a perfect location, 5 min to downtown Lahaina (if you wanted you could bike or walk to Front street), another 5 min to kanapali and super easy access to the airport, Haleakala, the aquarium, hikes, etc. A park for our children was a just a quick 3 min drive. The home was very well stocked with swim toys, noodles, a boogie board, and everything you could possibly want for cooking. You wake up every morning with the most gorgeous views of the ocean, the island of Lanai, and whales abounded! We had some issues with the property management company, but the owner of the unit was quick to address and ameliorate all of them making the stay fabulous. The owner's handyman, Joe, is also this phenomenal, professionally trained chef. He prepared a meal for us and our Maui friends one evening and it was truly one of the best meals we have ever experienced. Such a special night and I cannot recommend him enough! Make sure to ask the rental company for his info! The best part of the trip was being together as a family in one place enjoying all of the beauty and excitement of Maui. The best restaurant we found was Hanu in Lahaina, such unique, healthy, delicious food. The best salads and tuna-bruchetta we have ever tasted! Hula Grill is great for a fun evening on the beach and Beach Bums next to the aquarium is wonderful for BBQ lunch! Warren and Annabelle's magic show is hilarious and not to be missed! Golfing at the Dunes and at the Four Season on Lanai is a golfer's delight! The Pacific Whale foundation does a great whale watch and all of the money is donated to whale research. The I'o needle hike is gorgeous and perfect for younger kids (ours were 2, 5, and 7 at the time). Don't miss driving to Haleakala and the views from 10,000 feet! Be sure to rent kayaks at 505 Front Street and try a surf or paddle board lesson from Goofy Feet, also at 505 Front Street. My advice to someone else staying in the home would be just enjoy and pinch yourselves that you are able to stay in such a breathtaking place because your vacation will be over in a minute and views like that are hard to come by! Of course after two weeks you really get into the swing of things, but there are new Maui "finds" you are discovering daily; and we cannot wait until next year to experience Maui again. This home was perfect, great views, pool, bedrooms, gorgeous bathrooms, amazing kitchen, loved the location and the little horse farm down the road was so nice for our children. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to our friends in Chicago. Can't wait till next year! Marisa M, Chicago, IL

Marisa M., Northbrook, Illinois, 1.30.12

Mushroom House

Very comfortable home away from home atmosphere! Arish, property manager/caretaker is awesome - great personality and a phone call away. Actually, few yards from Mushroom House. Friends from Oregon enjoyed their stay and visit to Kualoa Ranch, PCC and North Shore -- super happy that the ranch house was available b/c it definitely beats staying in a hotel especially when you need space for the whole family! Most certainly will be "shouting" out to all my friends and family personal FACEBOOK da coconut wireless, Hawaiian Style! Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou Kakou!

Susan S., Silverton, OR, 1.29.12

Hale Maluhia Ohana Cottage

Our stay in Hawaii was great! The entire process of setting up the rental was very smooth. Misty was great to work with. The directions were easy to follow. The payment process was smooth and simple. The location of the rental is within easy walking distance to an awesome beach. I absolutely love Kailua! It's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Waikiki area. I've given the overall rating for the property "fair" for 2 reasons. First, felt it should have been cleaner. When I pay a cleaning fee for such a small rental I expect that the previous renter did the same and the place will be professionally cleaned. If you paid the cleaners to clean up after the previous tenant you need to get your money back. Second, the property offers no privacy. While in the bathroom with the windows pulled closed I could easily hear the people in the rental behind us talking over breakfast. I specifically asked before we rented the place if it offered privacy. Enough of the complaints:-) Overall the location is awesome and the price was fair (except the cleaning fee.)

Ryan J., Bellingham, WA, 1.29.12

Puamana 192-1 32 Standard OF

Spectaular ocean front view with sunsets and whale watching. Close to Lahaina and other attractions.

Jim C., Cincinnati, OH, 1.29.12

Kailua Designer Suite

Very clean and roomy. It says it sleeps up to 3 people, there is a king bed in the 1 bedroom and a couple of couches in the other rooms. I'm not sure which couch might open up to be a sleeper, but none of them looked like they would. I would recommend planning only 2 adults for this unit. I do think that if I brought my kids with me next time, the bedroom is definitely big enough that I would maybe put them on the floor in there (If they would allow it). Otherwise a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and a short 10 minute walk to the best beach on this side of the island. Kailua is a very fun town to stay in, plenty of shopping, places to eat, grocery stores and places to rent ocean gear (kayaks etc). All in all, we had a great stay.

Rachel M., Heber city, UT, 1.28.12

Lahaina Dreams 6 bedroom

We could not have found a better place to have our family (multi-family) of 17 people - kids ranging from 19 months to 8 years - young adults and grandparents. The spaciousness, the beauty, all the amenities we could want, in one truly gorgeous home. The pool and hot tub were used daily -or multiple times daily - even when we spent the day at the beach. The kitchens were a joy to work in (even on vacation). We mainly used the big kitchen for all our family meals- with room enough for all to pitch in & help. It was a great retreat for all 5 families. We enjoyed the occassions we were able to talk to Sparky & Linda (owners) & the beautiful-well mannered dog was a hit with the little ones. Thank you for opening up this home to us! The walks down the long beautifully landscaped drive - and the trails were wonderful. We would also like to thank our Vacation Rental Agent - Jeff B.& his crew (Hawaiian Beach Rentals) - for helping us find this awesome place- and the little touches they added- such as the welcome package with goodies, coffee, sunscreen and much more. I can't find the words to tell everyone just how amazing this place is for a large group & we all hope we can do this again. (We got spoiled & now, no other place will ever be as good as this one.) Aloha!!

DONALD & LAURA R., TILDEN, NB, 1.28.12

Aloha Beach House

We had a fabulous stay at the Aloha Beach House!! The property is cutely adorned, and very comfortable. It is decorated so well, and really makes you feel the aloha spirit from the minute you pull in the driveway. The kitchen was stocked very well for a beach rental. It's not often you find all clad pans and every possible kitchen utensil you can think of. We enjoyed the lanai off the bedroom for our morning coffee and a dinner or two. The place really is wonderful. The only downside is the road noise, as the house is right on the Kam highway; but after a night or two it was hardly noticeable. The property manager Mark was wonderful, and very helpful to us. It was difficult to leave, but I hope to return sometime in the future.

Elizabeth J., Norfolk, VA, 1.28.12

Hale Napili

This location is a great combination of being close to the pool, beach, shopping and restaurants. Made it very easy for a family to plan.

Annette M., Tangent, OR, 1.27.12

Hale Kehau

The part of my trip I would definately recommend is the Inter Island "doors off" helicopter ride. It was amazing. We also enjoyed the Kauai Photo Tour. Watching whales from the living room of this house was incredible

Lynn L., Midland, TX, 1.27.12

Kuilima Estates 48W

The place was perfect for 2 people, very quiet, loved sleeping with the doors open (screens closed) at night and listening to the trees, the rain and the ocean. Plenty of towels. Location was perfect. It was very safe. The ice cube trays leak and are creating a little sheet of ice in the freezer - just a heads up to the owners/property managers. We will stay again.

Paige C., San Diego, CA, 1.27.12

Pali Ke Kua 204

The view was fabulous.. the condo is well-equipped but bit outdated in terms of furnishings. This complex is listed as having air-conditioning-- that is not the case. Angela in the Princeville office was outstanding.. mahalo! Looking forward to coming back soon!

Joy G., Dayton, OH, 1.27.12

Garden Lanai

This unit served our needs as we wanted a place to stay that was close to our daughter, and did not spend a lot of time here. I guess the saying you get what you pay for would apply here, as this was reasonable rent for the place - being it was within walking distance from the wonderful Lanakai beach. It is pretty compact, so I would not recommend it for more than 2 people. The fact that we had a few cloudy rainy days probably made it seem a little more dreary than normal > but even a rainy day in Hawaii is good!!

DONALD & LAURA R., , , 1.25.12

Lanikai Beach Bungalow

This is a comfortable home offering incredible oceanfront views in a quiet but charming neighborhood. The location and conveniences of a private residence cannot be compared to any other accommodation. We were very pleased and hope to return again in the future. The host was super congenial and helpful. A very nice and unexpected perk was the Pillbox hike to breathtaking views just up the road, rivaling Diamondhead. Also, Kailua Beach Park is a short walk or run and the towncenter a short drive for all the conveniences of coffee, quaint boutiques, ice cream, and fantastic pancakes at Cinnamon's. Waking up to watch the sun rise over the ocean while drinking hot coffee is something all vacationers to Hawaii should have the pleasure of experiencing. We used a rented kayak and paddleboard and also snorkeled right down the steps leading to the beach from our backyard.

Sarah T., Hardin, MT, 1.25.12

Kailua Kai II

Location is excellent, and Kailua itself is a most lovely spot. The town is small but for a short stay of say, a week, there are several good spots for dinner and very good supermarkets. The house is cute, small but very well set up. To take into consideration is that bedroom upstairs has little privacy since it is a loft arrangement. Big living/family room and comfortable seating and eating arrangement. Two TVs were a plus for a couple of rainy days.

My only concern, and why we do not rate it a full 5 stars is that it could better furnished. A more thorough cleaning is also recommended. For example, lampshades in one bedroom were rusted, there were candle was drippings in the bedside tables, and pots and pans also needed replacement (we ended up buying a small skillet ourselves. I would encourage the owner to look into this since it would certainly improve the overall rental experience.

Having said that, the location is so lovely, it almost makes one forget these complaints. Thank you for whoever came to help us when the lights went out for a couple of hours (having candles and flashlight in the house is also recommended). We had a marvelous time overall, and these comments are meant as positive feedback to owner/manager.

Thanks to Lori and the management team for easy rental process experience. We also met the owner and my kids enjoyed his friendly conversation. There is a good chance we will return. Aloha!

Waipouli Luxury Condo C301

Waipouli Luxury Condos was wonderful for our vacation. We rented unit C-301 and it was wonderful. The only down fall for this unit is the road noise heard when leaving the screen doors open overnight. Road noise starts about 6:00AM. However that did not distract from a perfect vacation and we loved the rental unit. It was clean, definite quality and affordable. We found the Wahoo to be our favorite. We tried eating at the Oasis Restaurant right at the complex but the food was terrible. In fact it was worse than terrible. We tried twice to be sure we just didn't have a bad night. We will definitely tell friends about this accommodation and we will be back again ourselves. Thank you so very much for making our reservations and introducing us to a wonderful place.

Bob B., Dundee, OR, 1.25.12

Kaanapali Royal H302

We loved the floor plan, it was perfect for two couples. Lots of room. The gal at the desk at the condo office was not very friendly . She just wanted the parking fee and that was it. It would have been nice for the condo to have a listing of resturants, things to do in the area, etc. Some recommendations. We liked Betty's, Buba Gumps, Maui Brewing Company had fantastic onion rings, Dollies Pub was also very good. Did not like Moose McGuil (something). Loved the whale watching and the dinner cruise with the save the whales group. Highly recommend both as a have to do. We recommend that the owners of the unit we stayed in need to do some work - painting ceilings/walls, replacing all window treatments, the bed in the downstairs bedroom was extremely uncomfortable and adding a TV to the downstairs bedroom would be nice. Location was great, close to so much. It really needs to be updated. I would recommend that you as well as the property manager not be part of that unit until it has some work done to it. Others that we talked to at the pool said the units they were staying in were great and would return. Thanks for your help with the car. We will definitely recommend your organization to those we know traveling to your great state.

Karen S., Sleepy Eye, MN, 1.24.12

Maui Vista 3117

We loved our stay at maui ista suit 3117, felt just like home! I can not wait to tell others to stay there when they travel to maui, i will also stay again when i return!

Nikki M., Calgary, AB, 1.23.12

Beach Estate on Maui

What I liked best about the unit I rented was its proximity to the beach and local amenities, as well as the authentic "Hawaiian" feel of the house. The customer service I received was very good. The best part of my trip was the memories we made together as a family. The best restaurant I found was Stella Blues. I can't wait to tell all my friends that we had a great trip as a family. My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be to make sure you use the services and amenities available to you. The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is to stay at a property managed by the Management company that took care of our house-- they were very good. I didn't have time this trip, but next trip I'm looking forward to more scenic drive-- Haleakala, Hana, etc.

Shelby H., Olympia, WA, 1.23.12

Hale Pulelehua

Great pool & close access to the beach. Had everything we needed. Owner of property asked if we had any questions, and how we were doing.

Janice C., Sherwood Park, Alberta, 1.23.12

Island Colony 1816

Close to transportation, beach, shops, food.

Faye M., Novato, CA, 1.22.12

Paradise Shores 401

Our family really enjoyed the Paradise Shores unit, and was especially entranced by the beautiful sight and sounds of the ocean outside our windows. The view was spectacular, and we loved going to sleep with the sound of the ocean waves nearby.

The location is good, easy to get to a variety of attractions. My husband and I always like a local, more personal feel for the area. You're somewhat limited if you like going to nice restaurants every night, but there are a couple of good one within 15 minutes, and more over slightly farther as you go toward the Turtle Bay area.

It's a real plus having the ocean right in front of you, with the ability to hop down to the beach at a moment's notice!! We enjoyed the sea turtles there, the sun, and the whole Hawaii ambiance. We highly recommend the unit and the area for an interesting, restful vacation.

Kona Lava Beach House

As often said in the real estate world, "location, location, location!". That explains the best attribute of this house. What could be better than watching whales and spinner dolphins entertain as you have breakfast on the lanai? The shops and restaurants of Kailua Kona are just a few blocks away. It's a little tricky getting out of the driveway onto busy Alii Drive, but drivers were usually gracious enough to let you out. Greeter Mike was attentive to our needs; brought new propane tank for grill so we wouldn't run out & suggested restaurants to try. (Lava Java was very "Ono!") Loved sitting in the hot tub each evening sipping wine! To address previous reviews, yes, the house is victim to the ravages of sea air. How could it not be? It hangs out on the ocean. Loved our stay at Kona Beach House!

LYNN L., Midland, TX, 1.22.12

Ke Nani Kai 126

The lay out of the unit was good, and I enjoyed the view fro the patio, as well as the pool. I had some minor issues with the ensuite toilet, had to adjust the stopper in the tank after each flush, otherwise water kept running. The kitchen, particularly some dishes and the cutlery were not clean at my arrival. But overall no complaints, thank you

Sigrid L., North Vancouver, BC, 1.21.12

Aqua Henalu -4 bedroom

Great location, beautiful view and good service. Best places to eat nearby are Haleiwa Joes and Jameson's By The Sea.

David R., Los Gatos, CA, 1.21.12

Hibiscus

What we liked best about the Hibiscus, or Blue Water as the owner calls it, was definitely the VIEW. This has certainly the best view in Kona and perhaps on the whole west coast of the island. The property is ocean-front on a slant that allows views out and to the north, clear of any other close property. The lanai has plenty of teak patio chairs, lounges and tables, and we enjoyed watching the crashing waves and the cruise ships which dropped anchor close by. You are close to a very nice public beach reached by walking the low seawall framing the ocean-side. This was both a plus and a minus; you are in a gated, patrolled neighborhood but the seawall is a public access "highway"; however, we had no problems and once we got over the initial surprise of seeing strangers so close to the house, it was fine. The pool was the only disappointment; despite sunny weather, it was quite cool and needed cleaning so we never used it. The hot tub was fine. Someone should pull the weeds growing out of the rock around the hot tub & parts of the pool edge; otherwise these will eventually break the rocks apart. There were a few minor things that needed fixing upon arrival (loose toilet seat/broken closet door) but the manager fixed them promptly and we felt he would attend to the major ones later (no stoppers in the master bedroom sinks-just the pipe holes/broken luggage rack). The kitchen was well-stocked, and the outside grill worked well. The house is very modern with many stair steps; probably won't work well for the elderly nor for families with very young children as floor & furniture surfaces are very hard. The glass doors can be completely opened up ocean-side which was very pleasant. The entryway is comprised of large stone squares surrounded by water and a waterfall; the waterfall sound was pleasant but it needs the white salt cleaned, the plantings need some attention and the pond needs more stones to cover the bottom & the tubing. There was a major problem with the stone-paved circle drive but it appeared to be severely broken from a large tree recently(?) lost in the center and will be a major expense to repair. All in all, we took a point off for some maintenance, but the 5-star view will enchant you!

John and Susan N., Marshfield, WI, 1.21.12

Fairways At Mauna Lani

Our rented unit was very spacious, comfortable, and convenient. The pictures do no do the unit justice. I highly recommend this.

The best part of my trip was doing a night manta ray dive with Kona Diving Company. Their service and knowledge was great. We saw 21 mantas. Even the snorkelers had close encounters.

Sinee K., LIBERTYVILLE, IL, 1.20.12

Sunrise Suite 1 at Whale Song

My husband and I had a wonderful 15 days at the Sunrise Suite. The room was clean, nice, and the views were awesome!! The owner gave us great advice on places to go and great restaurants. They were very accomodating to let us stay late on the last day since our flight did not leave until late that night.

We love Maui and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the real Hawaiian experience and get a great taste of the local culture.

Many thanks to Dennis!!

Honua Kai-Konea 3 Bedroom

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous condo! The best unit of the best condo complex on this beach by far. We saw a ton of humpbacks while eating breakfast on our patio. Amazing. I would recommend this condo in particular for 2 couples with kids as there are 3 bedrooms - 2 with king sized beds and 1 with two queens. Next time we are back, we would absolutely stay in this same unit. Dukes is a good restaurant, Aina marketplace a bit overpriced. Surf school in Lahaina - Maui Wave Riders - was excellent!
Times grocery store just across the street is great. Java Jazz in the same strip mall makes amazing coffees and smoothies. There is a little gift shop across from the Java Jazz that i can't remember the name of that is super for cute, inexpensive dresses.
The only bad thing about our holiday was that we had to come home!

Ko Olina Beach Villas 3BR3BA - Ocean Views

We really enjoyed all aspects of our vacation.
The most enjoyable was having a kitchen available
And the location next to the other resorts.

Makahuena 4301

The location is excellent for access to the best of poipu. The trail just outside the apartment leads to beautiful rocky cliffs where whale watching, turtle watching and sunset viewing are spectacular. The apartment itself is comfortable. Negatives are early morning noise from hikers on the trail and the parking lot just adjacent to the apartment (it is on the end of the building - but this means more windows which provides a great cross breeze). The pool and spa are not incredible but are nice. There is also a tennis court and the apartment has rackets, boogie boards and some snorkle supplies as well as cooler. Brenneke's is great for afternoon and later evening happy hour and is a short walk. The Hyatt and Sheraton are also short walks along the beaches for dinner or lunch. We ate at the apartment most of the time and enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Waimiea canyon and the northshore - kayaking, hiking, botanical gardens and Na Pali coast were favorites. Tubing was ok - fun but not worth the money. Smith's luau was nice, food mediocre and entertainment amateur but it was also huge and if you want a more intimate experience, recommend one of the smaller companies. Smith's did have lovely gardens but there was little time to really enjoy them.

Kuilima 49 East

We really enjoyed our stay, the pool area was nice and sunny and the full kitchen was awesome. The only suggestion I would make is to include a detailed map of the condo development in the entry instructions. We arrived very late at night and had to park outside the gate while I walked around trying to find our unit to access the keys in the lock box. Hard to find the right unit number in the dark !! Other then that, our visit was wonderful. Would recommend other guests try the burgers at the Kahuku Grill and check out the market in the old Wailalua sugar mill.

Thanks !

Nakea Home

The home was well-equipped, clean and comfortable. The area was quiet and set apart. Loved being on the beach -- calm waters, good snorkeling, great views of breaching whales. If one is looking for a remote location, this is it. No cell service and the land line at the house was unreliable. But the WIFI worked for searching online. If you'd rather stay closer to the "thick of things", like more of an urban or community setting, note that this was is well-off the beaten path; e.g., a trip for groceries was a 10-15 min drive. Nice amenities and great response from owner about what was available to us.

Spirit of Aloha

Aloha...this was the best trip ever. I took my 73 year mother over for a vacation. The condo is awesome, the owner is a very nice man that was more than accomodating. It was clean and comfortable and has a awesome view. Everyone I met there was nice. The building is secure and I really liked that there was a security guard there at night. I can't wait to go back. This part of the island is more layed back and relaxing than the hustle bustle of the cities and that was what I was looking for. But its close enough that you can get to the bigger towns in a hour or so. The beach is great for swimming or just taking a long walk. I will recommend this condo to ALL my friends and family wanting to go there. Thank you Hendrick for a awesome visit to your beautiful condo.

Stunning Oceanfront Suite

We loved being ten steps from the ocean and swam every morning as soon as we got up. It's a very benign swimming venue - not too rocky and no crashing surf. Our landlady Tish was very charming and gave us great suggestions on what to do and where to shop and eat - renters should be sure to take advantage of her local knowledge. The "suite" is very basic but/and comfortable. The cooking facilities are a 2 burner hotplate, a microwave and a bbq, all that we really needed. With wireless and a nice TV we were all set. The location is very pleasant - away from the urban part of Oahu - peaceful. There are good grocery stores 5 minutes away. This is a great place to "get away from it all". One day we just stayed at home and read, enjoying the sound of the surf and the intimate view of the ocean just outside.

Kailua Ohana Hale

Honestly, the only thing that we liked about this house was the beach. This house is VERY old and unkept. The hot water heater isn't even big enough for a one bedroom apartment. We couldn't have one nice shower without the water getting cold! The washer and dish washer are so old it made us wonder if our dishes and clothes were even getting clean. The cupboards are all ply wood and filthy. There was no where to put our clothes, had to go buy a bunch of hangers. The beds and the bedding was terrible! I felt really lied to as far as the pictures online go... The pics made the house look amazing! Your people told me that they had personally seen the house and that it was REALLY nice!! Clearly that is not the case. I couldn't wait to leave. On a positive note, the beach was awesome. However, I would NEVER stay in that dirty, dirty house again. Way over priced!!!!!!!

Kuilima Retreat 142W

Our Condo was very clean and comfortable. We were very pleasantly surprised! We enjoyed ourselves and our accommodations made our visit perfect! The only negative was our airline travel was overbooked and resulted in a delay in our expected arrival time, but Mark was very accommodating and gracious. The only thing I would change is that the directions said the lock box was "on the door", and it was on the wall beside the door, but that is only a "detail" .... Everything was Perfect!!! If we are ever blessed to return to Oahu, we will definitely desire this property again! Aloha!!!

Maui Sunset 412B

The suite was nicely located, good views, very well equipped kitchen. No parking issues. The suite was somewhat dated and could use a deep cleaning. Carpet was somewhat dirty and stucco ceiling was dripping was dust bunnies. The suite seemed dark despite all the mirrors which I though were an excellent idea for light as well as giving the appearance of larger size. We ended up taking off the black lamp shade which improved the lighting. I agree with previous residents about perhaps having a darkening shade in the bedroom as it does get very light in there very early in the morning. Shower floor was quite grimey looking as was the tub floor. The gals at the desk and the pool gave fairly curt and limited information. Just did not feel that welcomed. There are ALOT of stores on Maui. There is ALOT of alcohol to be had on Maui. Prices on Maui are high as expected except for the booze. Didn't go to many restaurants. Hit most all of the beaches and found the snorkelling spots. Signage was ambiguous or nonexistent as regards many of the beaches and the hiking walks. Too many "danger signs posted" by a CYA governmental administration make one ignore most all of the signs. Maui was nice but I don't think I will go back again.

Very nice, well maintained home, right on the beach and close to down town Kona. The only thing it lacked was its own pool; that was not a problem for us, there is a very nice community pool.

Nani Kai 3 Bedroom

Well appointed house in a great location. We loved watching the turtles and whales from our porch each day. Good restaurants, beaches and snorkeling areas were just a short walk away. The house was larger than expected and roomy enough for 6 people to comfortably stay. Rental agents were courteous and helpful with questions. We will definitely try to stay here again when we are back on the island.

The pictures of the home online do not do it justice! What a beautiful home in the perfect location. We had a party of 10 and there were things for everyone. Beach items for the young and old, including coolers (thinking those would be purchased upon arrival) enjoying the sunrise on the lanai while watching the folders was a pleasant start to the day! Safe neighborhood made us feel at ease having small children. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook as well. Absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay...will certainly recommend to friends and family! Thanks for the great time and memories!!

Mahana Resort 101

The location of the unit right on the beach and ground floor near the pool was ideal for our needs. We spent a great deal of time at the unit reading, etc and watching and listening to the surf. We spotted whales on some days not far out! The unit was in good shape and clean and Trinity Maid Service provided a good cleaning 1/2 way through our stay. Several good restaurants nearby, Roys, Gazebo and Dukes.

Kahana Reef 121

The location of this condo is excellent. The ocean is only feet from the back sliding door and just a few steps away is a private beach that very few people use. The units are very quiet and well maintained. The grounds are clean and the area feels very safe for the entire family. There is a great road to run along in the morning that follows the water and shops and restuarants are close by. If you like watching the whales go by and the turtles swim this is the place for you! We had a mix up with the safe and the rental company handled it immediately. Honestly, my only complaint would be that the unit needs a new blender. If you stay in this condo you will not be dissappointed!

Kona Lava Beach House

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Kona Lava Beach House. The only thing that would have made it better was a longer stay! The owners have great amenities....even down to binoculars which we used ever morning to watch dolphins and a whale while sipping our Kona coffee on the master bedroom balcony....it just doesn't get any better than that! It was a perfect home and we appreciated the owners renting it out, mahalo! Michael was great at showing us the ins and outs of the house, he even made sure we had a crib and highchair for our granddaughter (this even included freshly laundered baby blankets and sheets!) The house is the perfect distance from town to walk. Make sure you talk with the local people, networking is huge here, so ask....they have great suggestions and we saved lots of money by connections, everything from 20% two different meals at resturants to 20% off a tour! The local people could not have treated us nicer! There were a total of 8 in our family with us and the house was large enough...no rubbing elbows. Out best suggestion would be, don't over pack! I took 3 light jackets and didn't use one! There is a Walmart and Kmart near by for anything you might want or need. We did a lot and would not have changed a thing...some "musts" in our book would be snorkeling with the dolphins at Captain Cook Bay, night Manta Ray snorkle trip and the Royal Kona Resort Luau. We didn't do the volcano this trip because it wasn't active...next time! Yes we are going back...it was that great! Lastly, to share how blessed we were...yesterday we woke up to the lulling sound of the crashing waves out our windows and this morning we woke up to 4" of fresh snow out our window...we must be back home in Wyoming...only 364 days and counting till we go back....Aloha!

All in all a fabulous place to enjoy the best of Hawaii. Close to town but the house was private enough to afford one the luxury of some real down time. Gorgeous beach and house and pool. I would definately use this property again if the opportunity arrived.

This was a great location away from the highly populated tourist areas, with a good beach only 10 minutes away. All locations of interest are only 30 to 40 minutes away. We loved the area. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. We rented all 4 suites with 4 separate families, it was perfect for us! Paia is a great little town. We loved it and we will be back again. This was our third place to stay in Maui and clearly our favorite.

Hale Sweet Hale

We had a great time at Hale Sweet Hale. The house was perfect for us. Lori was super helpful and friendly.
The boys got up every morning and ran around the big yard.
Walking distance to the 2 best beaches on Oahu. Lanikai beach was just across the street and down the short path. Kailua Beach was 10 minutes walk along the road. They had beach towels, boogie boards and sand toys to take to the beach.
Lot's of room in the house, a king bed, a queen bed, a bunk bed and a single. One bathroom was sometimes tough with a teenage girl but we managed. WIFI was used daily. Anything you needed in the kitchen IF you wanted to cook!
Breeze through the house and the ceiling fan in the bedroom helped keep it cool at night, didn't need air conditioning. A little more noise than I am used to but it is pretty quiet in Wyoming!
Washer/dryer didn't seem to dry very well. A clothes line would be awesome for hanging wet, sandy towels outside.
Walked to Buzz's for a very memorable and delicious meal.
Farmer's market in Kailua on Thursday nights was a great spot to stop and get bread, fruit and vegetables and hot meals.
Surprised how few bugs were around, maybe just the season? We went at Christmas and New Years 2011-2012.
Obama's entourage did not affect us at all.
I would recommend this home for families for sure!

Ilikai 611

great location, close walk to the beach
shops in the hotel were also convenient

Suite 611 had a nice set up and we used the kitchen frequently; however it could use more kitchen towels for doing dishes (there was only one!)
The main bed was fine, but the sofa bed matress was not comfortable at all, and the sheets were old and thin (needs replacement)
The lanai was nice, but the big sliding doors were difficult to open (a little WD-40 might help)

Best part of my trip was using a car to get out of the busy Waikiki area and explore the beautiful beaches on the East end of the island and watch the big surf on the North shore

We stayed at this home with two other families and it was great. There was plenty of room to have your own space, while at the same time enjoy each others company in the living/dining room area. The beds were comfy and the location in poipu is great. There was also upstairs and downstairs laundry so no one was ever fighting over washing clothes. Overall a great house to hang out in and enjoy each others company.

Aloha Spirit

House was ideal. The layout made for cozy living yet plenty of privacy
The yard was huge yet enclosed so the play opportunities were fabulous.
The only minus was that it backed onto a road and we heard the cars going by.
The house had balls and beach needs very well covered. All in all perfect and plan to return!

Beach Walk

We had a great time in Kailua. The Beach Walk was perfect. Great location and perfect size. Our daughter lives on the island so we make frequent trips and always rent a place in Kailua/Lanikai and we were very happy at the Beach Walk. One thing I must say is , Jackie the propert Manager was so sweet. Our fight arrived late and she had bought us bread, milk and an assortment of fruits. Very thoughtful! Thanks you! We would definetly stay there again.

Alala Point has a GREAT location, a short walk brings you to BOTH Kailua and Lanikai beaches. The unit suited my friend and I perfectly in allowing us our own sleeping space, but also a deck to greet the beautiful mornings with our coffee. What I liked best about the unit I rented was The location
The customer service I received was Better than average. Agent was very helpful helping me find a place
The best part of my trip was the food!
The best restaurant I found was Too many to list, but the burger at Haleiwa Joes's was amazing
The best picture I took was of myself (us) at North Shore, about 5:00pm with the huge waves crashing in behind us
I can't wait to tell all my friends that We all need to plan a trip and go back together
My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be Go to the grocery store after you leave the airport, headed to the unit

I didn't have time this trip, but next trip I'm looking forward to

J23 was a wonderful place to spend our time on the Big Island. It had everything and was at a great location. If we return (I mean when) we would definitly try to return to J23. Julia was an EXCELLENT source for anything that we needed, she went above and beyond for all of your needs and questions. We did a lot of meals in the condo and the kitchen was well stocked with quality everything!! On this trip I was surprised to find that the market on Mauni Launi were very close in price to other markets in town and way more convenient!!

Laulea

Great house, great lanai, great pool, great beach, great location. What more could you ask for? This house was an excellent place for our two week, 3 generation family vacation. Quiet, gated street, right across from Kailua Beach Park, one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii, yet close enough to spend the day in Waikiki. The house was well equipped including lots of sand and floating toys for the children, plus beach chairs and towels. Loved, loved, loved it!

Patricia M., Brossard, Quebec, Canada, 1.6.12

Beach Street Cottage

What I liked best about the unit is the location to all things. We are from the Chicago land area. To drive 1 hour somewhere is nothing. We could reach everything we wanted to see in 1 hour or less. We loved have 3 bedrooms for 6 people. The kitchen was just what we needed. And have 2 baths worked well. We are all girls so 3 bathrooms would of been better but you can't have everything. It was nice to have beach and house towels to use. The washer/dryer were great. Have a hair dryer in each bathroom was a plus. And there was a small bottle of Aloe lotion in one that came in very handy one day. I have all little ones so we did put all of the pretty vase decorations on tables and shelves up high so they wouldn't break. Thank goodness nothing got broken. We loved having the shelf in the kitchen. It became our brag area. Every time we came home from a new adventure we displayed our family picture. We tried the Hukilau Cafe our first day and loved it. The Surfin Tacos was good too. And Keneses was really good as well. Nice and local and great feel. The only recommendation I have is to make sure if someone is arriving at night like we did is to have lights on in the carport/driveway. We couldn't find the house numbers in the dark and missed the driveway 3 times. Traveling 9 hours by plan with 4 kids and arriving at 10pm local time (3am home time) might of had a little to do with it. But by morning we were blown away by the view. The neighbors were helpful in figuring our the garbage system and said they were available for any other questions we might have. The beach was a nice walking distance and made for fun exploring. My oldest daughter said it was her favorite beach. The only other thing was the roosters. They started crowing between 3 and 4 am but I was on vacation and had no problem blocking them out. They were not outside the window but sounded off in the neighborhood distance. Nice change from car horns and fast traffic around our house. The house was lovely. Had all the same things from home and within walking distance of a grocery store and post office. Thank you for making your home available. We just wish the house had been available for the 4 extra days we wanted to stay but did get 2 extra out of it. Thanks again. We would recommend your house to anyone.

Garden Lanai

The Garden Lanai was perfectly located and had most of the amenities that we were looking for. The bed, however, was very uncomfortable and disappointing. We were also missing toilet paper, of all things, as well as pillow cases on the pillows. All in all, the experience was wonderful and we can't wait to do it again. Thanks again for your assistance.

Splendidly appointed and beautiful rental near to beach and town. We appreciated the amount of design put into the place. The window wall that opened to the lanai was a great touch. It was easy to slip into vacation mode from Day One. Looking forward to coming back.

Serenity Cottage

The best part of serenity cottage is the beach access and cute little well stocked home.Love the grill, gas stove, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer!
Regan greeted us with local gifts (very nice touch). I am on the board of the Sausalito Chamber of commerce and think this is a great way to orient guests to local businesses! The best part of our trip was walking on Kailua Beach early in the morning (daily) after rolling out of bed. I love all the friendly locals out with their dogs. Our favorite meal was at Baci Bistro. The Italian is as good as North Beach in San Francisco, and the risotto was straight out of Italy. our favorite brunch was in Waikiki at the Beachhouse, Moana Surfrider. $30 per person, but you can't beat the food, view, and history. (be sure to go up stairs and check out their historical room and video of Waikiki over the years). We took some great photos just steps away from our back doors that lead to the beach.my advice to anyone stating at the cottage is to Find Foodland and for specialty diets ( I'm celiac) visit Karen and Damien of The Source. The Source is the local healthfood store and Karen is an expert on Nutrition!
We will be booking our next trip at Serenity cottage. Our kids 11, and 13 had plenty to do right from our little home in Kailua! Oh, and don't forget to visit the green market on the corner, it will be your favorite place for coffee and deli!

The spectacular view and proximity to the ocean was amazing. The pool and its amenities were great as well. The accommodations of our condo were good too. The only complaint we might have is that the oceanview bar employees were not the friendliest and at times a bit rude to my daughters, who were of legal drinking age and were not treated with respect. The staff of the resort were helpful, friendly and accommodating. Thank you for offering this condo to us for our Christmas vacation.

We loved our week at the Happy Kailua Beach House. It has a great location -- half a block walk from Kalama Beach, close to town, and a short drive/walk from beautiful Lanikai Beach. Our family of five was very comfortable in the house, and we were grateful that it was stocked with everything we might need. We enjoyed hanging out on the beach, boogie boarding and body surfing, ocean kayaking (booked with Vacation Rental Agent), snorkeling at Lanikai and Hanauma Bay, exploring the rest of the island, visiting Pearl Harbor, and eating shave ice at Island Snow and Matsumoto's. I can't think of a better place to take a vacation!
