Honu Hale - This beach house is magnificent! It more than met our expectations. The lush vegetation and flowers are beautiful. We appreciated being able to borrow beach items and use the washer and dryer in the garage. The beach is very close. Buzz is a great restauant just around the corner.
Waikoloa Beach Villas D-1 - We loved the house we rented. My family of four and my brother's family of four were so pleased to have a beautiful place to stay where we could spread out and enjoy each other's company. It would have cost more to stay in hotel rooms and we wouldn't have had near the space we had here. Our house was wonderfully decorated and well supplied with more than we expected...snorkel and other beach equipment, well supplied kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. We drove to the volcano one day and in doing so, found that our drive was shorter than expected, and it made for a wonderful day trip. We left early (about 7:15 a.m.). It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes. The highest speed limit on the island is 55. We traveled between 45 and 55 mph the whole way, but the drive was so pretty that the time seemed to fly by. After driving the crater and walking the 4 mile hike (with a baby in tow), we also went to the Thurston Lava Tube then drive about 45 minutes to see where the lava flows into the ocean. It was a spectacular view, especially at night. My boys enjoyed swimming with the dolphins and we had a wonderful dinner at KPC on the water. We all agreed the Royal Kona Resorts' luau was even better than the show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The food was great, and the show was very entertaining. My boys were pleased with the short walk to the beach and I also enjoyed the pool right outside our sliding glass door. The customer service was above average. My brother spoke with to the manager about purchasing a unit, and found we may have paid more than average for the place...that would be my insider information. My mother, sister and I took a self-guided Kona coffee tour that we all really enjoyed and the boys took a great deep sea fishing trip. We took a morning and drove to Akaka Falls, which was nice, but we enjoyed getting the shaved ice there even more...make sure you get ice cream on the bottom. All in all, we prefer the big island to Oahu. We'd come back in a heartbeat. We have a few other places to visit first, but expect to come back with even more of the family next time. We will hit the southern end of the island then and maybe come back when the surfing is beter.
Kaanapali Royal H301 - My family of six adults rented this unit for six nights and absolutely loved it! There was plenty of room for everyone (even the sofa bed was comfortable!) and the unit was stocked with everything we needed. The location was great as well- just a short walk to Kaanapali beach. We could not have picked a better place to stay on Maui and we hope we can return soon!
Hale Hanalei - We had 11 people traveling ages 2 through 73. Renting this house was the best possible thing we could have done. It gave all 11 of us private space when necessary; however, it also gave us the opportunity to spend time together as well. We were a little sad because the BBQ wasn't working while we were there but we made due. We all enjoyed going to different beaches each day and big family dinners at night. I think we would all agree that The Smith's family Luau was one of the highlights of the trip. It was really nice to be able to experience the easy going slow pace of the Hawaiian culture in Kauai. We were all sad to go and are eagerly trying to plan for the next large family get away. We definately want to return to Kauai and hopefully to stay at Hale Hanalei. Thanks for the wonderful experience and as they say in Hawaii...........................ALOHA
Paradisio Ho'o Kumu - We were in awe the moment we walked through the door. The views, the sounds of the waves crashing, were just incredible. We had a fabulous time in this beautiful home. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the mornings and afternoons watching the clouds and the stars during the evenings. Thank you for sharing your home.
Garden Lanai - Great stay! We loved meeting you and your beautiful family... And "adopting" Kona for a couple of weeks! Looking forward to another 30-day stay with you next year. Take good care. Mahalo! Paul and Barbara
Ocean Breeze Suite - Being right on the ocean was wonderful! We loved the sound of the surf (24/7). We loved playing in the sand, walking on the beach and snorkling right outside the condo. The owners were very helpful and took care off everything we needed. The best part of our trip was taking surfing lessons from Sunset Suzy. The best restauraunt was at Lei Lei's at Turtle Bay. The best picture was of the sunrises from the lanai of the condo - every morning! I can't wait to tell me friends that the beach was only 10 feet from our door each morning. My advice to future guests would be locate the A/C early. We slept one very hot night without it. We found it the next day. The quarters are tight, but the room you have on (practically) your own private beach is worth it. We took a great little hike into the mountains on advice of the owner. It was about a 2 hour hike (stopped for lots of pics) and close to the condo (10 minutes). We saw beautiful plants and views of valleys and oceans. Staying at the Ocean Breeze was the best start to our Hawaiian Island-hopping vacation.
Annie's - Liked that the house was close to town and the beach. We took a helicopter ride that was just breath taking. Enjoyed the small town and the slow pace. Annies was perfect for me and my children who stayed ups stairs in the other unit. All the restaurants are good. We ate at most of them. Also Mediterranean Gourmet at the Hanalei Colony Resort was very good and an outstanding view of the Bay. Would visit again.
The Lynx Estate Kohala Ranch - my husband and i have spent a lot of time renting on the kohala coast...mauna lani facilities, waikoloa...and lived in hilo for 3 years, many years ago.
the lynx house was so perfect for us. we found the quiet and clean air fantastic (especially just coming from hong kong!) the uncluttered serenity of the house was great. we had a problem with internet availability from there (i understand it will be available in a few months:) but we worked it out. and when we called brian for advice, he responded immediately and was very helpful..
we definitely would like to return. it was a bit of a hike getting up there, but the trip was an adventure with the free range cattle occupying the road! it was charming!
favorite restaurant, hands down, was the harbor grill. outstanding. beats any restaurant on kohala coast!
