Hello Gary,
Yes, our family had a great stay at the Dolphin Retreat. Before I forget, the sink in the upstairs master bath is leaking. The cold knob is leaking under the bowl where it is attached and dripping down onto the shutoff valve and then onto the floor. Suggest you fix that right away.
We loved the house--especially the upstairs. It was a tough decision on who was going to get what bedroom because everyone wanted to be upstairs but it all worked out.
When we got to the house and walked around the side to see the back yard we were all blown away. It was truly beautiful and more than what we expected. We sat on the lower deck along the seawall every evening before sunset and soaked in the beauty of it all.
The snorkeling was great although we had to go to the little white beach over to the left in order for my parents to get in and out of the water safely.
I understand the kayak at our house is usually at your other house. I strongly feel you should always have the tandem kayak at the house as part of the amenities so we were glad to have it and used it several hours each day.
We all loved the upstairs lanai with the dining table. That was our gathering spot and it was great having all of our meals outside yet protected.
The house would be more comfortable with sliding screen doors upstairs as we did have a few mosquitoes and had to kill 2 large brown recluse spiders in the kitchen and one bedroom. We liked the geckos so keep them around.
The snorkeling was the best I have seen over by the Captain Cook monument and the spinner dolphins were fantastic. Paddling through a pod of about 40 jumping and spinning dolphins made the trip for my 77 year old father.
The hot tub was great and the outdoor shower was an added special.
Thank you for the stereo and all of the supplies in the kitchen. The wine glasses were put to good use.
Our family liked Big Jakes BBQ the best. It was the best pulled pork I ever tasted including North Carolina BBQ. Also, the luau at the King Kamehameha was small and personable with excellent dancers.
I would and will recommend the house to others and my parents want to come back again to the same house. So perhaps we will be returning in a few years.
Thank you for making my 50th birthday celebration a huge success and when I get the money I will talk to you about buying an interest in the house.
Not sure if we had a security deposit that is to be returned. Would you please let me know about that. My cell is 808-381-5387 or email me.

Hale Lahaina was a wonderful rental. It had everything one could wish for- all the necessary house supplies, ample towels, beach chairs, a ping pong table, and of course a wonderful pool which was the perfect temperature to cool down from the heat of the day. My only less than positive comment is that, while there were ceiling fans in every room, and floor fans as well, this house really needs air conditioning, as for me, the fans did not suffice to cool the house to a comfortable temperature (especially when the doors were closed while we were out). And yes, the screen doors are twitchy, but you quickly learn which ones to leave alone. However, that having been said, it is a great house, amazingly private considering it is surrounded on both sides and behind by houses, and wonderfully located right on the beach. You will undoubtedly enjoy the house and all Maui has to offer.
I had good time at your site but I had two things tell you that internet conectivity was poor and remote control of garage did not work well. However, it was very nice overall. Thank you very much!
My family and I feel like we were ih Hawaii. We happened to go to the Dolphin Quest at the Hilton. We stayed at the pool for the day. If someone stays at the Hilton and says they were in Hawaii, they are sadly mistaken. Thanks for a wonderful Hawaiin experience. The Farinacci Family
The Banana Beach House was everything and more than the listing indicated. It was understated luxury, spacious, inviting and very comfortable for our two families. The two master suites were wonderful - one had a view of the ocean and the other a view of the mountains. There were breathaking vies of the ocean from the great room, dining area and kitchen. We dined al fresco with palm trees in the background. The location of this house was ideal. We had a wonderful beach mostly to oursleves. The water was clear, the colors glorious and the snorkeling quite good. The neighborhood was peaceful. We went into Hanalei for excellent dining and fun shopping experiences.
The amenities, layout, furnishings and location of the Banana Beach House made this a truly dream vacation. Kudos to the owners for doing it right!
Nestled off the beaten path between two mountains, Kuraoka Cottage Haena is a lovely and peaceful cottage home. The treetop views of the mountains and distant waterfalls were beautiful, and the gentle sound of rainfall on the rooftop was cleansing to the soul. Do not expect an artificial "condo experience". Kuraoka is an opportunity to "borrow" the lovingly and artistically decorated cottage of a local owner and experience living within the Haena community.
I do not suggest that you try to first locate the cottage after dark as my husband and I did. We found it without missing a turn, but we felt as if we were contestants on The Great Race! A hand-drawn map of the bridges we would cross would have been helpful. Do bring a flashlight. It'll help you find your way from the road to your door on cloud covered nights.
Hawaiian Beach Rentals were very professional in dealing with us. The property was well represented and they were very quick to tend to a few small glitches that arose after we had checked in.
Kurakoa Cottage Haena is ideally located near the "end-of-the-road" beaches. If we are ever able to return again, I would definitely spend more time at each beach - just soaking up the sun and sounds of the North Shore. Ke'e beach, with its crystal clear water and great snorkeling, is not to be missed! Looking for coffee and baked goods on the run? The Village Snack & Bakery Shop is a great place to stop.
We loved our stay at Kurakoa Cottage and would considered ourselves blessed if ever we could return once again!
Plenty of space to accomidate our large group for the Wedding Celebration! Was impressed with how the house was stocked with all the little things (soaps, shampoo etc.) was a breathtaking view and very relaxing location.
Beautiful Napili tri-level home above a great snorkeling cove. Wonderful tradewinds breeze throughout the home so no A/C wasn't a problem. Parking is very tight. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.
The condo was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Great views of the mountains and the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended. If we come to Kauai again, we'll definitely stay here!
