Vacation review for The Cove in Anini, Kauai:
Once again, our family had a wonderful stay at The Cove. The hammock between the palm trees at the edge of the beach was a great addition since our visit two years ago. (Maybe a photo of that on the web page would be a good selling point!) As always, the house was well stocked with dishes, cookware, barware, linens and even beach towels. The beds were very comfortable, and the numerous fans helped keep the house cool and pleasant. We all had a great time swimming, snorkeling, and playing on the beach right behind our house. Hanalei Surf Co. is a good place to rent snorkeling equipment, and they don't charge extra for optical masks. The Foodland in nearby Princeville was wonderfully well stocked. We also especially enjoyed fresh local produce from Banana Joe's near Kileauea and fresh fish from The Dolphin fish market in Hanalei. The house is equipped with a gas grill, so we had many fresh healthy dinners enjoyed al fresco at the table on the lawn overlooking the water. My husband and 17 yr. old son took Kayak Kauai's Na Pali coast kayak tour. They said it was strenuous but amazing. Our whole family rented kayaks from Kayak Kauai and paddled the Hanalei river. The advantage of renting from them is that they are located right on the river and will help you launch. We also took Na Pali Catamarans' morning tour of the Na Pali coast. They did a great job - much better than our cruise from the south side of the island. On our last evening, our teenager babysat while my husband and I went to the twice-weekly Hawaiian slack key guitar concert in Hanalei followed by an amazing fresh fish dinner at the Dolphin restaurant. Both were very relaxing and enjoyable. We're already planning a return trip to Kauai!
