Vacation review for Alaua Hale Big Island in Waikoloa, Big Island:
The house is very nice, great value. Lovely winds come through in the evening, keeping it cool, though it is hot during the day without AC. We really enjoyed the large living room and nice bedrooms. We ran into problems with a habitually fussy toliet (documented in the house guest book) and had the bad experience of having all 4 smoke alarm batteries die and start beeping continually while we were there. We were able to remove 3 of the, BUT one battery is in a locked studio and it just beeped the entire time and no one could unlock the studio. rnrnBest thing to do: Hawaii Forest & Trail has great trips to see the endemic birds and rainforest--highly recommended. My teens enjoyed the trip, too.
