We really enjoyed the property and Kapaa's old town charm and central location. We found it equally convenient to head up to Hanalei and the areas in between as it was to go to the Waimea canyon. Some comments that I would make regarding 114 include: put a second lamp anywhere in the studio area, it was very dark for reading with only the one lamp at the bed; do something about the curtain on the window, its as though it was hung with a reverse pull if you want to go out to the lanai; and let people know where things are. My husband (who does nothing in the kitchen) was the one who suggested there might be a silverware drawer beneath the sink cabinet. That just seemed strange to me and even unhygienic; and warn people about the shower, the first time I used it water flowed all over the bathroom floor due to the slow drain and the lack of a lib to keep the water in. It took me 10 minutes to mop it up. Of course, my husband got it down well because I forewarned him and told him he would do his own mopping! These are very simple fixes that would make it much nicer for future guests. I was fairly frustrated the first 2 days but once we solved the mysteries of staying there we enjoyed it! And would even come back. I would only recommend it to a couple with no children or perhaps only one small child because it really is small. Making the second bed a pull out sofa or a Murphy bed would certainly create the illusion of it being far more spacious than it is. Nice people there, pretty grounds, good beach, and even a better view than I expected.. We will come back the next time we travel to Kauai ... such a beautiful place with such nice people. We have been going to Maui for years but really enjoyed Kauai's lush greenness and low key way of life.
