Several other animals are protected by the Marine mammal Protection Act such as dolphins and other whales. Although the boat captains are well aware of the laws, you too can be a guardian and give these creatures their space.

A word of advice is to learn a little about the laws because they are enforced and it is the right thing to do. Did you know that if you hold on to a sea turtle to go for a ride you could be killing the animal? If they are surfacing it is because they need air. Hanging on to them is going to freak them out and they may not get to where they were going. They also have been known to have heart attacks if frightened. So not only is it prudent to know the laws and obey them so you don’t ruin your vacation with a fine but it is also for the safety of the creatures. So you wish to come to Hawaii and have not a clue as to where might be a good place to stay. And, if and when you desire to see what all the fuss is about, the ever popular Waikiki and Honolulu are just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Waimea Beach Oahu is located on the north shore. You know Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands, right? Well this area is super famous for outrageous waves. We are talking monster. In the winter months they get as big as twenty-five feet high. Incredible. Though this sounds super exciting it can be dangerous for those with less surfing experience. Be smart, man. If you don’t have the skill, don’t give it a go. However, do not let that stop you from checking out the area and watching the pros go at it. Even the inshore currents can be crazy. The area has had some injury and loss of life, so be careful.

In the summertime though, the waves are on vacation and the water is steady like a lake. That would be a great time to visit if you are bringing along some young ones who love the water. Waimea Beach is a sweet little area where you can for sure get some good vacationing done.

You can’t imagine golfing on Maui, you have to experience it. There are over a dozen golf courses to choose from with a range of greens fees. Perhaps the most famous of which is the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. This is where the PGA Tour holds it’s Mercedes Championships each January and is considered by many to be the ‘golf mecca of the Pacific.’ There are actually three courses on which to play.
