TripAdvisor recently released its Top 25 list of Travelers’ Choice The Best Beaches 2011. Three different Hawaiian locales ranked among the 25 that travelers on the website selected as their picks. Honolulu (#7), Poipu (#9) and Kamuela (#20) on Oahu, Kauai and Big Island, respectively, placed high for their beaches.

Oahu
Honolulu is home to a wealth of sights and beaches, with excellent value and luxury vacation rentals within proximity of everything a vacationer seeks for an island adventure. Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and plentiful heritage sights are things to do beyond the beaches. Diamond Head Beach is not only known for great views, but surfing, sunning and windsurfing. Kahala Beach is where travelers find some space during the week in a classic island beach setting. Ala Moana Beach Park is a scenic place to go after a bit of shopping. Walk some presidential footsteps with a trip to Kailua Beach for an experience of gorgeous scenery, water sports and shave ice.

Kauai
Poipu is located on Kauai’s sunny South Shore and a longtime favorite for vacationers who want a surreal and perfect beach day. Sun, shore and sapphire-blue waters sparkling in the distance off warm sands make this a hotspot for families or couples. Vacation rentals here put travelers in close range from shops, eateries and sights, including heritage trails.

Big Island
Kamuela on Big Island is seemingly undiscovered but obviously a top pick among TripAdvisor’s travelers who have had the good fortune to find it. Also known as the Waimea area, vacationers here will have opportunities for spa and golf, in addition to a day at Hapuna Beach. Swimming, snorkeling and romantic strolls are top activities here and the beach is in the northwest part of Big Island. The beach has full facilities, including equipment rentals and picnic tables. While it has a number of trees within its area, shade is limited. Summer months are calmer if you plan to swim.

Seasoned travelers try to visit multiple islands in one visit or return to one that is new for them on separate trips to fully immerse in one area. TripAdvisor’s latest list serves as a helpful guide for those trying to decide in which areas to stay when visiting Hawaii.
