Swimming and snorkeling are popular activities at Kahaluu Beach Park on the north end of Keauhou where an ancient stone wall creates an area protected from the open ocean. To the north on the Kohala Coast is Samuel Spencer Beach Park which also is nice for swimming due to a protective reef. South of Keauhou is Kealakekua Bay which is a great place to see dolphins, and during the winter months this coastline is a great place to spot humpback whales.
The cuisine options in Keauhou are numerous including Rays on the Bay at the Sheraton Kona Resort where you can see manta rays in their natural habitat.
