Many travel to Hawaii for a once in a lifetime vacation, then stick to the roads that can only provide limited access in this rural remote paradise. Once you take to the air by helicopter the game changes and full mobility to float above and around the islands many types of terrain proves that there is much that can only be seen from  above.

The "Big Island" of Hawaii is the youngest and largest island in the entire archipelago, at double the amount of land of the seven other islands in the State in combined. By far the best and most efficient way to get to see all that she has to offer is by taking a helicopter tour. The aerial perspective gets you above some of the most dangerous terrain around the volcano with comfort and safety at its' maximum.

The helicopter themselves are built specifically for air touring and feature lots of windows for easy viewing in every direction so bring your well charged camera. Though rest assured as the helicopter has 4 cameras onboard recording your actual flight. This is offered as a DVD for sale to you after the flight for $26 and makes the memory easily shared with friends or family after the flight.

The Bonus of North Kona departures:
Launching from the Waikaloa Heliport, the "Spectacular" gets you around the island in 2 hours providing views few every see while saving an immense amount of driving time. You will literally fly between the twin 13,000-foot tall mountain peaks of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, arriving at the lava flows in 20 to 25 minutes. Fly above the most impressive and beautiful parts of the island while still fitting in a round of golf or an afternoon on the beach in the same day.

Local's Tip:
Book early flights as they often have the smoothest air and best visibility. If you are considering seeing the volcano while staying in North Kona or Kohala Coast the helicopter is the best way to go. You will save 6 hours spent in the car, and will get the best view possible of the often remote lava eruptions.
