Gaylord's and the Mahiko Lounge

Description

The 16,000 square foot Kilohana Estate is a stately manor built in 1935 by sugar baron Gaylord Wilcox. In 1986 the visitor experience of "Kilohana" was crafted incorporating the restoration of the old manor and estate into shops, galleries, a luau grounds, and  "Gaylord's" restaurant. Housed in the main house of the plantation, Gaylord's Restaurant and Mahiko Lounge showcase gourmet Hawaiian food in the courtyard and dining room halls of the historic building.

Casual Hawaiian with fine dining flair in the service and food preparations. The courtyard seating is classic Hawaii with open air ambience.

Featuring stately dcor inside, with open-air covered atrium seating available and especially enjoyable for the classic Sunday brunch service, with traditional Hawaiian hospitality and slack key guitar music. Sipping coffee in the late morning breeze while listening to live slack key guitar in the courtyard of a classic estate brings shades of old Hawaii to the modern day. The Sunday brunch provides great value in the huge breakfast buffet, which also comes with a choice of an ala carte item from a small menu that changes seasonally.

Gaylord's also has lunch and dinner service on the other days of the week, and now with the addition of the new Mahiko Lounge you can stop in without reservations for a glimpse of the historic estate while trying a tropical cocktail or portions of the full menu. Live piano in the lounge happens several nights a week, call them for current schedule.

Bonus:

If possible, visit Kilohana during the daylight hours and enjoy a walk around the estate. Sweeping views of the surrounding mountains are visible throughout the grounds, and many large shade trees and benches can provide a respite from your days touring about Kauai. There is also a number of shops and galleries in the other portions of the estate, including a "Koloa Rum Company" tasting room that has rum tasting every half hour.

Our staff's Pick:
Sunday Brunch is a great value for the quality of food and dining experience. Try the Ahi Benedict with hollandaise sauce!!! The "Build-your-own Bloody Mary Bar or Champagne Brunch options are great add-ons for those wanting cocktails.

*"Happy Hour" bonus "5 for 5" menu is offered from 4 to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday in the Mahiko Lounge. Featuring $5 pupus (appetizers). A great place to make a rest stop during driving tours around the island.
