Large, private swimming pool with electric cover. Vacation in a charming, kamaaina style plantation home surrounded by the beauty of nature. Kulike is a unique vacation property in a very tranquil, rural setting. The unique style, and freshness of the home complements the 'off the beaten path' location. It is the perfect location to return to after a day of exploring the island.

Kulike has been used in Pottery Barn photo shoots, and was featured in the February 2012 issue of Coastal Living Magazine. Coastal Living is quoted as saying 'Coming here is about being outside, enjoying the views and spending time with each other'.

Kulike is a classic Hawaiian design with modern amenities. It offers a very quiet country setting, with several acres of property, lovely ocean views, hundreds of tropical plants and trees, AND a 40ft swimming pool (with electric cover). Enjoy our little nature walk showcasing rare palms and plants. Many are labeled for your reference.

Our home was completed in 2005 and building materials were chosen to blend with the coastal elements - Douglas fir walls, hickory pecan floors, and mahogany window frames. We also wanted to be sustainable, and have catchment water, solar hot water, photovoltaic system for the pool pump, and of course our fresh air 'solar' clothes line (of course we also have a clothes dryer in the house).

The interior was designed in the style of a Kamaaina plantation house for a casual easy-going lifestyle. It has wide covered decks, full kitchen (including a commercial style range), two bedrooms with queen beds, one children's room with 2 single beds, two bathrooms, one with large soaking tub and the other with oversized shower, laundry, TV/DVD, high speed wireless internet access. Many of the furnishings are antiques.

This is a very special environment for the guest that truly wants to feel as though they have escaped!

This property has a vacation rental permit issued by the County of Maui, and is subject to the rules and restrictions imposed by the County for all short term rental homes. Please understand that we would be unable to accept a rental that does not agree to abide by these rules. Note: properties without a short term rental permit are subject to closure by the County.

1. Neighbors - Please be considerate of our neighbors. Noise carries easily to their homes, particularly in the evening. NO loud music, NO parties, NO amplified sound of any nature at any time. Many neighbors must be up early in the morning to go to work, and its important that your use of this property does not impact them in any way.

2. Quiet Hours - Quiet time is from 9pm to 8am.

3. Use of the Property - Additional friends/family CANNOT be invited to the property and it cannot be used as a meeting place. The property can be used ONLY by the guests listed on the rental agreement. The County law allows us to accommodate a maximum of two guests x the number of bedrooms.

4. Parking - There is plenty of parking on the property. Vehicles CANNOT be parked on the street at any time. When vehicles are on the street, there is insufficient space for emergency vehicles, fire trucks, the trash truck or neighbors to get down the road.

5. Minimum of 1 guest must meet the minimum age requirement of 25.

At the time of booking, we'll forward the property rental agreement for review and acceptance.

$545 - $595 per night. 30% down to hold a reservation. Balance due 75 days before check-in. $500.00 security deposit. $400.47 cleaning fee. 4% processing fee. Listed rates do not include tax. Holiday and peak season rates and required length of stay may be different than quoted above. Credit cards, cash, checks and wire transfers accepted.   • the moment we drove up the roundabout driveway and got our first view of the house, we knew we had picked the perfect place for our maui vacation! the house is much more gorgeous and spacious then the pictures show on the website. the view is phenomenal from the front deck, the saltwater pool is very large and the layout of both the house and the grounds is perfect for large or small familys or groups who want privacy. (i don't remember if this is part of the listing info, but the house is fully equiped with beach gear and a washer/dryer - which means you don't need to pack so much!) this is our 2nd trip to maui, the first to the Kulike house and i look forward to many more - i would highly recommend the kulike main house to anyone desiring an upcountry chic and yet very private home that's conveniently close to town. (don't forget a trip to Paia's Fish Market restaurant, on the corner of Hana Hwy & Baldwin - the best fish & chips and ono burger on the island)

  • THE HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL AND IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING. HOWEVER, IT RAINED MOST OF THE TIME. I BELIEVE THAT IS TYPICAL WEATHER ON THAT PART OF THE ISLAND...THAT IS WHY IT IS SO LUSH AND BEAUTIFUL. WE EXPECTED RAIN, BUT NOT THAT MUCH. WHEN THE SUN WAS OUT, THIS PLACE WAS SPECTACULAR, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT GREAT POOL. THANK YOU.
