Da Kitchen

Serving up local grinds, aloha, and big smiles It doesn't get any more local than Da Kitchen! The restaurant opened its first cafe in Kihei in 1998, and the uber casual "plate lunch in a takeout container" was an instant hit with locals and curious tourists alike. In 2000, Da Kitchen expanded, opening up a full-service restaurant in Kahulu. Both locations serve up an expansive menu of "ono" dishes and have seating for dine-in guests, although the Kihei location still holds to the plate lunch tradition of serving everything in a to-go container, whether you're dining there or taking it with you.

Both restaurant locations feature slightly different menus, although many of the favorite menu staples are the same at both. The Kahului cafe is located just a few minutes from the airport in central Maui. Headed to the beach? Stop by the south Kihei locationright across from "da beach"and pick up a to-go order to get you ready for a long day in the sun.

Pulling inspiration from local Hawaiian culture and cuisine as well as the many other cultures represented in the islands, the menu features a wide and eclectic selection of itemsmost including meat, although there are a couple of vegetarian options. And of coursewhat would a Hawaiian restaurant be without spam? Spam musubi and fried spam musubi are popular menu items, as well as the "Sumo Combo 4," which includes Teriyaki Chicken, Kalua Pork, Hamburger Steak, and Spam.

Both restaurants feature a chill, casual and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of local island vibe, and if you're visiting Maui and curious about "what the locals eat," this is the place for you!
