The drive to Pukalani brings you up to the Haleakala Highway aka HI-route 37 and into a small community designed around the golf course, complete with shopping center for meals or snacks and the community pool and park grounds. There is also a food concession at the club itself.
When mid-day tee times elsewhere can be hot and brutally sunny, Pukalani has the best temperatures and playable conditions for afternoon rounds on the island. Just be careful on windy days as the winds will pick up at this elevation in afternoons.
