It began as a single roadside truck back in 1993, back when the North Shore was a sleepy remote destination populated simply by locals and surf aficionados. As the North Shore has become more and more popular amongst visitors, Giovanni's has grown to be a must visit North Shore destination for tourists and local's alike, outside the little town of Kahuku. The original truck grew to add a picnic pavilion for guests to dine in comfort, and the owners bought the roadside property opening the area up for numerous vendors of both crafts and additional foods, such as fresh coconuts, and roasted corn on the cob.

As imitation is the highest form of flattery, you will notice that many other "shrimp trucks" have set up along the stretch from Turtle Bay to Kahuku. The original is still the best and you can't mistake it for any of the others. The strange tradition of signing the truck at Giovanni's has created a blanket of several thousand signatures blanketing the vehicle entirely from top to bottom.

The secret to the shrimp is the freshness, having been grown in ponds a few miles away. The years of seasoning and cooking shrimp is evident in the food. The scampi and garlic butter shrimp are both favorites. Though there may be a line to place order, you won't be disappointed when you step up to the pick up window to receive your golden fried shrimp goodness. Portions are not huge, but they are filling and delicious.
