Kalapawai Market

Description

An eclectic local neighborhood staple, the Kalapawai Market (located just off the beach in the bustling coastal town of Kailua) has been serving up snacks, smiles, and other essentials to beach goers, visitors, and locals since 1932. The historic shop is conveniently located at the entrance to the Kailua Beach Park and has a coffee and smoothie bar and deli, in addition to the grocery area which, although fairy small,  has a surprisingly large selection of foods, wines, and other items. The Dymond family that owns the market has a great eye for wine and the selection at the market shows it.  They also own the Kalapawai Cafe across town at its a can't miss place to grab some ono grinds.

AT A GLANCE:
Kalapawai Market meets a wide range of needs, from locals needing to make a quick grocery stop without leaving the neighborhood to beachgoers wanting to grab a healthy, hearty meal without having to "get cleaned up" or go into town.

The deli has a large menu of fresh-prepared food including pizzas, breakfast items, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and much more. A variety of smoothies and coffee drinks are available at the bar near the entrance. For visitors in a rush, "grab-and-go" sandwiches and other food items are also available.

The grocery area has a large selection of wine, beer, canned goods, dry goods, art and other touristy items, and a refrigerated section with chilled beverages and snack items such as cheese, hummus, and much more.

Service is fast and friendly, and there is on-site parking available, as well as a shaded outdoor seating area to the side of the market. No shirt and shoes, no problem.
