George Fazio Golf Course at Turtle Bay

George Fazio Golf Course at Turtle Bay

Description

Though the north shore of Oahu is more appropriately known for being the surfing capital of the world, just a 15 minute drive further north brings you to a jewel of resort complex sharing the same epic ocean views. The picturesque Turtle Bay Resort is a perfectly manicured and landscaped paradise located on Oahu's northern most point.  It hosts two golf courses that rank among some of the best in the state. The Fazio Course is the original Turtle Bay course, featuring uninterrupted ocean views through out the front and back nine.

Highlights Enjoy golfing in paradise, as you play an oceanfront course lined with beautiful palms and tropical landscaping. Neighboring Kuilima Cove and beach provides a great place to swim for yourself, or the non-golfing visitors in your party during your game or afterward.
Challenges: The course design features shorter yardage, but raised greens that make for challenging approaches. The lack of longer forced carries make this the more user friendly of the two Turtle Bay courses. Several holes have the Pacific Ocean as a water hazard.
Holes/Yardage: 18-Par 72- Blue tees-6,769/White -6,091/Red 5,354
Price Range: $115 before 12pm/ $95 12 to 2pm/ $75 2 to 4pm/$50 after 4pm

The Fazio Course is very walker and family-friendly, because it can be played from a shorter distance and there are far fewer forced carries. It gets its name from architect George Fazio, and was opened in 1972. Venturing out to Turtle Bay area makes a great day trip, as there are many scenic stops along the way, including some of the best beaches on Oahu. It is a 55 minute journey driving from Honolulu, but if the surfs up you may choose to come via the windward side due to the traffic congestion that occurs on the Kamehameha Highway from Haliewa to Sunset Beach.
On non-surf days, the north shore has some of the best beaches in the world in a magical 7 mile stretch of coastline. Haliewa town is a great nearby destination for restaurants, shopping, and

Local's Tip:
The afternoon after 4pm rate is quite a good discount, made even more playable in the summertime when sunset stretches closer to 7:30 pm. Bring the family or you're the non-golfers in your party to enjoy the other great features of the resort, especially the Kuilima Cove and beach which is beautiful and some of the safest swimming on the North Shore.
