Oahu weather ranges from about 70 to 85 degrees F. throughout the year with rain and wind conditions varying a bit on the different sides of the island. The north and eastern shores of Oahu get more rain and typically have slightly cooler temperatures than the south and west shores. Oahu sees more rain during the winter months than summer though conditions are generally very pleasant all year around. Trade winds blow from the northeast bringing moisture-laden clouds that typically rain onto the mountains of the east and north shores creating green and lush landscapes. When rain showers do arrive they typically pass over fairly quickly revealing sunny blue skies and rainbows. Ocean conditions vary each day though typically the north shore will have the calmest waters during the summer and the south shore will have the calmest waters during the winter months. November is the World Invitational Hula Festival as well as the beginning of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing on the North Shore. Also in November is the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship at Kualoa Ranch on the northeast shore. December is the beginning of the waiting period for the Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational In Memory of Eddie Aikau featuring the world's best surfers in giant waves. Also in December is the Honolulu Marathon.
