Just south of historic Kailua village on Alii Drive is Laalao Beach which is popular for bodyboarding, swimming and surfing. Further south in Keauhou is Kahaluu Beach which is fun for snorkeling and a great place to see Hawaiian green sea turtles.  Restaurants Holualoa has nice places to eat including Holuakoa Gardens and Cafe with a wonderful atmosphere as they bake exceptional artisanal breads and serve up hearty meals.
