Oahu is known for its ideal vacation weather with temperatures typically ranging from about 70 to 85 degrees F. throughout the year. Rain and wind conditions vary throughout the Island with the north and eastern shores are generally a bit wetter and cooler than the southern and western shores, and winter months see more rain than summer. Hawaii's cooling trade winds blow predominantly from the northeast and bring moisture-laden clouds that typically rain onto the mountain slopes of the north and east shores creating verdant landscapes.
Ocean conditions change through the days and season with northern swells arriving in winter and south swells sometimes coming in summer bringing high surf in these areas. In general the southern shores are quite calm and great for water activities, and the north shore waters are often calm as a lake during the summer months providing exceptional snorkeling and other water adventures.
