Malasadas are enjoyed plain, with cinnamon sugar\u00a0or sweet fillings such as macadamia, pineapple, lilikoi, mango, banana\u00a0or guava. Dobash or haupia, more island specialties, are also\u00a0excellent fillings to taste. Pao doce make great wraps for Portuguese\u00a0sausage or hot dogs. Both are Portuguese delicacies fortunately\u00a0prevalent on the island to enjoy. You can dine at Leonard\u2019s Bakery but\u00a0also fun are the two wagons featured at many area malls and Chinatown\u00a0(check the website for schedule and details).<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Boots & Kimo’s Homestyle Kitchen is another local favorite, despite\u00a0the move to a new location that has elevated it from a hole in the\u00a0wall to less secret location in Kailua. More seating is available,\u00a0there\u2019s often a wait time so be prepared and bring cash as credit\u00a0cards are not accepted. Most patrons, both locals and visitors, enjoy\u00a0the macadamia nut pancakes and the macadamia nut sauce over them.<\/p>\n
\nAnna Miller\u2019s 24-Hour Restaurant includes a 24-hour breakfast, making\u00a0this an easy choice for anyone who likes lots of options any time of\u00a0day. It\u2019s the island\u2019s answer to the mainland\u2019s IHOP. Locals and\u00a0visitors rave about the pancakes and omelets\u2014both good portions. The\u00a0hash browns are also a popular item. The pies (more than 30 varieties)\u00a0also generate a lot of good buzz.<\/p>\n
\nEggs \u2018n Things is another institution (35 years now) and is a nice\u00a0departure from the many pancake places. The breakfast menu is\u00a0available during dinner time and the omelets, steak and eggs and\u00a0special items (loco moco, sweet bread French toast) comprise an\u00a0expansive menu. Vegetarians will find plenty to eat and there actually\u00a0are pancakes on the menu (you can even buy the mix to take home) plus\u00a0waffles. If you\u2019re in the mood for crepes, you\u2019ll find them here\u2014sour\u00a0cream blueberry is a favorite.<\/p>\n
\nWai\u00b4oli Tea Room & Bakery in Honolulu offers indoor and outdoor\u00a0seating, both tranquil. Outside, there\u2019s a fountain and a lovely\u00a0tropical setting. Afternoon tea is also available daily, by\u00a0reservation, with a rotating menu from 10:30am \u2013 3:30pm. Quiche,\u00a0frittata omelets, breakfast burritos and more are on the breakfast\u00a0menu, which is only served on Saturday and Sunday.
