We recently tried lunch at Honu right on Front Street in\u00a0Lahaina<\/a>. In Hawaiian Honu means turtle, and in front of the restaurant there are turtles swimming and popping up for air between dives.<\/p>\n The restaurant highlights incredible shellfish; fresh Dungeness crab cocktails, oysters on the half shell, shrimp Louis and lobster rolls. \u00a0My favorite is the steamed mussels, Ahi Salad and fresh Island fish (Ono \u2013 a mild, delicate fish whose name means delicious) served Dore style with quinoa. They have the best fish and chips on Maui.<\/p>\n The crab mac & cheese is heavy for an entr\u00e9e but makes a good item to share.\u00a0 For dessert we tried a lilikoi cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e with a refreshing cup of 100% Kaanapali iced coffee.<\/p>\n Honu is known for its exemplary Hawaii Regional Cuisine utilizing fresh local ingredients. The restaurant also features an extensive wine & beer list to pair with your entrees and truly creative fresh handmade cocktails to start.\u00a0Happy hour starts at 3:00.<\/p>\n If you have special dietary concerns, or if there are vegetarians in your party, they offer several creative entrees. Honu serves brick oven pizzas with gluten free crusts by request, and the place is child friendly.<\/p>\n Truly something for everyone \u2013 oceanfront dining, incredible sunsets and of course the turtles provide a show. Reservations recommended for dinner, lunch can be a wait, but walk ins are available.
