Kauai Vacation Rentals are Good for a Float

May 13th, 2008

There are some activities that simply are not for everyone but sometimes those activities are worth a try while on vacation.  A new experience is good for almost anyone and it is always fun to expand your horizons while on vacation.  At least if the experience is exhausting you always know you have the option to just relax and recuperate afterwards.  A great place to vacation and to take on some new experiences is the island of Kauai in Hawaii.  The island of Kauai is perhaps one of the most beautiful and lush islands in Hawaii and is quiet popular and well known for that reason.  A good vacation option is to stay in Kauai vacation rentals which give you the perfect amount of privacy and amenities you need while on vacation.  Your rental will be everything you could ever want and need for your vacation.

While on vacation in Kauai you should try out a new activity as discussed above!  One activity that is particularly enjoyable in Kauai is kayaking.  Kauai vacation rentals will be within easy access to, or close proximity to a location where you can easily rental kayak materials or even better yet take a kayak tour.  The reason that the island is so special for kayaking is that it is the only island that actually has rivers that you can navigate through.  The Wailua River is amazing and you should do everything you can to make sure you get to experience at least a small piece of it.

A Tropical Kauai Vacation Rental

May 7th, 2008

There you are laying in a hammock between two cocnut trees swaying in the breeze while sipping a tropical drink with fresh cocnut juice and pineapple thinking about how it doesn’t get any better than this.  It’s possible you know.  You can get away from it all and find a spectacular Kauai vacation rental at HawaiianBeachRentals.com to do it in.  They offer the best selection of accommodations on the internet.  One favorite place to really kick back is Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai.  There are many activities to keep you busy day and night.  The night life isn’t like Honolulu but then kicking back in Honolulu isn’t like kicking back in Hanalei Bay.  To give you an idea of how laid back it can get, the road to Hanalei still has one lane bridges that you cross.  The beaches are excellent for a variety of activities.

Also nearby is the spectacular Na Pali Coast.  This is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world with the sheer green cliffs jutting in and out along the coast.  You can hike to get a feel for the Na Pali cliffs or you can view them from a cruise, a kayak or the best view is from a helicopter.  If you’ve never taken a helicopter tour, this is an excellent place to take your first.  The view is spectacular and you’ll also get to see Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  Hanalei Bay may be just the place you’re looking for and the professional travel experts at Hawaiian Beach Rentals will be glad to be of service to help you find the perfect vacation rental.

Hiking From Your Kauai Vacation Rentals

May 7th, 2008

It’s damp and green as you walk through a rain forest thick with underbrush of ferns and other exotic tropical plants.  Imagine being on an island that is designated the wettest place on earth and at the same time you have access to a dry area that offers little in the way of humidity.  That is a hiker’s utopia.  Going from lush growth to much more sparse growth allows you the best of both worlds.  One of the wonderful highlights of such a lush garden of utopia is that you don’t have to worry about deadly venomous creatures as the Hawaiian Islands aren’t like the Amazon or the jungles of Malaysia, you can walk in relative safety.  So what are some other areas that you can get to from one of the many Kauai vacation rentals available on this magnificent island?

One of the most popular and spectacular places to hike and visit is the cliffs of the Na Pali Coast.  Although they can be somewhat dangerous as the path runs along some drop-offs that are sometimes damp and slippery, it is an impressive hike that leads to hidden waterfalls and often unpopulated campgrounds.  If you want something more inland and not along the slippery paths of a coastal trail, then you might want to hike in the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Waimea Canyon.  The red and green of the contrasting vegetation and iron filled rock will leave a notable mark in your memory or on your digital camera.  If you have any questions regarding the accommodations available on Kauai or where to go to hike, contact the friendly professionals at Hawaiian Beach Rentals.

Work on Your Backhand while staying in Kauai Rentals

April 21st, 2008

Do you love and live to play tennis?  Do you long to go on vacation but feel like you cannot take that much time of from the game of tennis?  If you are serious about tennis but really need a vacation then you should consider taking a vacation to Hawaii and staying on the island of Kauai.  The best way to vacation in Kauai is by staying in Kauai rentals. You can certainly take advantage of everything that Kauai has to offer and get your court time in and it is actually easier than you think.  The best thing about Kauai and the reason that it is a favorable place to stay in Hawaii for tennis players is that you have the option of having ample play areas without the requirement of staying in a fancy overpriced resort just to have a tennis court available.  You may be surprised to know that there are actually a large number of tennis courts available which are free to the public.  Some great places to play for free are Hanapepe, Kalaheo, Kapaa, Kekeha, Koloa, and Wailua.  You will find that the players are all friendly and just there to have a great time and get in a little tennis like you.

Explore Hawaii on Foot while Staying in Kauai Vacation Homes

April 18th, 2008

If you enjoy vacations that have a lot of physical activity which isn’t even necessarily grueling then you should consider planning a vacation to explore Hawaii an specifically the island of Kauai on foot.  You should definitely choose to stay in one of many Kauai vacation homes.  You can choose any vacation home available in Kauai and which ever you choose you will not be disappointed.  Not only will you not be disappointed with your vacation home choice but you will also not be disappointed by your choice in vacation destinations.

You may want to start off your vacation in Kauai by taking a calm barefoot walk on the beach.  If you so desire this walk could even be just steps away from you choice of Kauai vacation homes.  After your walk on the beach and maybe a quiet dinner you can get all geared up for your more serious hikes or treks during your time on the island.  If you are looking for some great hikes to try in Kauai you might want to explore the Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Parks, as well as the Kuilau, Moalepe, Kalalau (11 miles), and the Powerline trails in the other regions of the island.  These hikes all range from easy to difficult and beginner to more advanced.  A great idea is to stop at a local tour company and even plan a few guided hikes with either a group or a private guide.  That of course is the safest way to hike in a place you are not familiar with.

Peddle Your Heart Out while staying a Kauai Vacation Rental

April 18th, 2008

Do you live to hear the sound of bike tires on the road?  Do you spend all your free and spare time riding your mountain bike and hitting the trails?  If the answers to those questions is yes then you should consider planning a vacation to Kauai where you could peddle your heart out while staying in a Kauai vacation rental. The island of Kauai in Hawaii has some of the best mountain biking you can ask for.  The surroundings are at times shockingly beautiful and you will even feel slightly lost in the beauty at times.  What could be better than being completely engaged in the natural surroundings while going on a ride of your life.  You will definitely have a fulfilling vacation if you bring your bike with you on vacation.

Speaking of bikes, if you cannot bring a bike with you then not to worry, that is no reason not to plan a biking vacation.  You have multiple options as far as bike rentals go.  You will find that your Kauai vacation rental is within close distance to a variety of bike rental shops that you can suit you up not only with a bike but with all the appropriate gear as well.  Once you have all the necessities including a tool kit and some spare tubes, you will be ready to really hit the trails.  Some of the best mountain biking trails can be found in the Poipu area and the cane road (dirt road used for hauling sugar cane) between Kealia Beach and Anahola, north of Kapaa.  You will also want to try out the trails in Wailua Falls, Mahaelepu Beach, Moloaa Beach, and the Spalding Monument.  Again the scenery will be unforgettable.

April 16th, 2008

The Princeville Villas offer everything you may need on your vacation that can’t be found when staying in a hotel or resort yet you will feel like you are staying in a resort.  You will have everything you will need to do your own cooking including a gourmet kitchen in some of the villas.  When you are searching for one of the Princeville villas from which to choose you should make sure they have what you need in the kitchen to prepare the meals you are planning on having while on vacation.  Of course, you can go out and enjoy the local cuisine as there are many fine restaurants from which to choose in the Princeville area.  You will also find very comfortable master suites, excellent facilities including the bathrooms and extra bedrooms along with a few amenities you may need while visiting Kauai.  Some of the toys left there fro your enjoyment are for your convenience and use.

Princeville has a cornucopia of activities from which to choose.  Golf is one with excellent courses there and excellent courses throughout the island.  Nothing is really that far on an island like Kauai.  Of course all of the water activities are available on Kauai.  The surfing and swimming are excellent as is the kayaking.  You can even kayak along the Na Pali coast and enjoy one of the most magnificent natural spectaculars in Hawaii.  There are more choices from which to choose, too many to list here.  Have fun looking around to see what looks like fun to you.

Golfing From One of the Magnificent Princeville Rentals

April 16th, 2008

If you are going golfing in Kauai you may want to see what is available in Princeville.  You can have a fantastic time on the courses at and near Princeville, playing on some of the best Kauai has to offer.  Some even consider them prime golf courses in Hawaii. Do You Need All That Stuff in a Princeville Vacation Rental?

April 16th, 2008

Everything but the kitchen sink is the old saying.  If you are staying in a Princeville vacation rental] the last thing you will need is a kitchen sink.  You do need to figure out what activities you will be partaking in to determine what you really need and what can be rented or is provided.  If you plan on doing all of your own cooking check with the friendly staff at Hawaiian Beach Rentals when you book the rental to see what is provided.  You will probably find that most of what you need will be there when you arrive.  If you need special utensils or pans that you really love, you may want to bring them but most of the time you really don’t need to.  The same goes for the master suite and bathrooms.  You’ll find all of the essentials at most rentals.  Some of the rental owners know you will want to play in the ocean so they even provide some water toys for you.

When you decide what it is you will want to do for activities you may want to check with the professional travel experts at Hawaiian Beach Rentals to see where you can do such activities and what is provided.  Scuba diving shops will rent you everything you need but if you have your own mask and fins that you absolutely love, bring them.  If you are going to only do a couple of dives, you probably don’t need to pack all your gear.  The same goes for surfing, kite surfing, wind surfing, snorkeling, golfing and boogey boarding.  If you are going to use them everyday then bring your own but if you plan on going once, you have to assess if it is worth the hassle of lugging them through the airport and around the island.

Kauai Vacation Homes on the Leeward Side

April 16th, 2008

The leeward side of the island of Kauai offers a much calmer and dryer area than the North Shore.  One of the most popular areas on the south side of the island is Poipu.  The swimming conditions are often calmer and more conducive to safe swimming than the north shore.  The flatter and dryer area is less dramatic but is a favorite among many tourists.  The south shore extends along the coast from Kipu Kai and Maha’ulepu Beach to the Poipu Beaches and to the west towards Salt Pond Beach Park.  There are many several places to see along this spectacular stretch of coastline.

If you are staying in the area in one of the Kauai vacation homes available from HawaiianBeachRentals.com then you can do this at your leisure.  Off of Rt 520 or Maluhia Road, you will travel through the “Tunnel of Trees” to Koloa then to a fork where you can go to Poipu Beach or to Lawai, home of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens and the fascinating and popular blow hole called Sprouting Horn.  At Poipu Beach Park you’ll find a rock trimmed pool that is a favorite for those families with small children.  It is also a popular favorite for the older children and parents at the other end of this curving beach because there is great snorkeling to see some of the spectacular tropical fish in the area.  If you carry some fish food while snorkeling you’ll have the fish eating right out of your hand.  Make sure you stay in the protected reef so you don’t get caught in the strong current just outside of it.

Kauai Vacation Rental on the North Shore

April 16th, 2008

The North Shore of Kauai is perhaps the most spectacular landscape because it includes both rugged mountains and beautiful beaches amongst lush greenery.  The greenery is due in part to the fact that the North Shore gets the most rainfall in the wintery months.  The winter is also when the waves are the largest on the North Shore, just like the famous ones on Oahu.  The North Shore is also popular for those who want to enjoy a more secluded vacation.  If you are looking for a more remote Kauai vacation rental then you probably want to look on the North Shore since the road to that area still has one lane bridges along the road.  It is here that you may start to understand “island time.”

Island time is that time frame that is found in more laid back areas, the kind of time that drives type A’s crazy.  If you are the type that is in a hurry to get things done or you have to start things on time and be on time and get your food on time, then the North Shore may not be for you.  Some of the attractions on the North Shore include Princeville.  You can find elegant rooms, exceptional golf, exquisite restaurants and stunning views.  During the summer months you will find relatively calm seas and good safe swimming and surfing.  Like other islands, the winter months are much more dangerous and swimming and surfing are not recommended unless you are fully aware of the conditions.  One way to tell if the water is relatively calm is to see where people shelter their boats.

Beach Hunting from your Kauai Vacation Rentals

April 16th, 2008

There are numerous beaches on Kauai that don’t attract a lot of attention.  There is good reason for some of it.  The currents and undertows are not to be taken lightly.  If you don’t know what you are doing and don’t have good information on the beaches you want to visit, finding out the hard way is extremely detrimental to your well being.  That’s where locals and people who know the area come in handy.  If you are looking for Kauai vacation rentals and have questions about the beaches contact the travel professionals at HawaiianBeachRentals.com and talk to the staff.  Many of them live and work in the Islands and have firsthand knowledge of some of the beaches.

Some beaches you may not have heard of include Shipwreck Beach along Keoniloa Bay.  It wasn’t much of a beach until the hurricane created a much broader golden crescent.  It is a dangerous beach so if you visit you may just want to climb on the rocks and enjoy the scenery and solitude.  Another one in the area that is coming back from the hurricane instead of being created by the hurricane is Brennecke’s Beach.  The waves are starting to break again out in the bay and closer to shore so the more experienced and less experienced both can catch the waves.  It still can be dangerous so if you don’t have expert opinions on the conditions be careful.  One of the best kept secrets is Maha’ulepu at the end of a dusty sugar cane road.  You will certainly find solitude but the currents can be dangerous so be careful.

Kauai rentals for great outdoor adventures!

April 7th, 2008

Kauai rentals are the way to go for great outdoor adventures!  Kayak Kauai Outbound, a mile past Hanalei Bridge on Highway 560 in Hanalei (tel. 800/437-3507 or 808/826-9844; fax 808/822-0577; www.kayakkauai.com), is the premier all-around outfitter on the island. It’s staffed by local experts who keep track of weather forecasts and sea and trail conditions; they have a lot of pertinent information that hikers, campers, and other backcountry adventurers need to know. Plus they have guided hiking tours starting at $81 per person. If you don’t plan to bring your own gear, you can rent it here or at Pedal ‘n Paddle, in Hanalei (tel. 808/826-9069). If you want to buy camping equipment, head for Ace Island Hardware, at Princeville Shopping Center (tel. 808/826-6980).

Zipping through the Forest — The latest adventure available from Kauai rentals is an activity called zipline. From a high perch, participants (known as “zippers”), outfitted in harnesses and helmets, attach themselves to a cable, which is suspended above the ground from one point to another a hundred or so feet away. Ignoring gravity, the zippers, attached only by a cable, zoom through the air, above tree tops, at speeds of 35 mph from one end of the cable to the other. It’s an adrenaline rush you will not forget. One of our favorite zipline tours is done by Outfitters Kauai, 2827A Poipu Rd., Poipu (tel. 888/742-9887 or 808/742-9667; www.outfitterskauai.com). Their Kipu Falls Zipline Trek starts with a 1/4-mile hike through the jungle to a steep valley with a 150-foot waterfall. You climb up one side of the valley, attach yourself to the cable some 50 feet above the earth, and step off the platform. Hollering with ear-to-ear grins is the result of “zipping” along the cable over the forest canopy, rivers, and waterfalls. Even first time zippers run as quick as their legs will carry them back up the trail to do it all over again. If you get your fill of zipping, there are hikes, a swimming hole, and rope swings to fill up the 3-hour adventure. Cost is $94 for adults and $75 for children ages 10 to 14.

Kauai vacation homes for a great Hawaiian shopping adventure!

April 7th, 2008

Lihue is a veritable shoppers paradise!  And Kauai vacation homes put your right in the center of the fun!  The gift shop of the Kauai Museum is your best bet for made-on-Kauai arts and crafts, from Niihau-shell leis to woodwork, lauhala and coconut products, and more. The master of lauhala weaving, Esther Makuaole, weaves regularly in the gallery on Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 1:30pm.  About a mile north of the Lihue Airport Kauai Fruit & Flower is a great stop for flowers like the rare Kauai maile in season, cut flowers for shipping, coconut drums the owner makes himself, Hawaiian gourds (ipu), and Kauai fruit such as papayas and pineapples. Other products include lauhala gift items, teas, Kauai honey, Kauai salad dressings, jams and jellies, and custom-made gift baskets.  In the Kukui Grove Center is the Kauai Products Store. It’s a font of local handicrafts (about 60% of whom are Kauai artists) and a respectable showcase for made-on-the-island products, such as soaps, paintings, clothing, coffee, Kukui guava jams, fabrics, and Niihau-shell leis. The Hawaiian quilts are made in the Philippines but designed by Kauai families. You’ll find everything from a $10,750 bronze sculpture to bamboo chairs to a koa ukulele by Raymond Rapozo in Kealia, who does stunning work. Beware of the macadamia-nut fudge, found only at Kauai Products Store: It’s rich, sweet, and irresistible.

For a great selection in alohawear — shirts, dresses, pareu — and lots of souvenirs to take to the folks back home, stop by Hilo Hattie.  Their selection of Hawaii-related gift items is immense: food, books, CDs, mugs, key chains, T-shirts, and more. They even offer free hotel pickup from Poipu and Kapaa. If you are on a budget, go to the Kauai Humane Society Thrift Shop, where a great selection of “vintage” aloha shirts starts at $5. All the money raised goes to help the Kauai Humane Society continue their excellent work on the island. If you want wooden or coconut buttons for your vintage aloha shirt, stop by Kapaa Stitchery and buy a few buttons; you can have an authentic aloha shirt for a quarter of what you would spend in retail stores. Quilters will be in heaven at the Kapaa Stitchery, where they will find a huge selection of Hawaiian quilts, quilting supplies, needlework designs, and lots of fabric.  Another good souvenir store is Red Dirt Shirt with other outlets in Waimea and Kapaa. Here you’ll find zillions of the famous “red dirt” T-shirts in a variety of styles and designs (and sizes all the way to XXXXL).  If you are looking for something more artsy, Two Frogs Hugging, just down Kuhio Highway from Hilo Hattie and Red Dirt Shirt, is a great place to wander about marveling at their collection of Indonesian arts, crafts, furniture, pottery, and accessories.  So when you think shopping, think Kauai vacation homes for a great shopping adventure!

Your Kauai vacation rental takes you to the Forbidden Island

April 7th, 2008

Your Kauai vacation rental is your jumping off point for great adventures!  Just 17 miles across the Kaulakahi Channel from Kauai lies the arid island of Niihau, “The Forbidden Island.” Visitors are not allowed on this privately owned island, which is a working cattle and sheep ranch with about 200 residents living in the single town of Puuwai.  However, you can spend a couple of hours on the beach in Niihau. Niihau Helicopter, the only helicopter company to offer tours of Niihau, has half-day tours, which include a helicopter ride to Niihau, an aerial tour over the island, and landing on the island at a beach.  Niihau’s history of being forbidden dates back to 1864 when, after an unusually wet winter that turned the dry scrubland of the small island (18 miles by 6 miles) into green pasture, Eliza Sinclair, a Scottish widow, decided to buy Niihau and move her family here. King Kamehameha IV agreed to sell the island for $10,000. The next year, normal weather returned, and the green pastures withered into sparse semi-desert vegetation.

Today, Sinclair’s great-great-grandson, Bruce Robinson, continues to run the ranching operation and fiercely protects the privacy of the island residents. From the outside, life on Niihau has not changed much in 140 years: There’s no running water, indoor plumbing, or electrically generated power. The Hawaiian language is still spoken. Most of the men work for the ranch when there is work, and fish and hunt where there is no work. The women specialize in gathering and stringing pupu Niihau, prized, tiny white seashells (found only on this island), into Niihau’s famous leis, which fetch prices in the thousands of dollars.  So when you’re ready for a Forbidden Island adventure, see us for the best deals in a Kauai vacation rental perfect for your needs and budget!

Kauai vacation rentals put you at the center of the action!

April 7th, 2008

Western Kauai is home to one of Hawaii’s most spectacular natural wonders, Waimea Canyon (the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”); and farther upland and inland, one of its best parks, Kokee State Park.  Kauai vacation rentals put you at the center of the action!  Hanapepe — For a quick trip back in time, turn off Highway 50 at Hanapepe, once one of Kauai’s biggest towns. Founded by Chinese rice farmers, it’s so picturesque that it was used as a backdrop for the miniseries The Thornbirds. Hanapepe makes a good rest stop on the way to or from Waimea Canyon. It has galleries selling antiques as well as local art and crafts, including Georgio’s surfboard art and coconut-grams. It’s also home to one of the best restaurants on Kauai, the Hanapepe Café. Nearby, at Salt Pond Beach Park, Hawaiians have dried a reddish sea salt in shallow, red-clay pans since the 17th century. This is a great place to swim, snorkel, and maybe even observe an ancient industry still in practice.

Waimea — This little coastal town, the original capital of Kauai, seems to have quit the march of time. Dogs sleep in the street while old pickups rust in front yards. The ambience is definitely laid-back. A stay in Waimea is peaceful and quiet (especially at the Waimea Plantation Cottages on the beach), but the remote location means this isn’t the best base if you want to explore the other regions of Kauai, such as the North Shore, without a lot of driving.  On his search for the Northwest Passage in 1778, British explorer Capt. James Cook dropped anchor at Waimea and discovered a sleepy village of grass shacks. In 1815, the Russians arrived and built a fort here (now a national historic landmark), but they didn’t last long: A scoundrel named George Anton Scheffer tried to claim Kauai for Russia, but he was exposed as an impostor and expelled by Kauai’s high-ranking alii, Kaumualii.
Today, even Waimea’s historic relics are spare and simple: a statue of Cook alongside a bas-relief of his ships, the rubble foundation of the Russian fort, and the remains of an ancient aqueduct unlike any other in the Pacific. Stay in an Historic Princeville Vacation Rental

February 2nd, 2008

There are so many choices of places to stay on the islands of Hawaii. One of the quieter ones steeped in history and maintaining a relative undeveloped nature is Kauai. The people of Kauai don’t want to develop too fast, if at all. Things have moved slowly in the development arena and one of those places is Princeville. It started way back in the middle 1800’s. Prior to Captain James Cook landing on Kauai in 1778, the Hawaiian farmed the lush valley of Hanalei creating irrigated taro fields. When the westerners started moving into the area they started cattle ranching and tried several other crops to varying degrees of success, one of those being sugar. In 1860, a man named Wyllie named his sugar plantation Princeville, in honor of the two-year-old Prince Albert Edward Kauikeaouli Lei O Papa a Kamehameha. Thirty-five years later the property was purchased by a missionary’s son, Albert S. Wilcox, and was turned into a cattle ranch. You can still ride on the ranch during your stay in your Princeville vacation rental. You can browse the incredible selection of accommodations available at HawaiianBeachRentals.com and find one that suites your needs. Once you find the rental you want in which to spend your vacation, contact the professional staff at Hawaiian Beach Rentals and they will help procure your lodging. Once in Princeville, you will be amazed at the number of activities to keep you active throughout your vacation. The travel professionals at Hawaiian Beach Rentals will gladly help you plan out your itinerary also.

Why Kauai Rentals?

January 29th, 2008

You gotta love Kauai. Why, you may wonder? Well, who doesn’t love Hawaii, to begin with? But, Kauai is special. It is still paradise. It is still beautiful and magical like the other islands. You still have a ton of activities to choose from. You can surf, snorkel, scuba dive, and explore the sea. The main difference is that it feels more private. There is less commercialism and more of a happy-island-community feel to it. It is said to be more rustic. So, you don’t get the over done tourist vibe. You can just be. On the island there are plenty of Kauai rentals as well as resorts to choose from. You can go total luxury, or peaceful, simple, and serene, or both. Flights are easy to come by and won’t break the bank and great deals on car rentals can be found too. Whatever you need, you can have on Kauai but at the same time you can enjoy a less chaotic atmosphere.
