The original Wailea Course that debuted in 1972 as Maui's 2nd resort golf course. Its layout is closer to the resorts and has a separate access near the restaurant "Mulligan's". It is the older and more classically designed course wrapping closely through resort giving you a mini-tour of the beauty that is Wailea. Wailea Gold Golf Course

Wailea, Maui

The Gold Course was designed by famed course architect Robert Trent Jones II, and was the home to the "The Wendy's Championships Skins Game" for many years. There are great views through out the 18 hole layout and is geared toward the experienced golfer wanting to get the most out of their game. The Gold was opened in 1994 and has been recognized with numerous rewards for its design, which is the most challenging of the three Wailea courses.

Challenges: The course makes the most of the rolling terrain, with immaculate conditions on fairway and rugged conditions framing the out of bounds.

Price Range: $235 for Gold during peak/ $99 after 3:30 pm
Location: Wailea Resort, 10 minutes north of Lahaina

The Gold course never disappoints for the golfer wanting to push there game and feel the challenge of a championship course. There are 93 bunkers stretched throughout, several uphill fairway approaches to elevated greens, and tee shots into the prevailing wind that bring out the necessity for strategic play and knowledge of your game.

Local's Tip:
This course can get very wind affected in the afternoon, so morning play is recommended. The days are hot in Wailea so hydrate well, and prepare for sun protection needs.

Wailea Emerald Golf Course

Also designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the Emerald is an enjoyable yet challenging course with shorter yardage then the other courses which favors couples and ladies play. The Emerald Course even received accolades for being one of the most women friendly courses in the U.S. by Golf Digest and Golf for Women magazines. The fairways are lush and green with tropical flowers highlighting the landscape. Huge views are visible through out the course with ocean views especially breath-taking.

Highlights: A shorter yardage makes this course a couples favorite, with spectacular views and immaculate course Wailea golf is always a stand out.
Challenges: Keeping track of your game while being blown away by the scenery.
Sometimes can be crowded due to its popularity, slowing play.
